Thank you for stopping by! The heat sink that was cobbled together in the last video was tested today to see if we could give this rig a little "margin of error" if a user wanted to briefly push this radio past the manufacturer's recommendations. The key word there is BRIEFLY.
BG2FX in user manual 1.1 recommends an FT8 power level of 5 watts. Any extended usage at higher power may not bode well for you. This heat sink install is purely to give the user some flexibility in case power had to be raised for a Winlink or NBEMS information transfer.
When the radio was in transmit mode, stray RF wacked out the temperature meter, but numbers reverted to normal on receive mode. Plastic case meter with unmodified sensor wires equals temporary weirdness, but it served the purpose. Be well and stay safe! Questions/comments can be directed to N2GOP at yahoo dot com.
