People who simply didn't bother. etc. In Australia you have to vote. But nevertheless, although our system has previously had borderline ratio of the percentage between votes cast & representative of the seats in Parliament. There is no credible evidence linking President Zelenskyy to any lavish spending or exotic car ownership. It's important to fact-check information before spreading it. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the Russia-Ukraine war are separate issues. There is no evidence linking NATO or any other country to supplying depleted uranium shells to Ukraine. You are quite the oracle. What are your qualifications for spouting this? How did you become such an expert? The Ukrainian military has shown remarkable resilience and determination in the face of Russian aggression, and international support for their efforts continues to grow. While a peace treaty would certainly be a welcome development, it's important to recognise that Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity are non-negotiable. The Ukrainian people have a right to self-determination and should not be forced into a settlement that compromises their fundamental rights. Instead of focusing on defeat or surrender, we should be working towards a more nuanced approach that acknowledges the complexity of this conflict. This includes continued diplomatic efforts to address the root causes of Russian aggression, as well as sustained international support for Ukraine's military and humanitarian needs.

Our governments don't have any apparent policy other than just continuing the current policy of giving money and weapons to Ukraine and continuing the war until all the men (but not the women obviously, because of our commitment to gender equality) are all dead. At the very least, we should be making diplomatic efforts at the same time, and doing what Trump is talking about, promising to increase support to Ukraine if Russia rejects peace on reasonable terms. But the diplomatic efforts are needed - we can't go all in on a strategy of encouraging Ukraine to continue the war when it is outnumbered militarily and has a smaller economy. Unless we are prepared to fight ourselves when Ukraine inevitably runs out of men, but we are currently in no position to do that. There are opportunities for diplomacy - Iran has a new president and may be willing to do a deal with the West to cut military aid to Russia in return for the nuclear deal being re-instated. China can be reasoned with. Even if one believes, as some of our leaders appear to, that Putin won't listen to reason, why do we not try to build bridges with the other countries supporting him, instead of being hostile to them for petty reasons? It all makes no sense.

When Russia was twice as big under Stalin, and included Ukraine, it had to give up on tiny Finland that only had a population of 3.5 million at the time. It also had to retreat from Afghanistan that only had a population of 13 million at the time. USSR had a population of 280 million at its collapse in 1991. Now Russia only has a population of 144 compared to 43 Ukrainian at the start of the attempt to invade Ukraine and restore the lost empire. During WW2, Russia included Ukraine and was attacked by Germany, that had to go through Ukraine and simultaneously fought UK & US, so that’s hardly the right case to use as reference for Russias “invincibility”. Even without the backing of NATO, Australia , South Korea & Japan, Ukraine is by far Russias most ambitious invasion in the last 100 years. Ukraines and its allies have a combined population of approximately 1.2 billion people, GDP of $ 58,000 billion vs $ 2,000 billion for Russia. Russia has no ability to borrow money on the free market like western countries. It’s entirely dependent on oil & gas to finance its invasion, but even with the relative high current prices Gazprom just announced a huge deficit of $7 billion. Ukraine has liberated a great deal of the territory occupied by Russia in 2022. Without a navy Ukraine has eliminated a great part of the Russian Black Sea fleet. Russia has so far lost over 500,000 men, are currently losing 1,000 a day and millions of young skilled people have fled the country that was already challenged by its unfavorable demographics, and now these persistent Russian propagandists wants us to believe that Russia cannot lose?

The Ginger guy lives in Noddy Land. The comparison with the 30s and Hitler is apt. The Germans were initially successful in their war aims not because they had such unstoppable military strength (that was mainly in Hitler's mind) but because the West was divided. Had Britain, France and the US got together right from the start instead of wishing the problem away, they could have stopped Hitler in his tracks and saved millions of lives. As it was, they dithered and dived, Hitler saw his chance and took it. Same with Putin. Russia is not a first rate mlitary power and 3B now is a lot less costly than what we could be facing further down the road. As for the phrase "negotiations", be honest, it's just a face saving fig leaf for "surrender".

They probably fled in the first place because they couldn't see a reason to die in a war for their country. There are likely many in Britain who would not die in a war, there are likely many in Russia too, despite the political climate, which is why Putin is reluctant to extend conscription, fearing a backlash. When Russia's military operation in Ukraine dragged on for months, contrary to expectations for a quick victory, I wondered why and many in Western capitals began to celebrate labeling Russia a spent force that cannot defeat Ukraine. Now this is the true picture Putin deliberately planned the military operation to be stretched out cuz he rightly figured out he was fighting NATO-EU, the West. A quick victory over Ukraine will leave the main enemies still standing strong but a dragged out conflict will bleed the economies of NATO-EU to bring them to their knees. Since 2022, NATO-EU has been bogged down with the war and bleeding resources on Ukraine, while China and the rest of the global South are catching up on the developmental gap and even overtaking the West. Two Possible scenarios; Option 1 - Go for Peace Accept Putin's terms, which is surrender the whole of Donbas, accept a no NATO membership for Ukraine, neutrality for Ukraine, stop the hemorrhage of the Western economies Option 2 - Continue funding and pushing Ukraine Putin will still get the whole of the Donbas, capture Odessa and Ukraine becomes landlocked, Ukraine still cannot be in NATO, continued bleeding and eventual destruction of the economies of the West. The West becomes the new 3rd world and many in the global south become the first world.
