Fuseboard Moving Duty Pt 2 + Dave empties his tool bag (horrifying) | Thomas Nagy

Dave and I continue with our job in central London putting in a second fuseboard. We had the Bosch radio one site to entertain us a little, but sadly the aerial on there is crap. Also doing a bit more work on the extension of a customer's house from a few videos back. I took some time to mentor Dave on how to organise his tool bag ... really!

Ref the pricing - I'm self employed, but in IT and it's exactly the same. voltare2amstereo ,sorry chaps I disagree i find the gu10 leds pretty poor , if you fit a decent led like enlite e8 they have a 3 year guarantee ,are quicker to connect and fit ,have a 60 degree spread as opposed to 38 degree gu 10 so less fittings needed and they will have a long life span in domestic situations ,just my preference

@@darenvitaelectrical5310 I agree the lights are generally better, but I've had a few fail in under a year and I've had to replace at my cost. Atleast if it's a lamp the customer can normally replace them their self

I bought one of those beep if electric pen things. Green one from Wickes. Total guess work, beeps at everything and nothing, even tried RTFM!still nfg, was removing a bricked up extractor fan wire dissapears into solid plaster toward celing.ended up isolating everything fitting a lamp pendant and the seeing if it lit up. It did. Glad to see the expensive version makes little difference. Thank you for finding that out and sharing with us.

Tom, nerdy info: The radio is banjaxed because of the noisy switched mode supply in the charger, try putting a common mode choke in the DC lead from the charger output, use one of those ferrite clamps you see on computer cables and wind a few turns of the charger DC output around the clamp and see if that cleans off some of the noise, failing that throw the charger in the bin! :D

Another great video 👍🏼 I agree on the can down lights you can put your own lamp in and when it goes it's easily replaced by the user. However I have been fitting 100s of green brook LED fittings and have only had 1 faulty fitting in 3 years of using them, either that or the customer dont call me when they go ! I have moved onto JCC V50 downlights so far so good. Have been fitting those for the last 3months and have had roughly 100-150 of them fitted and not 1 faulty, yet. Fingers crossed. I think a good quality fitting is worth it and not to buy cheap. Buy cheap buy twice they say !

I work for a security integrator and have done for many years. I'm a techie and not really a businessman and prefer steady money. When I first started in the industry back in the mid 90s, I was self employed and trying to do quality work but because I was new to the business I wasn't all that fast. I had a customer who was a builder. He had some finished houses which I fitted alarms in and he paid me straight away. Then he wanted me to do more work for which he tried to screw me down on price, said the sparks would first fix, wanted to supply the parts which would've been cheap and nasty and of course that would've denied me my parts mark-up. Meanwhile, I happened to meet one of his plumbers whom he owed £9000. As I was hand to mouth at that point, I decided not to do more work for the guy before he sent me under.

Get spade bits with the screw on the end. You don't have to push untill the last 5mm as they draw themselves in. Irwin i think do ones that are nail resistant to a degree, but screws are hardend. It's easy to touch up a spade bit with a file or angle grinder, takes seconds and doesn't have to be anywhere close to perfect.

Personally I don't trust such non-contact voltage testers, and I don't trust the single pole testers which are shaped like a screwdriver with a neon indicator inside. 2-pole is the best way to go, no matter if it's a Benning Duspol, most common tester here in Germany, that's the reason all those testers are called "Duspol" here even if they're made by another company, or the Fluke T-series (T110, T130 or T150). Megger also makes one (TPT320), but I wouldn't recommend theirs because it lacks a load connection. The Fluke (T110,T130 and 150) and Duspol models (Expert, Analog, Digital) have that. If you do a test between line and ground and push the load connection buttons the RCD in the circuit should trip, of course that's not a complete test, more of "Hello? Anybody out there?". They can also indicate the direction of a rotating field in a three-phase installation.

@@thomasnagy AvE got a lot of shit for it as not all his conclusions/assumptions were correct. There are a lot of crappy meters out there, but Fluke is not one of them.
