I agree I think the chorus is is objectively about his addictions. But I think the song is about his reputable progression throughout his life. But the chorus is there to remind you what he had to do and why he now is addicted to percs/xans/lean. I think the drugs in the chorus are almost a metaphor for his depressions from past traumas that he had to go through to get to where he’s at right now. It’s a very sad but uplifting song.
