"Representations of calendars and time at Göbekli Tepe and Karahan Tepe support an astronomical interpretation of their symbolism" Martin Sweatman, Göbekli Tepe, an archaeological site in southern Turkey, features several temple-like enclosures adorned with many intricately carved symbols. It is located centrally among a group of pre-pottery Neolithic sites which include Karahan Tepe and Sayburç. Earlier work provided an astronomical interpretation for some of its symbolism. Here, that earlier interpretation is supported and extended by showing how V-symbols on Pillar 43 in enclosure D at Göbekli Tepe can be interpreted in terms of a lunisolar calendar system with 11 epagomenal days, which would make it the oldest known example of its type. Furthermore, it is shown how Göbekli Tepe’s 11-pillar enclosures and a megalithic 11-pillar pool structure at nearby Karahan Tepe can also be interpreted in terms of the same lunisolar calendar system. Other V-symbols at Göbekli Tepe are also interpreted in astronomical terms, and it is shown how the Urfa Man statue and a wall carving at Sayburç that display V-symbol necklaces can be interpreted as time-controlling or creator deities. Symbolic links with later cultures from the Fertile Crescent are explored. Throughout, links are made with the Younger Dryas impact which potentially provides a resolution to Cauvin’s theory for the origin of the Neolithic revolution in the Fertile Crescent.

There seems to be a lot of emphasis put on observing the stars and space around the earth by earlier cultures of humans. This theory has a lot going for it since the math adding up the V's adds up to common lengths of the year we use today. If this explanation and description of a comet strike becomes settled and accepted it could lend a big leg up for the so called Younger Dryas event.

The lunar month/solar year idea is quite possible. But the link to his zodiac idea is pretty weak. His previous paper that he cites has a lot of problems that haven't been addressed which he would need to for any of the rest of his hypothesis to be supported. Most of it is a whole lot of conjecture which if true would support this conjecture which if true would support this conjecture... "Seven birds possibly symbolizing the Pleiades on the base of Pillar 18" - Seven things in a straight line represent a constellation? This is the big problem with trying to find evidence to support you pre-conceived hypothesis rather than formulating the hypothesis based on the data you have

I just looked at the paper again and noticed a big problem with the V-symbol calendar proposed. He cuts off the top of the pillar in the picture which has more V-symbols. These have to be accounted for, he can just pick the ones he wants to fit his theory and ignore the rest. More of the same problem he has with his earlier work.

Does this mean that Graham Hancock and Randall Carlson are right?

No. Because this is just one person assuming a lot of things that can't be proven.

It is a restatement of ideas and conclusions that they have supported in the past. Like I say in the video - it is likely to “ruffle feathers”, especially among archaeologists. Intriguing hypothesis though.

@@TheHiddenHistoryChannel it's quite intriguing and worthy of being investigated. No matter if it is confirmed or dismissed.

Not at all. M.Sweatman asserts that pillar 43 is a record of a roughly 12500 year old comet impact in support of the YDIH. Hancock asserts that it is a record of the sky in roughly our time and is possibly a warning of a future Taurid comet impact. But neither do anything other than propose these hypotheses.
