Nice one Magne,❤ what a treat.. her voice is so lovely, I got chills watching the whole video. It was beautifully done. This is goner be fun, coz you told us of this great band and you know I will go check out more of them, love the use of the violin, it adds that folk element to the song, it got me thinking of Jethro Tull... which is more proge rock/folk...try a track called "Mother Goose" off the LP Aqualung.... thanks again for our treat.... Bless ya and stay strong🙏
Gåte have recently released a new song "Solfager og Ormekongen" from their upcoming album "Nord" (to be released at the beginning of December). Just like the preceding EP "Til Nord" released earlier this year and unlike previous recordings, the arrangements will be stripped down to acoustic versions. Four out of the ten songs on "Nord" were already included on "Til Nord" - I'll buy the new album nevertheless - and in addition to so far unreleased acoustic versions of "Jomfrua Ingebjørg" and "Sjåaren", it contains four entirely new songs ("Solfager og Ormekongen", "Svik", "Talande Tunger" and "Sigurd og Trollbrura"). I'm really looking forward to this release!

What an awesome band. Her voice is beautiful. Just ordered their 'Svevn' album. I've enjoyed watching you fall for music that I love and it's great to get some recommendations coming back from you. Please keep them coming, particularly bands like this that I am not likely to have heard of here in the UK.
Oh what a treat... That brings back memories. Thank you Magne for your reaction. @shadegate If you like svevn I can only recommend Iselilja. What an album!
Just in case you haven't already heard/read about this: Gåte will participate in the Norwegian pre-elections of the Eurovision Song Contest this year with their song "Ulveham". Even though the length of the original version of this song had to be reduced by about 50% to fit the length allowed at the ESC, I think the song still works. Here's the link to the uncut original version: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oHX8fSUFcdI.html
Thank you, Thank you Magne!!!!! GÅTE was amazing... hmmm gonna need a few hours to get to know them better. Ok so maybe for one day or if perchance you decide to make a series about other countries folk songs, I'll leave this suggestion it's called Vou-me embora vou partir (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--uQAzQVCM3c.html) it is about leaving... leaving your village, your city, your country insearch of a better life or at least a different life. I'll not tell a lot more about it because I think it will surprise you. Again thank you Magne for sharing this with us but now i'll have to go and listen to GÅTE .... be right back
Oh yes ! Exactly what I was hoping for! Gåte is great, and I was hoping to get more people to discover them! Thank you again for your reccomandation! Now, go and enjoy Gåte! Peace and love ❤️M
Nice reaction and good choice. there should be a lot more reactions to gåte. their music deserves an international revival. the story and lyrics are part of it, but most norwegians probably dont understand half of it and havent looked into it, but still enjoyed the music. so keep doing them, and maybe you will inpsire more. both new and old stuff. :) one of my favorite is stengd dør. I even tried writing an english translation if you want to look for it in the comments.
Weird: Yesterday, I posted a comment about Gåte's new song "Svarteboka" featuring Djerv's vocalist and also included a link to the clip and now the comment is gone (or at least doesn't show up). Did you get a notification?
@@Magnereacts I don't know why sometimes posts disappear immediately. There's no recognizable pattern behind this. If AI is responsible, the "I" in this case stands for idiocy.
@@Magnereacts Hopefully, you will get this one: they have released another new song titled "Skarvane" (just an audioclip) which you find here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oAeqA0Cvcjg.html
About two weeks ago, Gåte have released an official videoclip to a new song titled "Svik" from their album "Nord": ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bO1bLlYUvI4.html @Magne: Jeg har skrevet et svar til kommentaren til Theodupreez under videoen til Don't Shut Me Down, men den vises ikke. Kan du sjekke om den har havnet i "held for review"?
Oh this is gorgeous... Id love to see you respond to Faun sometime. Please look up translations, but near and dear to me are "Kaltes Nacht" (Cold Night), and "Walpurgisnacht" which is essentially a pagan holiday. I forget the meaning of the second, but both have videos. And I LOOOOOOVE Kaltes Nacht... Its so sadly romantic. Edit: Wilde Rose is gorgeous too and Id think youd like it, but no video. A very near fave to Kalte Nacht.
unfortunately they are little known outside of norway, it seems to me that it was intentional that they have little or no great interest in becoming known outside of norway, as i have already tried to make them better known through an internet radio moderator who also does interviews, but he never got an answer to his request
Hello! Thank you for watching! When gåte was at their peak i think they were known all over the world? I remember then as world superstars in the beginning of the Millennium 😊
@@Magnereacts To be honest, I was surprised that they even started making music again, I was at least very sad that they stopped because they were already very good back then and as you can see it's still a talented band
@@jensr.3409 In August 2005, thus just a few months before they split up, they did a little tour in Germany. I saw them in Cologne, but it was a small audience. I also know that they played a concert at a folk festival somewhere in the US the same year, but that was pretty much all. I also know that "Iselilja" was officially released in Germany (with a different album cover). They were very big in Norway back then, but unfortunately rather unknown everywhere else. They haven't played outside Norway since then, except for the Urkult festival in Sweden. Luckily, I've seen them twice in Oslo (in 2010 and 2019). I also had tickets for two concerts of their unplugged tour in March 2020 in Norway, but that tour got cancelled because of the pandemic. I wish there were more reaction videos to their songs. I once recommended "Hemnarsverdet" to a reaction channel, but I heard that it got blocked. When I e-mailed Magnus about it, he said that they didn't block anything, thus it must have been either the record company or the publisher. Maybe it might be safer with one of the excellent live-clips on their official channel. Gunnhild's powerful voice might also be something for all the vocal coaches out there. I sometimes have got the impression that it's always the same names popping up on each and every channel. I don't know if this is a random question, but since you like Gåte, have you also heard of/anything by Bergtatt?
