It's actually smart if you think about it: bad weather/playing conditions generally favor the less skilled team. Even now there aren't very many clubs United would be less skilled than, so its to our advantage. Also a roof has another very underrated benefit: It keeps noise in and creates an incredible atmosphere.

Honestly, it's a good move. Lots of stadiums in the US have retractable roofs so sports like baseball can still play while it's raining. No more bad pitch conditions is nice, and it keeps more wind out in the winter for fans.

James Hope they won’t be given planning permission by the city council anyways because the new stand will go through one of the most important roads in the city. The road their building over leads to a children’s hospital so they will never be allowed to do it.
