sorry for late response i forgot to respond to this like three different times lol for speedrunning its honestly not the greatest, if you dont have a lot of patience just the sheer amount of cutscenes you’re forced to watch can be really annoying. its good that a lot of the actual gameplay has games you can speed up and the bosses are for the most part skill based but the sheer amount of downtime compared to other games kinda sucks. for the game itself, i personally think its the best they couldve done for the console. gold already had pretty much everything you couldve asked for so there wouldnt have been a point to do it a second time. the different type of gameplay compared to other games doesnt affect it in a negative way at all and just helps you grow more connection to the characters and finding good combos. bringing back multiplayer games reminiscent of mega party games is also great. the wario cups were okay like half of the time, the score cups sucked cause you pretty much are forced to use shitty characters cause of the bonuses and you’re forced to go through the semi-gacha part of the game just to perform at a high level. other than that, i really loved what they did with the rest of the game especially with penny (obviously).
i mapped x to a in the controller settings so i can butterfly mash/alternate between the two easily for fast mashing, also makes 9 volt practice room & the boss skip easy af
