Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto! Climbing all the way to the top | Japan April 2018

Hi everyone! Today we're doing something I never got to do in the whole time I was living in Japan - climb to the top of Fushimi Inari Shrine! This shrine is in Kyoto and is famous for all the red tori gates it has snaking up a mountain. I've never done the full route - till today! It's not a hard hike, and doesn't take much time. Also: last year I did leave a comment for you saying I was going to Japan for our honeymoon and were using your videos as a guide. GIRL!!! I really need to thank you! Your guide is the best guide we came across. Very helpfull and insightfull. I did record some vlogs about the trip over my channel, but I’m affraid it’s all in portuguese (we are from Brazil). Love all your videos!! Especially all the blogs from Japan!!! About the opens time of the shrine, Inari Shrine, as a shinto shrine never close. Open 24/7 :) It is actually really good to visit in the night.

About going before the shire closes: my husband and I went september last year about 5pm. The store did close, but all the rest is open all thru the night. So we did go till post 7 and walked down during the night. It was quite an adventure! When the sun goes down and fog comes out, everything changes. We were worried about the signs regards wild boars after sundown tough... One thing we noticed was the almost absence of tourist after 7pm. Only locals going up and down like some kind of walk in the park.

Some parts were darker than others. Locals were using a flashlight, we used the cellphone. It’s normal to be totally alone in the middle of the track. Quite a eerie feeling. The fear to get attacked by a boar was quite real and all the small shires have this aurea during the night. Long story short, bring a flash light and make sure google maps is working ahahahah

i arrived at fushimi inari around 5:30-6am and nothing will beat walking up that path at sunrise! it was so beautiful! and so empty :')

@@thisNatasha i lucked out in the sense that the day i went to fushimi inari it was my 2nd or 3rd day in japan so i was still super jet lagged and waking up at 3-4 am easily. normally i would neeeever be able to do that hahah xD

Every time you say Liam is here I’m like „hello Liam“ at my phone. Feel like an idiot 😂 also caked with faces started a Kickstarter for her new Japan planning book yesterday and that’s super exciting! I always enjoy how you take us along so we really get a great feel for what it’s actually like. Thank you for your great content! Great Tipp about the higher Loop being less busy! Thanks. The amount of people always makes me nervous about travelling to japan- I live in the rural countryside so crowds is hard work for me. So about halfway was 40mins- was it about 2,5 h in total?

Thanks so much!!! Yeah it was about that much - we were stopping for filming and photos so I think you can do it a lot faster if you're better at hiking than me which is probably likely! Oh I didn't know about Cakes with Faces Kickstarter!!! I'll check it out! Thanks!!! :D

Cool video. Fushimi Inari was my favorite place to visit in Kyoto. So inspiring and special. I also made a video about it on my channel. I would go back there in a heartbeat.
