Had to get the clutch sorted out after the engine started...just wouldn't be right to not try and get this thing moving under its own power again. The tires and the chain are completely shot, but if the clutch was fixed I could move it around just for fun.
All went well, some fresh DOT3 brake fluid and got all the maple syrup out of the master cylinder. A little push with the bike in gear and the clutch in broke apart the seized clutch plates.
I'm having more faith with this thing as time goes on. I know it's going to need some work on the top end but at least I know where it's going now.

For anyone wanting some good quality JIS screwdrivers at a decent price, Yambits Limited in the UK has a different sets, including impact ones like this, they are mail order and have a range of tools and loads of Yamaha parts for just about all models.

Yep..pinned this comment because it's true! The JIS driver I bought was on Amazon Canada for $20 CAD. I bought 2 sizes (#2 & #3). I also have a larger 5/8" JIS impact as well as replaced all my small 1/4" bits with JIS. Wouldn't have it any other way. Yambits is amazing and I've already got a $2,000 wish list written up for them.

Those Vessel JIS impacta screwdrivers also can act as a semi impact driver as they’re spring loaded on the shaft, but I wouldn’t go belting them too much.

@@minerma True - I got the #2 and #3 size and that’s just what they’re for - light duty use when it comes to the impact side of it. They are great to have but all my “heavy lifting” is done with my 5/8 impact driver and I have JIS bits for that as well.

Hello from Germany, when you bleed, put the lower hose in a container with old fluid so that it doesn't draw air. Then you can simply pump and you don't have to open and close the screw.

Good tip - especially when the lines are empty.

Another good result👍 Both of my sight glasses had started to bow out and crack, thanks to the very strong UV light here that destroys plastic very quickly. But there is replacement sight glasses on Ebay in the correct size. I found a exhaust system in Australia, still in its packing box, made an offer, and got it😀 It was pricey, but worth it. My one has been butchered by someone trying to fit a muffler from another model onto it.

I bought a 20 pack of these from Amazon as well. Figured I'd need them after breaking the first couple trying to get 'em in. They're pretty much all identical (18mm) but some are just made better than others. J.W. Winco has EN542 spec sight glasses of much better quality but you pay the price. I saw that muffler!!! You got that??? That's pretty bad-a$$ man...good on ya too. That was one hell of a catch.

@@KensWorldRestorations Yeah that exhaust is a good score, I wish i could find one like that for my 86 GSX-R1100😆 The guy i bought it off rang me from Australia about the shipping, and we had a good yak. Turns out he is selling a warehouse full of NOS Yamaha parts from 80s 90s era bikes. It used to belong to the Australian importers for Yamaha, but after Yamaha themselves took over in the mid 90s this warehouse was just left, untouched since 96. He said theres so much stock, what he's listed has barely scratched the surface.

If you’re looking for Japanese bike stuff they’re is import monster, I think they’re Aus based but they cover the yahoo auctions in Japan, very good for looking for cheap, good quality and rare Japanese parts and bikes
