Your 100 percent correct on the quality that can come out of China. It is purchaser not supplier that causes the poor quality. Had an uncle that spent time in China, he said products for their own use rivalled or beat many other countries manufacturing quality.

Hay man i just rebuilt a 2004 husqvarna 359 chainsaw from the ground up . Split case new skf 6202 bearings seals .original crankshaft and cases that's all .new update carb all new rubber. Fuel lines. But the best aftermarket top end i could get was from Ryan at wolf creek saw hyway kit .i could get oem at the same $ as i bought the saw for in 2004 . Us guys down here in Canada don't have all the options you guys in the south have .. last time I checked the duke won't even deliver outside of the U.S.A. and you wonder why asian products are talking over. . I would love to order better made products from the U. S .A .. why is shipping such a problem . Anyway man it was a very informative couple of videos and i appreciate how much work goes in to ALL your videos. Cheers man.

Canadian here, I ordered 2100 cylinder and piston kit from the Duke this year, no issues. Runs great!🇨🇦

@@mikemiller347 Hi mike i checked with Dukes about a year ago when i tore down the saw and at that time thay would not ship to my location in Ottawa Ontario . Im not bashing anyone i know there are many other things that can affect cross border shipping. And i did order what i though is the best aftermarket parts i could afford. From wolf creek U.S.A . I guess what we would all like to see is a more unified shipping standard. I would have bought Canadian if the was any place that did not just resell from Asia. Cheers man.

Some Stihl and husky parts are made in China but most of the pro saw stuff is not. I work at a saw shop we sell Stihl and husky. I’ve ordered a lot of parts and most don’t come from China. Again, speaking on the pro saws.

I don't know my following statement to be a fact. As i don't own a stihl. But i was told by a mechanic that the first letter in a stihl serial number' will tell you where it was made. Hope this helps.
@JacksonHall611
@JacksonHall611 Год назад
You are correct the first digit of a Stihl serial number tells you where it was assembled 1-Germany 2-USA 3-Brazil 6-Japan 9-Various (including China) this only applies to complete saws, trimmers, blowers, ect unfortunately there is no way to tell where the parts are made currently most Stihl piston and cylinders both pro and homeowner are made in Brazil by Stihl in a factory they purchased in 2008 or 2009

My neo-tec 660 had the very same piston problem but i never ran it it was tight at the top i sanded the jug and piston crown ported it and it's running fine i have a new war hawk piston and cylinder from the duke looks pretty good at the ready if needed my saw came with a highlow carburetor seems ok its like the nickelsell is thick and rough at the top but i am really happy with the saw now

Making my g372xp look good! Lol. That being said my saw seemed like it was starving for fuel. After some research my main culprit was the fuel tank vent. It is a pressed in supposedly porous brass plug in the side of the fuel tank. You have to remove the tank to get to it which I did. Thats when I discovered a more pressing problem. The anti vibe system includes a set of rockers inthe middle that the springs rock back and forth on. The rocker on the right side was missing the bushing. So the peg screw was interacting with the gas tank. In a drilling type fashion. Another couple of tanks of gas run through it would have resulted in a hole in my gas tank. So 2 wrongs do make a right in some imstances😂. I made a bushing and the supplier is sending me the correct one also. As far as the vent problem I drilled a tiny hole through the brass vent with a wire drill and solved that. I have a 268 duke piston in the saw now with 3 base gaskets. Have a highway 268 pop up on the way so hope your examples weren't specific😢.

May have sucked something back from the muffler. Rust, or metal chips possibly. Made a mess what ever the cause

I can’t even imagine using any cheap aftermarket Chinese parts or saw’s without doing that “final finishing station” type work that I’ve always had to do with all the parts over the past 10 years…. I always looked at it like I’m trading “fit and finish” for the cheap price… it’s just impossible for any Chinese aftermarket parts to compare Apples to Apples with the OEM that are 4 times more expensive! If you have a decent mechanical knowledge and you want to spend the time on the finishing stage and do that finishing work and polish up those aftermarket parts you can save some money by investing your time… but nothing in this life is free! So it’s one or the other…. Walbro carburetor’s in the Stihl saw’s have been being made in the Chinese factory since the 1980’s? 026 had a Chinese Walbro… so there’s definitely better quality then other’s in the aftermarket parts world but it’s just crazy to think that you could purchase a topend kit or something like that for say $50? dollar’s and it’s going to look anything like that $200 dollar version that someone with some experience and skills has gone through quickly… to save money you’re taking on that final finishing station job … so you are going to need to “tool’s and Supplies” up and get to work! I have seen some really ugly quality parts show up so thinking about starting a new saw or engine that was assembled without going right to my bench first and completely going through it… just couldn’t happen at my house! No way I would trust that there’s nothing that needs correction to function properly… But, I just already assumed that going into it… I’ll be detailing it and smoothing out it’s rough edges that’s how I’m paying less out of pocket for my parts…. I actually love having that option….

I bought a saw with a Chinese top end and I can’t believe how restrictive the transfers were compared to oem

Great points on Chinese manufacturing! Ive seen some great stuff come out of there, but Ive seen some real crap too.

2:29 Are those transfer ports cracked on both sides ? Look at the chunks of forge flash in those uppers - man I bet a chunk got up top and ripped on her.

I do think you got a bad one and leave it at that. You should have tried to resolve things with the manufacturer and then done your review. These Chinese knock offs are only done on discontinued models. The patents may have run out. Who's to say that Walbro doesn't have a Chinese factory? Everyone else seems to have. I think you can get this saw going one way or another. Most likely you would have got replacement parts if you would have contacted manufacturer. If you are not happy with stock, go for another cylinder and piston and do another review. It is obvious you got one that was not good out of the gate. But what does one expect from a country that still has slave labor anyway?
