Love him or not, Keiji does what the fuck he wants to do, you have to admire that. I bet his mother is disappointed she spent her money on his guitar lessons when he was young.
@@-cobainism- Amazingly so many people who don't get it come and leave their knowledgeable comments which they are entitled to, but perhaps they should go listen their old Blue Note or Miles Davis albums and listen to the same old shit over and over for decades.
When you get really fade up of all the bs surrounding you, especially this days, this sound help to ease the pain when you reach that state of mind, so thank you Fushitsuha to make this music, this vibe cause it helps.
I have actually taken part in free-noise-improvisation at a child's birthday party. It went down really well. :-) From what I can gather from the various music teachers I know, children seem to like noise/unstructured sound, especially if they can take part!
There has been talk of a retrospective Fushitsusha 5xLP boxset being released by Black Editions. I want this searing free noise tornado of controlled chaos on my record player 🥰
thanks so much, to relive this performance is such a gift. get plugged into your laptop with a decent pair of headphones it will serve as 'part way' to being there. dare i say there is a part of this gig that i think is chopped out which i really missed, about 2 3rds into the performance he sung in a 'glimmer light fade in and out, static - like amid such fiece feedback, everything felt it had become fragmented. just incredible as always. Happy Birthday Keiji Haino, long may you reign..
Glad I found this!! I've had "fushitsusha - first live" saved to my phone for years now downloaded from a blog.. really great set (very different to this though! Low end bass grooves all the way) Never really thought to check on RU-vid, just had haino on for his boiler room set then suddenly found myself thinking "fuck that sounds pretty damn good" What do ya know Fushitsusha! Great sound, cool upload, thx
You might also like the band Kousokuya. And I would definitely recommend checking out Masayuki Takayanagui (AKA Jojo), specially when combined with Kaoru Abe.
people like this probably because the "wild" and "raw" vibe of this form of live music. I bet no one listens to this at home because it's good without the visuals of the band. If you could name what you like about it, I might get it more or less. But, the form and the visuals are the only thing to this band and it's all they got.
Yoko Ono was an established artist in the Fluxus Movement before the Beatles were even a thing. She was friends with La Monte Young and Mentored by John Cage who without them there would be no Velvet Underground, thus no punk, thus no post-punk, thus no No wave music, thus no Noise music, thus no Fushitsusha. You can't claim to appreciate this kind of music when you piss on it's history. Yoko Ono was far more radical, anti-establishment and bad-ass than John Lennon Ever was. Yoko didn't break up The Beatles. John and Paul's childish egos did.
being avant-garde for the sake of it doesn't inherently make you good, and yoko ono was a prime example of that. she's not bad or anything but she's got nothing on stockhausen or xenakis' influence
Sorry, but I just don't get it. It sounds like three guys who are playing these instruments for the first time in their life. Do they play songs the same every time? Do they even have songs? Well, to each their own.
They have been playing for decades. Fushitsusha was formed in 1978 and they have a very extensive discography. They definitely do lean towards the more free-form/noise style of psych rock.
@@no-prophet Depends on what album you're listening to. It all has some degree of improv. Their earlier albums like 1st are more structured in the rhythm section with Haino, the frontman, improvising on the guitar. Then there is their collaboration with Peter Brotzmann, famous european free jazz artist, and they go full out free improv. So there is a lot they cover.
Within the chaos, there are lots of musical gestures, a bit like a stream of explosions that extend into each other. The effect is impressionistic and suggests images for me. With the swaying drums and gurgling bass, Haino's playing is like a jet engine with thousands of tones fluttering in and out, or a hurricane blowing over tall, thick trees. I think you could even hear trace influences of Coltrane and Hendrix here. One thing to listen to is the different textures Haino reaches for. Jagged chords transform into a note which swells in an out of feedback. He plays short tones interspersed with long ones. He dips back and forth between both ends of the dynamic spectrum. He juxtaposes harmonics/string noise against jagged chords. He is not exploring melodies, harmonies, and songs as much as he is exploring sound itself as it can be made on his guitar, and how one might express themselves in this way.
there is nothing good or skilled about this. I listen to lots of "noisy" bands where people listen to it and go "its just noiae and random notes" (bands like the dillinger escape plan, converge, gaza, rolo tomassi) but this is literally just random notes and random hits to the drums. no coordination, no musicianship, nothing. utter hot garbage.
you need to dance along to embrace it. most music has taught you to be passive or at most tap your foot and shake your hips but extreme music like this is for you to let go and express yourself as much as possible. jump around the room, roll around, scream along, do whatever comes to your mind in the moment
Very silly that the algorithm just led me to this but hey better late than never. Freedom. They did their own thing in their own time.🙏🏾❤️💕💗🙏🏾❤️💗❤️🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️⚡️❤️⚡️❤️⚡️🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
