I THOUGHT I HAD WATCHED ALL THE VAPING VIDEOS ON RU-vid, THEN I BUMP INTO THIS VIDEO - *AND I AM GLAD I DID!!!* - THIS VIDEO WAS GREAT, I LEARNED MORE ABOUT "GOOD" CLAPTON COILS HERE THAN I EVER LEARNED ANYWHERE ELSE, THIS WAS GREAT - THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO - KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!!!!
This was super helpful. I've been playing around with fused ss fused Clapton coils and temp control and for the life of me I couldn't figure out why my ramp-up time was so bad. But t's because I'm using this style of clapton. I was getting better results with straight wire and here is why.
I always wondered why i could see between the wraps on those cheap fused Clapton spools. I took your concept and applied it to building my own. Thanks for the knowledge of experience man. Oh, and I for one dont think anyone but you should put a price on your time and skill. Thanks PVA
I'm so glad I found your channel. It's like a breath of fresh air I mean that it is amazing. I'm so happy to find its not all about the latest and greatest devices and atomizer. Thank you sir, we need this. I believe with the market today and how easy it is to rebuild, there's a lot lost in translation. Thank you again!!!
Okay so while what is being said here is true , coils of that type gunk up a lot faster because of the thin wrapping wire, this is why in my opinion round thick wire is the best both in flavor , heat dissipation , and of course cost . Instead of dry burning and keep using the same coil with worse and worse flavor each time you just replace it with minimal cost. The only two options are either wrap yourself with 38+ wrapping wire or just go with the og round wire and the second is cheaper. Also round wire has a certain cleaness you dont get from claptons anyway . At the end of the day its just metal and however fancy you are about it the concept remains the same ... Awesome video by the way and one that was needed
wow. loved every bit of information in this lecture on fused claptons. i cant afford pre built claptons so i will make my own claptons soon and i will keep in mind all that was learnt here. thanks again PVA.
dude u just answered my question without me asking! i just did my first fused clapton and couldn't understand why it ramped up so slowly. now i know: cuz i used 22ga x2 and 30ga. that's all the guy had at the shop but now ill look for 40ga online. thanks bro!
Thanks so much, I've tried so many different coils and was getting tired at how much ramp up all the exotic builds were needing... then I got the fused claptons that came in the Troll RTA.... omg... mind blown! They are fine delicate fused claptons like the ones in your video and fire instantly... and I'm like... what is this voodoo! Vape, flavour and clouds are insane even at low wattages! So I started looking to see what this is... and bingo... you're on the money again Peg... finest gauge wire wrap makes all the difference. Never again gonna waste money on anything less than 40ga. Top work my man! :)
Thank you for this video, I have been vaping for roughly 5 years now but I am just now playing with an RBA set up, I just upgraded my tank/atomizer from an Aspire Cleito that I have used for over a year now to the Smok, TFV8, Cloud Beast which comes with an RBA set up. I was hesitant to try a dripper because I just didn't want to continuously drip juice on the wick. It was just too much work for me. My son in law has a few drippers but doesn't use them regularly due to having to continuously wet the wick. This video explained quite a bit that I had no clue about and would have screwed up just for the fact that I thought thicker gauge wire was the best way to go. I was using information that I have learned over the years from wiring cars and stereo systems. Your video makes a lot of sense, thank you
mrbratt69 buy a good dripper and just keep it around the house for an occasional vape. Still use your tanks for your everyday setup. You will see over time you will use that dripper more often as time goes by. It's a great vaping experience you need to try
Great video Peg! The Fused Clapton is my favorite build! When I use a single/dual, weather two fuses are twisted together or paralleled with round wire, they always deliver great flavor and great vapor! No disrespect to the guys/gals who run with, Aliens, Staggards and stitches, but I see no reason to make it that complicated.
really well done Peg... best explanation I have seen.. excellent.. I finally understand what I have experienced with different coils. I have been paying attention to the ohms.. more then the gauge of wire uses for wraps.. thank you
Great video Peg. I see a ton of these coils on the market now and you hit on the key points of why we do these "things". Most of the ones I see being mass produced defeat the purpose entirely. Everyone wants a Lamborghini, just not one with a Chevette engine & chassis. Peace!
Thanks very much for another great video in your line of educational videos, Peg. Your battery series was a great learning source for my better understanding the complexities of 18650's and their proper range of use. Now with your great sourcing contacts in China you are embarking on a new area of coil science. I look forward to learning more on the arcane art of coils. I use some good SS clapton wrap 40ga wire from another source and can attest to the validity of your findings. I puzzled over the heating coefficiency on the Steam Engine site and your demonstration of this resulted in a eureka moment for me. I look forward to giving your fairly priced coils a try in the future. Good to see you again, amigo. Have a great 2017.
Yeah, not sure I totally agree 100% but I prefer 38g or 40g for claptoning.. I've used 44g, SS great coils, but man.. It was tediously time consuming for not any noticeable benefit
Amazing explanation... I have no idea how to spot a bad coil before this... and you are right... I bought some from advanced vape supply with 38 outer wire a few days ago and I was afraid I did a sh1t deal
Hah wish this video was up when I first started building them, I learned that lesson the hard way after making many fused claptons 26g with 32g (sometimes 7 wraps dual coil lol) before I realized I was getting better performance with single core with 32g. *Truly night and day difference in the performance of your vape* using 36g+ very good information.
I learned a lot. So I subscribed! and will be picking some coils up, for my Icon, when it arrives. I've been vaping since April 0f 2015, but still haven't gotten the build part perfect, so I watch as many videos as I can, and hopefully with the right rda, and coils, I can finally get this part of it! I have been making my own e-liquids, for over a year now. Thanks for such a straight forward review! :)
Man this is so dang informative! I have a TRVP rda by bb vapes on the way. Its for concentrates and it uses the coil as the wick so maximum air pockets is a plus!
Great video tackling info a lot of people didn't know existed. This is very delicate topic and I am asking you, as the most reasonable explainer of more difficult topics, have you thought about making video about coils heat flux? This is even more interesting in regard to claptons and would add greatly to this videos topic. E.g. 2.5 ID, only 4.5 wraps, 26/32 both kanthal to reach heat flux of 200 mW/mm² you'd need, surprisingly, 100 WATTS! While the same 26/40 coil would only need around 53 watts to reach the same 200 mW/mm². Little math explains this topic even deeper, but problem is info on this topic is very scarce and big cloud of confusion surrounds this area of vaping.
Happy new year peg. Right on time with that video . I was planning to start doing my own claptons. As always you are the man to go to for vape knowledge .
I agree with most of what you said but staggered fused claptons are way better than basic fused claptons for me. They take a bit more time, and there's more potential for mistakes though. They're well worth it for the performance they provide. Not all staggered coils are the same either though. There's good and bad stags depending on wire sizes used.
Thank you for the clarification. I was thinking to build fused clapton with inner wire 28ga and the outer 40ga all SS316 for using on the Kayfun V5, I couldn't find any fused Clapton wire that size so I thought of starting to build my own, what would your thought be? Thanks again.
I prefer 38 for the outer wrap. 40 and above just lacks the density I crave. Yeah the thinner the outer wrap the crisper the flavor but what's the point of a lot of flavor without the density and mouth feel.
finally find the answer why the fused clapton that i bought sucks! bought a ss316 10ft geekvape 26*3 and wrapped 32, performed like shit. i tought it was the ss316 was the problem.
I just received my order, i have to say i am quite impressed. Those BS coils i was using for my RTA tank. I even got more airflow somehow. I am using a cleito 120 RTA. Good coils i recommend it 100%. I have a question though, my revenger gives me in smartmode 100W @0.06 ohms. How high can i go in wattage? I am running it in dual mode and how high can i go in single mode?
G Maduro wattage limit is define by the user..... What I mean is this: How HOT do you like your vape and how much airflow do you use to regulate the coil temperature. Higher wattages require more air (opened up more AND hitting harder) as well as (generally) shorter pulls. If you prefer a medium to cool vape, use lower wattages and hit it longer. If you prefer a hotter vape, crank it up, open your airflow, hit it harder, take shorter vapes. Either way is "right"...as long as you wick TIGHT and keep it wet! 😮💨💨💨
I couldn't find 40ga wrap but 28 core gauge and 36 wrapped tri & quad core, what do you think? And ohh! I don't live in the US so, I can't order yours.
I want to get some good coils for my Hadaly. Can you recommend a fused clapton that is good for flavor, that will fit in a hadaly. I am so glad I watched this video. I was just about to buy some cheap coils off ebay.
Very helpfull video here! I was going to build a fused clapton with 2x28ga for the core and 36ga above the core. Would you use Kanthal A1 or SS for it?
I think heating speed here is not the GA vs GA, but the Kanthal VS SS 316. Stainless steel coils will heat up faster than Kanthal (or Nichrome) coils with same GA. But anyway I agree that 40 GA wrapping wire is much better than 32 GA
Lex Cherkasskiy 40g for the win better than 50g too as 50g is brilliant but gunks too quick as does 48g 46g 44g 42g. However 40g/38g and 39g are a happy medium
Lower GA, higher Mass. Higher mass, more energy needed to heat up. Like, 100ml water on the same stove will boil faster then 500ml. Its not rocket science. The difference between SS, Kanthal and N80 isnt that big. Look up their specific heat capacity.
great video! im going to start making my own claptons soon. is it possible to get the 40g wire wrapped really close using the coil jig trick which you showed in one of your earlier tutorials on how to wrap fused claptons?
I've been making fused clapton 26 gauge kanthal and 32 gauge 316l stainless steel. What are your thoughts about that? Just curious because stainless steel does heat up faster than kanthal. I have some 36 gauge stainless steel on order to see if it is any better.
I don't mind doing giveaways but we're not allowed to anymore. I haven't been keeping up with other channels. any idea how they do it? We can't do raffles because its technically gambling.
youtube comment randomizer.- like, comment, subscribe (all that jazz). Everyone else does it that way. Or set it up through your website, are just a few suggestions. Either way, gets people interested your coils are .
Bob w don't go lower than 24g cores if your running dual coils and no lower than 5 wraps on each coil, and yes 36g works really well on fused Clapton s, don't always have to use 40g as the fuse wire, all the aliens I make are with 3×26/36g & they are some of the best coils I've ever built.... add me on Instagram if you want help making builds @craigyeahboi2016
Craig Buckton I am only using 316lss wire and 7-9 wrap average and 2×28 fused with 36g is my sweet spot but have a lot of 24g to use! Thick Claptoning wire makes it tough to fit enough wraps in most of my attys. With 2×24fused with 40 would give me a little more room for more wraps. I like to stay above .12 ohm . thanks for the offer but no Instagram!
Great Video! So, since these are all SS wire, can these fused clapton be used in temp control modes? I'm figuring that I would have to use a custom TCR/TFR value, since it's not all the same gauge wire, right?
