This is the main frustration of the people living outside 100km radius of Kolkata. This Kolkata-Centric Development has to be done away with. And this will probably not happen until West Bengal gets a Chief Minister who is not a Kolkata Local.

The kind of pace we are experiencing in economic and infrastructure development, if it had happened two or three decades back bu previous government, India would have become 3rd biggest economy with well developed infrastructure by now. Great infrastructure updates for WB. All projects will gamechangers if completed. The highway projects progress is very slow in WB compared to Maharashtra. Kolkata Siliguri expressway is a welcome news hope I will travel on it. This will not only improve business and industry to North Bengal and NE but also boost tourism. Current road connectivity is very bad in this route.

But all the developments are Kolkata centric. If you get out of Kolkata and you walk towards north Bengal you will find one thing. That is far less development. In the name of renovation bridges and buildings are painted with white and blue, which is TMC's fav colour. Corruption at peak at everything.Also a hell of a state for govt job employees and also for students.

I am from wb and I know the government should take more initiative in employment and bringing more industries rather than just making infrastructure improvements if there will be employment there will growth in gdp and all in all improvement

Govt has no plans to boost infra.... no new airport, 15 years long unfinished metro rail projects, no single corridor works is in progress.... in dankuni, project cost alloted Rs 1000/- only for last 5 years. National Highways connecting North to South bengal is in dismal stage for last 12 years and there is no scope to improve it for another 4 years

Kolkata should stay like 'Kolkata '. Kolkata shouldn't be like some other cities of the world. Kolkata and London are the two cities where you can find living soul, this two cities are like living life- not like concrete's jungle. Development is the way to grow but development doesn't mean destroying the city- soul should be intact while developing, it's need planning of how to develop the city like The Kolkata- it's the city of culture _ the city of palace. Even after left government _ the rightist government like TMC didn't do anything to provide benefits for foreign investors which lead to WB's slow development or rather I'd say the reason for undevelopment of WB. The same development strategy can't work for the city of joy, for development of the city of culture_ governments should make plans according to the city and in this case for the city of palace. Government and development plan makers should understand the city first.
