i actually just got this game for my birthday a few days ago, wanted a 5player game to play with my group and i thought this would be a blast. will be bringing it on the table this weekend!
It is stated in the official rules reference that if dracula is discovered to have made an illegal move, he takes 5 damage + all hideouts except his current position are cleared and his current location is revealed as a huge penalty.
@@BoardGameBollocks I guess hunters need to be vigilant in calling dracula out or he gets away with it I guess. It's 4 ppl watching his every move and i guess dracula also needs to be honest. Maybe house rule an even heavier penalty for the more severe violations
It’s a tough one mate. We encountered the situation when no one noticed the error until near the end. Dracula’s error was unintentional but the error was impossible to unpick. I don’t think we’d choose to play with someone who cheats so for our perspective this is a major flaw. We still enjoy the game though. We’ve had various copies of it since the 80s so that says something about it’s longevity.
@@BoardGameBollocks the penalty is inflicted when it is discovered as per the rules. As for the problem of incorrectly moving in a hidden movement game that’s part of any hidden movement game as when movement is hidden it can’t be double checked, though in FoD you can double check as you hunt down his trail and reveal hideouts.
At 2:05 you mentioned that all hunters get an action in the day phase and then Dracula goes, and then all hunters get an action in the night phase and then Dracula goes. But actually Dracula only goes after their night phase action. Here is the official rules text "After each hunter has finished performing a night action, the Dracula phase begins." So Dracula basically gets one action after every eight human actions ( 2 per player).
Amen to that. It is my first hidden movement game and it so simple and just works. Fell in love with that mechanism. I'm going to play Fury of Dracula today and I will soon play Letters to Whitechappel. I can see how those games expand on the idea of hidden movement but I hope they just don't get too complicated.

I have to say.. If you're not currently employed as an enforcer with a crime family, you should really explore your options.. Your voice was made for it.
This is one of the rare games I hope to never play again lol. I spent 3 hours playing this, and all I ever did was move my character a few times.. I never had a chance to fight. Never really did anything exciting. I was sooo bored lol.
