This is awesome news! We definitely want to get out and ride it. We were bummed when the news dropped because it was on our bucket list for this year. We have talked about it for a couple of years now. If ACE can keep it running for this season, we will have to get there so we don’t miss out on it! We love our historic coasters.

Relocate Leap the Dips to more confident owners and sell Skyliner to Delgrossos. Love Delgrossos but they need another coaster.

@@randomtraveler9854That’s a good idea but would that park want to make such a large expense to move an old coaster that would most likely need a lot of new wood to get in running safe and having a comfortable ride quality. It would most likely be less expensive to repair it at Lakemont. Not to mention that gives roller coaster fans another reason to visit Lakemont, two coaster experiences are better than one.

I hope someone is at some point will be able to purchase Leap the Dips and relocate it. I was there for the Leap the Dips anniversary I think last year and spoke with Christi Draves, the general manager because the ride broke down for the day before we arrived. She seemed frustrated with the park in general and was telling me how they didn't have the money to repaint the Skyliner. Leap the Dips was in need of lumber replacement and a paint job at that time and if it continues to sit with the park closed it will fall into a state of disrepair that Lakemont will never be able to fix. I fear we will see a repeat of Conneaut Lake and the Blue Streak. I was in fear for my life the last time I rode it but it had a great layout and would have been a big asset to the park and community if they would have spent the money to restore it. Joesph Todd and Keldon Holdings,LLC along with Conneaut Lake Joint Municipal Authority have no appreciation for history and I got that same vibe from Lakemont's manager.

There is no reason the Altoona area could not support a smaller regional Amusementi Park. The big mistake Lakemont made was to loose so many rides that would attract local families and group outings. There is no reason both amusements and other activities can’t coexist. However there has to be a minimum number of active amusements to attract the crowds they need to maintain the park. Coaster fans alone are too few to keep the park going. The miniature train and merry go round would help grow attendance. Then each year try to add one or more family type rides to grow the park. The roller coasters can be the stars but there needs more to attract the crowds.

I wholeheartedly agree - from an outside perspective it seemed like it lacked a real draw for those big company picnics and group outings. Build it up they’ll be fine hopefully fingers crossedp

Leap the dips is protected. Skyliner is at risk though

Leap the Dips might be to much for them to financially handle but to bad Delgrossos doesn't but Skyliner.

They are screwed I mean who will pay to play basketball and etc when regular community parks exist that allow all that for free, rides are what is mameing them whatever money they are makeing so they are rather foolish to close them all

They should just sell the coasters and shut the whole place down. Their "massive improvements" failed.

Such a shame but not a suprise. Not being from the area I only get there once or twice a year but every time it's empty. Maybe Leap the Dips can be relocated to more competent owners because it deserves better than this.
