I feel like this game can still be worked on and released. maybe not under fusionfall legacy but definitely under a different name. you guys could definitely get it finished if you wanted to
It is indeed very cool, it looks like tons of work was placed into it, however the multiplayer aspect would have been weird, more like a single player game where you can invite friends. Still is very sad that none of it will be seen ever again. Thanks for making the video and showing your work!
It was a pretty tough call deciding how multiplayer was going to work. I feel like what we went with was a pretty good compromise of having something easy to program and manage while also keeping the social elements that enhance the game. That being said in all regards Legacy was being directed to be closer to a single-player experience. The future section got completely redone to be a very linear section before opening up to be the past, and we had planned a lot more in-game events that were to be localized. Our balance was going to be having the public server list that would have allowed players to connect to multiplayer even if they didn't know anyone. Definitely not the same as the original, but Retro was still going to be playable so we felt comfortable going in a different direction.
Fusionfall was a big big part of my childhood man. Much respect to you and the devs for bringing it back. Retro brought back so many memories, and I thank you for it! Legacy was looking to be amazing, but all of the hard work that you guys put in didn’t go to waste! Big ups! 🤙🏽
This is amazing, literally everything I wished would be a bit updated is in a waaay better version here. Really sad that the game will never be out, I was really hyped when I got to play the Retro version and was excited for the legacy since I first heard of it..
Alll of this looks very cool and so flesh out! You guy's did an great job developing this game. Hopefully one day someone remakes fusionfall and uses this video as insperation.
A tale of a game that was never released.Just hurts by looking at it.You guys spent a lot of time on it ! As a fusionfall player/fan i respect all of you .Thank you for remaking fusionfall. If fusionfall somehow comes back, it wouldnt be the same without you as devs.
Really awesome so see how far you guys have worked! I've been wondering... why not use assets that are made and make a whole new story without the cartoon network properties? mostly just wishfull thinking really ^^"
Hi, any plans on recycling these elements or code into anything else or will this stay away forever? This looks super good, also the room hosting thing would've been the absolute best way to preserve FFL if things had gone the right way... cheers
I would love to reuse this code on another project. Unfortunately, a game is a lot more than the code it runs on and I'm not very talented when it comes to game design. That being said I do plan on doing other projects and will try to revisit this one as much as I can.
You think you would ever re name and remove any cn assets from legacy and possibly create your own story or is the art design to close for that to be plausible
All the assets used in Legacy are modified rips from the original game, this means if we wanted to create our own game everything would have to be from scratch. It's definitely possible that the team comes back together for a project that reuses the ideas and features we had sometime later but not anytime soon. It's pretty tough and emotional, for most of us, to have to step away, so for now we'll be working on stuff different from FusionFall.
I was wondering if you would possibly pass the torch to one of the numerous teams trying to bring the game back. Would you pass the source code/game files if a team were dedicated to continue your vision?
I said at the end of the video that I'll be posting tutorials on how I made the features shown in the video, but beyond that there isn't much I can do. The project has been completely shut down, and even though all the code was written by me and Zenpock, code isn't really useful without the files to go along with it. It's unfortunate and not something I'm too happy with but it's a decision above my head.
@@Funske if it were possible to get the game files would you hand off the code? I've tried to get in contact with you on Twitter to speak about that privately. If it's not a bother we could talk about that there!
Apparently people are emailing CN about the take down and the reply is that they will look into it but it will be slow due to the virus. Would you guys bring back development if the DMCA was lifted or has the group officially disbanded?
I'm not trying to be depressing but I'm not really holding my breath for CN to reverse the decision. The DMCA came from a high up lawyer from Turner so it's most likely out of CN's hands. That being said, this project has been a joy to work on and one of the best projects I've ever been apart of. If an opportunity came along to continue working on it, I know myself and several others from the dev team would be on board.
how cool would it have been to legacy with that stepping sound effect and manual shooting mode go everything is great I hope soon more of your new video what was legacy Sometimes I regret not giving more time retro fusionfall before closed, I was blinded by the updates I forgot the most important thing, enjoy it every day this always happens to me when there is nothing new I lose interest when you want to play it again it goes like the original and retro que genial hubiera sido legacy con ese efecto de sonido al pisar y modo disparar manualmente vaya todo es genial espero pronto mas de tu nuevo video lo que fuera sido legacy aveces me arrepiento por no darle a mas tiempo fusionfall retro ante cerrara, fui cegado por las actualizaciones que me olvide de lo mas importante disfrutarlo cada dia siempre me pasa esto cuando no hay nada nuevo pierdo interese cuando quiere jugarlo de nuevo se va como el original y retro
Each boss was going to have its own move set with some type of strategy to defeat it. The only boss that made it past the concept stage was Fusion Swampfire but it wasn't developed enough for me to feel comfortable putting it in this video. Fusion Swampfire had two stages (normal and ultimate) and had a punishing move that dealt a ton of damage if not dodged, Swampfire could heal their health and summon smaller spawns to assist. Moves were dodgeable by using the dodge mechanic or using nano powers (like Buttercup's stun power). The boss system got to be pretty technical and complex and I drew most of the inspiration for its behavior from Kingdom Hearts 2.
The Universe team is still together in some capacity. While we don't have any plans to rebrand the Legacy project, we have other projects that we are working on. A lot of the skills we gained from working on Retro and Legacy are being used and our ideas that were planed for FusionFall are being implemented in our unrelated projects. It takes months to develop a game so there isn't anything specific I can share but we are still creating games.
I'll probably post a video showing character creation in action on my twitter. There was a feature that gave items a toggle next to their icon that once pressed, would change the item appearance. It didn't make the video because we never set an item up for it, but it would have been used for things like having a hood up or down, or if you're wearing gloves or no gloves, etc.
@@Ambfibia It was saved the local machine and encrypted. It also was saved with a hashing technique that prevented the save from being tampered with. The save on the local computer was the main save file, but it was also going to be backed up to your Universe account in case anything happens or you log into a different computer.
Unfortunately we are not, the entire FusionFall Universe team is complying to the cease and desist that was sent to us. It's a sad situation and we want to be as transparent as possible with what we made and that we had to stop.
@@Funske At least your development team isn't as crazy and ignorant as the community and other development teams. Hopefully all of you stay true to that statement.
@@Funske Maybe you'd be interested in reviving another MMO called Firefall by the defunct Red 5 Studios. The Melding Wars is developing tools of some sort.
I mean couldn't you just keep going but removing all CN stuff out of it, like just names and npcs but keep the core game the same. There aren't many mmos that function like fusionfall so I am sure most people would understand these changes to be made...
That kinda just ruins it though. People wanted to play legacy because of not only improved stuff but to also be able to see their favorite cartoon network characters and such.
