That is because you don't understand technology. If you did you would have been asking why we were not using this way before this moment. You probably do more damage by being skeptical and leading others to not support future technology.

Simulating these various designs would seem to be a huge savings in money and time but a big effort on the design engineer's part. The manufacturing engineers would have to fully on board with it. You lost me at room temperature superconducting motor, I agree it is really cool, but I don't think it will happen in 30-50 years sadly, unless we get some insane software with quantum computers that can explore all possible crystals and probe their properties soon :D to be able to deal with the temperatures and the current densities, you would need a critical temperature at probably 100-200C above room temp. so Tc=400K-500K. :D At the moment it's still the cuprates that are leading the charge at about 150K without adding insane pressure in diamond anvills. it's a dreamy scenario, but Little has a theory of quasi-one-dimensional quasi-periodic metal chains that could be a clue to achieve room temperature, but at what practical use will a quasi-one-dimensional system have?

As far as I understand it, one of the problems with an axial flux motor is that when you apply power to it it can turn in either direction. A radial flux motor on the other hand will turn in the direction that the power dictates. That's probably why the radial flux motor has been in production for these past 100-plus years. It's a very novel idea to incorporate the radial flux motor into the axial flux motor. That's also how their quark motor works. That motor is used in their Regera. I think it's about 330 hp. Sounds like dark matter is the big brother.

@Phariseehunter - not necessarily safe operating temp... but full dissipate the thermals, without the help of ancillary cooling. I'm sure the motor is plumbed for the latter... but that's still a ton of power from a considerably small mass. I can't imagine it surviving many of those pulls in any reasonable succession with the copper windings they show in their video.

axial motors have low rpm thresholds which mean that compact size is offset by the typically necessary gearbox which radial motors simply don't need. Thank you for the peek at what is being acted on with innovators of motor development. It still has not addressed the full potential of induction driven machines. With Tesla's bifilar induction windings, he introduced effective high amperage capacitors into his induction power production machines that effectively enabled the phase shifting of current/magnetism reactive power (self-commutating motors without Lens's law resistance) Naturally this is a designed resonance factor for both generators and motors, giving sweet-spot rpms that require less (even zero) input energy to run (eliminating the need for batteries and recharging: the bane of e-vehicles). This is not super expensive-exotic technology, but is economically disruptive as well as planetary-wide healing/life-saving easily migrated into AC motors of all kinds. It is the end of creating energy by burning matter (consumption). Eventually all the world governments will have to cooperate to save the planet from big-oil's destruction. Party on, be good to each other.

The efficiency of a motor isn't the issue, electric motors are still far more efficient than any internal combustion engine. Your even if your best case scenario motor set up was magically 100% efficient, we don't have a battery pack available right now that can hold a candle to a petrol burning engine at 30-50% efficiency, simply due to the energy density of the fuel used. Even at that level of efficiency, we can pack more punch in liquid fuel for a longer duration than a battery pack for a comparable flight range. Our battery technology is nowhere near mature enough to be competitive.

axial flux motors have been around a while, there are a lot of 3d printing guys making them. The real issue with ALL high power electric motors isnt the mechanical engineering its the electrical engineering. Your talking about a minimum of 800V @ 750 amps to get your 800hp (about 600Kw) and thats assuming 100% efficiency which isnt really a thing (probably 90-97% + mechanichal linkage losses). What that means is that your driver board needs to deliver the equivelant energy of 331 household 120v/15amp (or about 82 240v/30amp) circut breakers at full load simultaneously...... so say hello to only the manufacturer being able to work on the vehicle & since the cell packs are almost always (assembelies including the pos sense & driver boards) say hello to a battery assembly half the cost of an average US home.
