Call me crazy but yes they could of signed players or an all star before the season started but I’m ok with them believing in the young new core group and now they’re on a 5 game win streak. Before the streak I think they were one game under 500. This team is actually fun to watch, this is a team to root for (if you’re a real New England fan) this team is fast and athletic and pitching is still good. Y’all are obsessed with signing or etc etc. why not talking about the actual team and not “play pretend”
If ownership isn't behind the team, and they won't add to the team at the deadline, does it really matter that Houck is one of the best 6 inning pitchers in MLB this year? Sure--we could have a discussion about Hamilton striking out to end an inning and how he should've made contact. But Hamilton isn't on the Sox because he can hit in the clutch; he's on because we have two injuries in our infield (and apparently he has some wheels, too).
With all the talk of Cora leaving - which seems inevitable according to you & many others - I’ve heard nothing on planning for a post-Cora era. Who can replace him? There’s gonna have to b someone. It sucks to talk about, but this is the reality. What do you guys think?
I don't know if they'll promote Varitek or go outside the organization. I feel like at some point you'll run into a similar problem with Varitek--big market, wants to win guy on a small market-minded team.
