Dead ass though. This game has become so soft and the villains are deliberately too edgy. Someone like VanCleef is a way better villain, even if he is weaker than an Incarnate. He has a tragic backstory, his motives aren’t entirely disagreeable and brings to question the morals of the people who caused him to go down that path. That’s a good villain. That’s good writing. Cut every recent villain in Warcraft and they bleed soy milk.
I will be very surprised if the fight with Fyrakk doesn't end with his sister hugging him and then him having flashback memories of their childhood, you know, sharing an icecream when Fyrakk dropped his, everyone laughing at Fyrakk's milk moustache after a big gulp, both of them crying after their grandpa dragon passed away. Then he steps back and says, in his Mark Hamill Joker voice, "Sister, all I wanted was to be powerful", to which she replies, "don't you see, brother, you were powerful all along. You had the power of love". Then all the Aspects cry and shit. Am I close?
if anyone else said it, I would say f off xD but Kalegos saying it make sense and I didn't feel it was bad writing and completely fine. since it was his theme and what he learned through the Blue Dragonflight lore and questing in this expansion.
what exactly do you want instead? alexstrasza coming out as transgender homosexual ? vyranoth taking pride in being nonbinary intersectional lesbian trying to start litle dragon brainwashing nursery and pushing them to be constantly offended activists ?
I thought people were just being dramatic when they said it was bad but this is genuinely some “morbin time” type dialogue. 19 years and this is the best they could do LMAO
Really is just a power of friendship vibes. Its pretty lame. Also I feel like Fyrakk got turned into a lamer version of deathwing. It all just got resolved way too easy.
19 years of getting worse, especially since BFA. We've already gone from dark fantasy to generic "save the world" plots and and now we're going to B-tier comic book "save the universe" cosmic battle nonsense. They can't write interesting characters anymore and killed all of the interesting ones they had, so they just keep upping the dose of "epicness."
@@bonefetcherbrimley7740 in a few expansions we will also swap out Ebyssian for John Cena. Just straight John Cena. Ebyssian will get his own spin off game.
Azeroth technically isn't a Titan yet. A World Soul isn't a Titan until it reaches that stage of growth. World Souls always become Titans, that anyone knows of, but 'true' Titans are of Order and are incorruptible. In the World Soul stage, they can be corrupted and become Fel Titans (like Sargeras was trying to do) or Dark Titans (like the Old Gods are trying to do)... or Death Titans (Dreadlords). Once a World Soul fully matures into an... Order Titan (it's never explicitly stated to my knowledge that Titans are inherently of Order, other than them adopting that alignment for the sake of their own 'health'), to deal with it you have to just outright kill it. Azeroth is supposed to become a Titan strong enough to be able to rule the multiverse and all of its Timeways. So just about everyone wants to kill Azeroth now because Azeroth can legitimately kill anyone or anyThing that it wants to, presumably soon.
Unlucky for you we already know exactly where the story is heading and Azeroth has been a titan the whole time :). So it just further compounds the shit tier writing except now we have to wait 7 more years for another chance at decent writing. Fun!@@Veldrusara
Also: Merithra doing the Nelf boob jiggle while saying "We must stop him from destroying our world this is way to seeeeeerious champyen" is way too funny tbh 😂
Later they went skipping along in the medow sniffing the flowers and hugging trees. And all the mean old people withered and died. And sparkles rained down from the sky... the end A+
@@chickensauna I mean.. even sarkareth still got some final dialogue before finally dead... is the last raid boss of the expansion is just.... lower than sarkareth? XD
@@ValkyrionX2 Sarkareth's final words had to do more with Sabellian and Wrathion than Sarkareth himself...... That's why the cutscene exist... Fyrrak doesn't need one...
how did we go from the Deathwing finale to this after so much progression. It's like dragonflight and cata should've switched places in terms of the threat and badassery from the antagonists.
For real, I don't know what blizzard have done with their writers, we had Arthas destroying a whole damn city for just a little infected grain, Malfurion summoning thousand of wisps to kill Archimonde and all of those wisps and the world tree gone to atoms, etc etc, but instead writers thought it was a good idea to "Yeah guys, when I say "Im not alone" Fyrakk will stop his axe before choping my head and you all will teleport in, although none of y'all said a single word through the whole expac but well, you all were there bcz we are family :)", I really hope Metzen starts to shake things up and make some interesting plots and story cause man, the Disney effect is getting annoying.
To be fair that is all warcraft 3...so far anyway anytime world of warcraft tries to branch out and do something new it shows time and time again that they don't have the ability to produce the magic that warcraft 3s storytelling had.
So who wants to explain to this mouth breather that different people worked on Warcraft III 20 fucking years ago and Wow now? Seriously this isn't even the first time that exact scene has happened and yet you seem to think this is only a new thing, always love it when people who started playing this expac start talking about how far down the game has gone....
@michielblancquaert2996 ehh not really they made some changes that honestly out them in a corner writing wise lile why must there always be a lich king why didn't we just find another way to put the armor back in ice. Why did we defeat arthas in only one expansion. Wish he defeated us at the end and we had to co.e back next expansion and free ourselves from his control.
I feel like the exact moment their writing team died was Sylvanas Vs. Tyrande. Tyrande gets into an epic fight, Elune abandons her, and then everything after that....*fart*. Cool build up into whatever the hell the Jailer and Sylvanas wanted.
I can’t put my finger on it, but the way they speak to each other in the ending cinematic is just weird. The way they respond to each other with big dramatic statements that seem aimed into open space, rather than at the previous speaker. It’s less of a conversation and more like each person is reading a teleprompter and other people just happen to be there. Strange choice.
I very genuinely think that is because this is written by chatGPT. I'm not sure how much of the expansion is, but the final cutscene especially feels like it was. Wow writing has always been bad, but this is bad in a very specific way thats familiar if you have spent any time trying to wrestle chatGPT into spitting out a coherent story.
Did Vyranoth just one shot Odyn? Ok, correct me if I'm wrong but Odyn is much older than Vyranoth right? He also wasn't in stasis for 25k or however long years right? He is also the prime designate of keepers right? If all of that is true, how in the hell is he iceblocked by a dragon that wasn't even powered by azeroth yet? Also, I have to agree with the rest. Way too cheesy ending. The game is called world of WARcraft not ponycraft.
How does a multi-million dollar company, still struggle to write dialogue and plot at a intermediate school level? Blizzard has teams of visual artists that are second to none, but their writers hardly convey any sort of qualifications what so ever. Finishing eachothers' sentences?? No one with an honest education in the field would let that slide.
The more i think about it, the more I genuiny beleive this was written by a bot. I have read an article saying the blizz is starting to use AI... and as someone who used to RP with chatGPT before I got pissed at it for ruining the internet, the story melting more the longer it goes and the 'everything was a misunderstanding and we are all friends!' Is VERY chatGPTcore. ChatGPT would try to make everything light and happy and no matter what i did to it to try and get it to spit out a plot with any conflict at all.
Is Vyranoth now the strongest among the 6 current Aspects? She's a full on primal incarnate. She is already at an aspect level of power. She was never depowered. By further empowering her, she has now double upgrades/blessings unlike the other 5. Her power is equivalent to 2 aspects.
@grumbledore424 rip Maraad indeed. As much as I didn't like Warlords it was another expansion that had some great characters they just abandoned at the door.
In BfA they at least were ambitious with their ideas, like that ballsy (but failed) N'zoth patch. Now it's just Evil McBadguy 31 craving power, with the only interesting thing being the Emerald Dream (where nobody was hyped about for some reason... like seriously; we've been waiting to see this zone since Vanilla and nobody is talking about the fact that we finally see it officially).
@@m1bl4n Prbably because this version of the ED is not very "dreamlike". It looks like an updated version of Val'Sharah. Your point regarding this patch's villian of the week is on point. " I want power to burn all!" just puts me sleep and don't care. Worst of all is the later cinematics during the patch (including the ending). Pure trash
As someone who just doesn't have the time but really likes the WoW stories: Thank you so much for uploading the cutscenes! I hope you'll continue to do so in the future,
The vibe is that of a cartoon for 8 year olds. Where are the adult themes? Not a single child plays this game lol. I want to feel disturbed, i want to feel uneasy. I want to be asked profound questions with not so simple answers and come out the other side thinking in new ways. That's what good stories do.
@@dennyahh nah he's got a point. this whole "coming together as a family" was a little weird. where's the badassery of these games? It feels like a Disney movie
Lol, I guess idk about nowadays, but I had played WoW when it first came out. I was in third grade then. Played it all the way to Warlords of Draenor (great disappointment after the incredibly long wait at the endgame of Pandaria). So until mid college! About half of my childhood and all of my adolescence.
We started expansion with tokyo drifting with our dragons Ended it with "family" If next expansion doesn't end with thrall and anduin riding with their horses in different ways and end with thrall saying "you will always be my brother" ThenI don't want it
Ah the power of friendship and family. I was hoping WoW would take a more serious approach with Metzen back, but I see the story is still written like its on Cartoon Network.
I tire of the constant "you thought I would fight you, but it's my disciple!" Every...single...time. (Dio meme here.) But at least Fyrakk was making things happen.
@@m1bl4n In Legion if you look into Warrior Artifact History you find that Odyn created the Valkyr through enslavement and subjugation of their spirits primarily. In Shadowlands you find out that Odyn worked with the Jailer to sacrifice one of his eyes to peer into the Shadowlands. In DF you find out Odyn erased much of the world’s original history and replaced it with pro Titan propaganda because he believed the mortal races are too fragile to know the truth. We also find out he thinks dragons are unintelligent species better fit to serve etc. So not a lot of people like him by this point. Of course I still find him to be a real interesting character.
@@m1bl4n Yeah lets just say Odyn has a LOT of skeletons in his closet, and might be the poster child of the titans not being the force of good we were told they were.
when blizz dug their deepest hole in wow's history and u think that this is rock bottom, somehow blizz manages to go even lower, i'm surprised they did not go full Stitch and go around saying; Ohana means family
its been awhile since I watched your videos @Athelarius, glad to see your still posting all the cutsceens. I do have a few questions, are they all in chronological order? or are they shown how you encounter them in the game? also is the ending song the Nordrassil Nightsong?
Hello there. 1st one is "Amirdrassil blooms", 2nd one is "Fyrakk wounds Alextrasza", 3rd one is "Fyrakk enters Amirdrassil" and "Vyranoth beats Odyn" is kind of a side quest in my opinion, I did it last. After you defeat Fyrakk in the raid, you get the "Defeat cinematic" and then "Aspects are empowered"
The idea behind it is likely, that reality and Azeroth is the sum of all cosmic forces, but evers single cosmic force sees itself as superior to the others and by that is fighting for domination = divided. This leads to that eternal war that is the background of WoW what - as every war - is a giant waste of energy. Zovaal on top of that saw the whole reality thing with the mortals as a waste on top, instead of uniting all that power under one cosmic force. from his PoV of course Death and him, what even makes some kind of sense, when mortals lands in the shadowlands anyway, like a second, much longer "life". This was of course not what Sylvanas wanted, so she went against him. It's still unclear how much of Zovaal had been like this from the start or how much he was distorted when he was dominated by the other death gods. Just like Sylvanas he became a victim of Domination magic and even lost part of his soul, likely what united them in the first place. Wasn't his choice to become the Jailer of the Maw, just like it wasn's Sylvanas choice to become an undead Banshee Queen.
I know a lot of people are calling it cringe, or stupid, or whatever. I don't think it is. What I DO think is that we've seen this type of conversation and events before, a lot. Mostly I blame Disney for that. But they're not the only ones. What was once heart-warming or epic, now all seems... overdone and silly. I'm not sure how to rectify that.
nothing. The original aspects were all made with a role in mind for each. Vyranoth here just got aspects powers (whatever that means, its not like the unpowered aspects were ever actually powerless anyway) but she isnt a true aspect like the others, being still a proto-dragon and all unlike the dragons that stopped being proto-dragons once they became aspects.
I haven't played this in ages and therefore am vastly out of touch with the lore but I liked that no matter what happens...when the dragon mommy calls for aid, everyone drops whatever it was they were doing and help out, lol. Everyone knows it's back to murdering each other afterwards, but mother comes first.
Asmongold said it best. "World of Warcraft is just big, hairy, sweaty men beating the crap out of other big, hairy, sweaty men." aka boys will be boys. Which they aren't allowed to be anymore. 🤣
I swear this comment section makes me wonder what wow players want when it comes to lore. why are wow players SO UNSATISFIED when it comes to story or ANYTHING in the game
god this whole thing, especially the fyrakk defeat cinematic, seems like it was written by chatgpt. ....no seriously, genuine question, was it written by chatgpt?
This is the expansion before metzens return, but we'll see what the worldsoul saga has to offer it will be the first expansions in a while that will go through Metzen
Eh, I'm fine with this ending. It sets up flaws within the titans that has been hinted at for a while, it giving the aspects purpose in defending their world still, and not having to answer to the titans anymore.
@@janl5879 I'm pretty certain at this point their going to declare azeroth is more or something different to a titan and the titans wanted to make her into one of them but she's even more special then that
Where is the defeat cinematic? After the kill this happens. But then there is a cinematic where Alex and Myri heals Vyranoth. When did she got hit? This is so gross and confusing
i hope he kills her and i hope it will make us feel something. not because i don‘t like her or anything but wow really needs some consequences and serious, everlasting changes in its world. no one dies, we always win, the world is always saved. legion was the last expansion that felt dangerous and threatening… dragonflight felt so harmless and whatever that i wasn‘t "concerned" for a single second. i hope the war within will change that for the better
@@skullkiddsk I hope that with what Metzen said about the next 3 exps is that we actually lose. Like void actually consuming the world or some shit. Probing for a complete revamp of the game or something. Like Wow 2 or something on a new engine because bloody hell it gets stale. Win everytime with little to no casualties, win with power of friendship or some other BS.
Since she never lost her primalIst power and became empowered by Azeroth she probably had the juice to mop him up now. That said he is smarter and more driven, with prep time he probably handles her easy.
@@jackbower9087I mean yeah wtfm this trio had so much potential at the start and Fyrak went full Disney vilain, Vyranoth got a strong independant women moment and Iridikron just got the hella out of this xpac before the writing team could fock him up. what is going on ??
Metzen needs to stuff those writers into their lockers. How the heck did WoW reach Carebear-levels of writing? How did all of Azeroth's greatest show up, say NOTHING, and fail at hitting a single dude with spells and projectiles. At least make the cutscene interesting by having Fyrakk take a few hits, block/dodge some more, then bail instead of outright fleeing immediately.
Every single boss has left a fight so their sidekick gets killed instead every single time. It's like Adam West's Batman said, "hey Robin I have to go you can fight these 30 guys by yourself," and then is surprised when Robin ends up in a coma with every bone shattered. 🤣🤣
