Heard you say at the beginning of this video (4:30) that, "Airgun Depot is willing to take back the rifle". Jeremiah let me offer you some sage advice. Ship that rifle back to Airgun depot right now. Don't play around with it, box it up and return it for another that is properly specked out. You don't want to be chasing problems after receiving a bad rifle which was not your fault. Don't OWN their problem.
Jeremiah, just an FYI. Fx says the .30 cal requires .301 diameter slugs. .308 as you've discovered are too large for that caliber. Thanks for the vid. God Bless and good luck. Planning on getting a panthers 600 in the future.

Sorry to hear you’re having issues. I have the 600mm in .25. It’s my first FX. Had the pellet liner put in it for bench rest. Have only got to shoot it one day so far, but absolutely love it. I haven’t started tuning yet. Went with a Valdada Crusader-2 FFP. Hope you get it worked out.
I'm glad you are safe! That could have been a bad situation. Amazed that FX or AGD didn't insist you ship it back immediately to prevent this. If it were my company, I would have tested and overnighted you a new one.
Hey. First, and this is just my opinion. I've played with a couple Arken scopes and have not liked them at all. Aberration and poor glass clarity on both of them. Second, There's no way those slugs should be hard to get in. I feel like you might have had a second mix up and gotten .308 instead of .300 from NSA. Did you throw a calipper on them? Third, Get some AVS, air velocity sport, slugs. Between 62.5 up to 70 grains. That gun can push heavy for caliber slugs. Lastly, The 600 and 700MM pantheras come with the superior heavy liner. At least they are supposed to. It should shoot slugs way better than pellets. You can use any FX liner though. They are not specific to the model. Also, I agree with one of the other Comments. You Should send that gun back immediately and get a new one. Let Airgun depot deal with it. Keep up the good work with the videos!
I never buy airguns from Airgun Depot or Pyramid Air for that reason. They are the big box dealers that just ship things out and probably not testing or checking it out before sending out. I buy my airguns from Utah Airgun, Airgun of Arizona, etc.
Hey Jeramiah, FYI. FX recommends .301 diameter slugs for the panthera. As you've discovered, 308 is too large in diameter. Best of luck. God Bless and thanks for the vid.
Look inside the shroud, there is a baffle that is supposed to be threaded to the barrel. Pull it out and thread it to the barrel nice and tight. This will increase the accuracy even more.
It is a Slug Barrel from the factory. The barrel is the same 700mm that is for the Impacts. Look at tensioning the internal liner w/ 1" painters tape in 5 spots over the o rings. I would try FX Hybrids as the slug and base any slug ordered off of that DIA. Reg pressure 170-180 for heavier slugs. I am at 175-180 for my 22 shooting 40g slugs at 985.
Too much $$$$ for me to be monkey around with... That bad boy would be going back for the .22 you intended... If it were a $400 rifle I'd be willing to try to make it work as it should... 2K, its going away...
I have the same problem with getting the cross hair clear the are always a little out of focus no matter what i do. I thought this was just me not the scope. You may need to use .303 or .300 diameter slug the Nielson also carries. The rifle I have is and AEA 30 cal, I started with .308 but they were to tight so I went to .303 and this made a huge difference in the accuracy and lead foiling issues, I would send the gun back for a new one,
I'm a machinist also. I've got a new 35 Cal. I had it for 2 months, only about 105 rounds I've shot through it and started having a lot of problems Barrel falling out of it hammers loose hung up in between the openings where the side set screws at. Was questioning about the barrel movable as it was. Called the tech at I'm not going to downgrade who I got it from. Apparently he's not very familiar with the 35 caliber I come to conclusion. Getting ready to call FX in the Carolinas to talk to the tech there. But I'm not very happy with it like you said for $5,200 very disappointed with it.
Yeah, I ended up using locktite on all of my moving parts and I have not had it come loose again using 243 Loctite. But I agree it’s a shame for the price.
I do want a .35 cal at some point from FX because of the power that it can achieve and the shot count. I just hope I dont have to do all the same stuff I did to my other guns.
Well somehow I ended up with another thirty-five caliber Barrel. But I'm still trying to get mind even hold a group it's still spread all over in 6 in now since I tightened everything up for the last 3 weeks I hadn't even gone back out and reshot it still kind of pissed waiting for our Mack to get through this week and let him settle down and then get in touch with everybody and see what the hell's going on with mine if not I'm going to order me a 22 caliber pellet Barrel. See if they'll this extra Barrel I got we'll trade in on it or something who knows
I had a heck of a time for my 25 caliber impact ended up switching to some Zan projectiles and that made a huge difference and I started to locktite everything down as I stated earlier, but I probably shot 2000 rounds trying to figure it out.
The pellet/slug probe is deliberately engineered to have some play in it, otherwise the barrel O-ring will easily get nicked from the slightest misalignment. So that play is there for it to enter through the barrel O-ring snugly without damaging it.
Sorry to post so many messages but I'm an airgun technician and i can't stay silent when I see important issues which need to be addressed ... Actually your damaged shroud thread cap might NOT have been for .22 cal, but rather the correct .30 cal .. since you were feeding it over-sized slugs, that would be enough to sheer it off and cause damage to the thread cap as well as the liner. The sheered-off piece would tell the tale, when it's inner dia is measured that would tell you what cal it really was.
First Focal reticle are like spider 🕷 web material. All Target shooters use second Focal plane. I like SFP for hunting and faster acquisition. SFP are less expensive. But that's me. Gotta love ❤️ Orion. I'm using em on my Panthera
I went with the valve installed. Without it I would’ve saved about $40 but I read that they test them for leaks when installing the valve so that was just one less headache for me plus now I can swap it from Gun to gun without having to install a valve.
I’m pretty much at the bottom of Michigan , but I will be going there sometime. I’ve never been to an airgun only store, so I am pretty stoked to go and see that place.
The 600 & 700 mm come with "slug barrels" so you should be good to go. Have you asked FX what slug they use to factory tune the Panthera? Might give you a good starting point weight/diameter wise. I have a .22/700 coming and FXUSA replied that they use the 30 gr H&N slugs for tuning. Wonder if the (damaged) slug you showed mis-fed and loaded canted. Maybe there's a burr (at the TP?) shaving some lead off rhe slug resulting in poor groups. Pellets are more ductile/tolerant to damage. Good to hear that your Panthera is shooting pellets well, I'm pleasantly surprised at the accuracy at that velocity. I don't need/want the range that slugs have so I'll be retuning to JSB Monster Redesigns after I'm done exploring slugs. Have you decided if you're going to stick with the .30 or exchange it for a .22? .22 is my preferred caliber (for squirrels and rabbits with the occasional raccoon) but if your primary use will be hunting groundhogs then I'd go with a .25 or a .30. Slugs should be .300" not .308" bro .. The FX barrel is European speck and should be 7.62mm not 7.8mm which you were feeding it. I also would recommend you change your liner, or at least inspect it, because the liner has a choke in it and an oversized slug would bulge out that choke if it reached that far in the barrel.
So what happened next? I'm looking into buying a .30 here in Sweden because the licensing options for say a .22 makes it a hassle with the police administration. A .30 can do 150+ J which means it would be good for class 4 hunting and therefore easier to buy. It's hard to find any reviews on the .30 cal Panthera. I would assume it should be even better than a .22, shot count aside, but I have yet to find any good reviews with it. Did they solve your problems?
the skirt of a pellet is often wider than the head... under impression the FX30 is a .300 -.301 but that's a guess on my part... don't think i've ever heard anyone successfully shoot .308 out of a 30... My Texan .308 likes those 65's with almost no hammer and a 1800 psi fill. if i remember that tune yields avgs of high 900's w/good accuracy at 100 yds (4 shoots tight - 5th opens group to about 2.5"). These will exceed 1100 fps with 3000 fill & full hammer preload. i dont want to be a smart ass, but have you tried to addjust your scope? first you set the paralax on infinity than aim towards the sky (never in the sun) and look for up to 3 seconds in your scope and no more after adjusting the focus in the front of the optics. Your vision is loosing its power and you have to readjust your scope each few years that way.
