Nft = imagine you have a Monet painting and want to have a permanent way to show who currently owns it (according to a contract and list of who has purchased or gifted it to/from). So you make a web link that is living on multiple computers so if someone tries to fake the chain of ownership the other computers (in the block chain) will alert everyone that the fake list is a liar. The link is the Nft, the painting can be burned or given away but the nft saying who owns it still exists. So if someone sells you the Nft but doesn't send you the painting, all you really own is the link, not the rights to display or make money off the painting (unless they were expressly transfered to you as part of the contract). You can (unless otherwise stated in the contract) make money selling the link (nft) and usually the creator of the nft (link) also get a percentage of the money (but depends on the contract). And everyone in the world can see everyone who ever owned the link

Which also means that the viewable object at the end of the link could be replaced and show something else at any point. The object just needs to be placed in the same web address with the same name and file extension
