Andy Curry Aquawoman is an intriguing character. She has a lot of potential like Yara Flor. Sacrificing her leg for Jackson really solidifies their sibling-like bonds.
That would be "crises," and yes, it's sad we have to know what the plural for "crisis" is to talk about DC comics. Also, I think Andy would settle for Aqualass instead of "Lil' Mera!" I agree with Sasha, though: Aqualass is kinda cool, in that very Legion of Super-Heroes way.
This issue is one of the reasons I hate Future State and will never read it. I feel I would *really* like this issue and the story. However, it will end in less than a month. Great characters, but no time to do anything with them. This has been done before, and the companies don't learn.
I loved everything about this book! From the playful cover to the kick-ass ending it just delivered, for me. It made me want to know more about everything that was going on at this time but also made me really want them to not rush Andy's growth. I don't know another kid aged up before their time. I'm a new Aquaman fan but I fell pretty hard once I "took the plunge", so it's possible that this just really was a title for me and not others, as you mention. Thanks for giving the book some love and can't wait to hear what you have to say about part 2 when it arrives.
I knew something was off with the cover especially that pose of Aquawoman blocking her feet and monster blocking it. Lol Besides that I actually really like this story, it sounds absolutely fun. The adventure, trial, artwork, banter and more. Wow... I’m exited for something Aquaman based, okay future state you have surprised me.
This seems really fun, and the dark moments didn't feel overdramatic. I haven't really liked Jackson Hyde of rebirth because, even though he's supposed to be like Aqualad from Young Justice, he's just not as cool in the strong silent type as his cartoon counterpart. But this issue makes him seem a lot more interesting as a character with his relationship with Aqualass/woman rather than just "like him because he's from Young Justice."
Rather be Aqualass it sounds better and elegant But a storm theme name is cool too, Imagine the possibilities mine would be totally be Haukea, Haunani, Overcast or Kasumi I won’t give up a limb for a friend, no part of me is worth that.... I’m not making that kinda devil deal.

I'm all for the inclusion of disabled heroes if it's handled correctly but why do members of Aquaman's family always have to suffer an amputation before anybody will take them seriously?
There ae a ton of things I don't understand, What happened to Mira and Aquaman? So the comics made Kaldor-on gay? I know in the cartoon show he had a girlfriend that trained with him in the magic academy and she died in some op. So does that girl exist? If this Aquawoman can control water life, how come she didn't do that to the creature holding her? Why is Kaldor-on calling himself Aquaman? What is with the fascination with always trying to chop the limbs off of any remotely named Aqua man or Aquawoman? It is not cool and will never be cool. Perhaps if these question was answered in the video I could try to follow it better.
Personally I don't care for Andy Curry I find her to be kind of annoying and I don't get why when DC decided to have Aquaman become a father they created a new character when the could have just brought back his son Arthur jr. heck in this story they could of had Jackson Hyde call jr aqualad but have the kid want to be called aquaboy because it sounds more modern or something. I dunno it's just my opinion and before anyone says that I just hate female charterers or some stuff like that I am a girl.
The timeline of this one confuses me, it's supposed to take place in 2030 but that would put the flashback stuff only about 4 years in the future, which is not enough time for Andy to grow up this much. It would make more sense in the flashbacks were 2030 and the rest was in 2036 but I would assume the date they give is where the main story takes place.
This is the first future state comic that im actually going to go read, this story looks fire 🔥 and I've never lost a limb for a friend but I did get hit by a car pushing my boyfriend out of the way... that's sort of similar.
Why did she need to cut her leg off to get him to let go? She could have just poked him - he would have let go and she would still have a leg. Sasha, you have a great name - or you could be Comic Lass!
I would love to see that the reason Andy was still alive was because the leg she severed grew into a second her, like with a starfish. They probably didn't do that, but it'd be cool.
Anyone sleeping on Aquaman will be sleeping with the fishes ;). That aside I liked the story and while we didn't get to see everything it allows for more of their story to be told later on, no doubt thru lots of flashbacks. Still, would read and recommend this...

Watch it turn out that like the mighty starfish, the daughter of Aquaman formerly known as Aqualass now known as Aquawoman can re-grow her severed limbs...and that those severed limbs can ALSO re-grow an Aqualass, too. It's called budding and is a form of asexual reproduction and is perfectly natural and beautiful. Imagine a panel showing the severed leg in the middle of re-growing a new body. It could have a little face, and hop around a bit.

I hope Jackson and Andy outgrow Future State, their dynamic, story and personalities are just too good for just a few issues. Also, Jackson looks too hot it's unreal as Aquaman. Gay Icon.
Sorry I like Kaldur better than Jackson. It sounds more unique. Thank God they did not go with Aqualad, Kal is way more interesting. Not big on the blond dreads, but the beard and dreads are great. No to Aqualass! Yes to Aquawoman or something else with only 3 syllable. This comic seems like it has potential. Andy kinda jumps to extremes quickly. Feel like the chopping off of a limb was a bit premature. I am sure Jackson would of let go if he knew she was going to do that.
I was going to skip it. Then I read the comments all over various blogs and the DC Instagram. The racism and the homophobia and the 'Everything is so woke man' BS, so I decided to give it a go. I'm not an Aquaman reader but I loved this. The shock value was present but it wasn't done cheaply. I love Jackson and maybe it was partially my love for Kaldur on YJ that encouraged me to take the chance but I also want more representation of a gay Aquaman who is a person of colour. I really liked this flashforward approach. Plus they went Nightwing-esque beefcake with the art and I was here for that! I may have partially bought it out of spite for the phobes and racists but I'm here for more. Great video Sasha as always.
Andy reminds me of Amethyst and Debbie Deep Blue Perkins both of which were two of my faves that I wanted brought back in rebirth so I'm definitely gonna read this

I usually don't like "man, woman, boy, girl" in a name because of various reasons but also just feels a bit lazy (like yeah we can guess their gender by looking at them why bother adding it?) but always had a soft spot for 'lass' and 'lad.' Just sounds so cute. But I'd be all about it if Andy could get a gender neutral, amaz name of her own like Tempest.
I liked this issue, but it was a bit frustrating. I wanted more Andy. But the structure was cool, the art was solid. And Andi losing a limb like her dad was metal. I like Aquaman, and wish more people would too. Movie made a billion dollars!

The journey across worlds trying to get home would have turned it into Reboot! but with DC characters. I suspect that's why it didn't happen in the comic. They probably wrote it up, realized what they were doing then stopped, lamented their forgotten childhood and gone out for a drink.
Ok I loved the aqua man book but can someone tell me how aqua woman can cut off her leg in this book but then have two legs in the justice league book which takes place after aqua man? Answers please!!!
Didn’t aqualad felt the same with his superhero name at some point? I think aqualass is great for now, it’s catchy and she’s still in training after all. And I really enjoy their dynamic so far 🥰
