Hehe I may have overreacted there a bit. Commented while I was still in the zone. I'm okay now, I think. Understand a brother, all this is foreign to me.
Dear Nadia, both are the songs of Turkish Alevis. Alevis are a religious group in Turkey, not to be confused with Alewites in Syria. They are followers of Imam Ali, the brother-in-law of Prophet Muhammed. Alevism is a mystical belief that is rooted in Islam and Sufism with some traditions of old Turkic beliefs. It is based on humanistic ideals of love and tolerance expressed in mystical poems instead of strict rules, passed on through oral tradition.
The first deyiş(Alevi songs are called deyiş) says: ondört bin yıl gezdim divanelikte (I wondered around for 14 thousand years as a madman-mad/lover of the Creator) sıtk-ı ismin buldum pervanelikte (I came up with my name "sıtkı" during this period) içtim şarabını mestanelikte (I drank wine of Creator-My love for the Creator made me like drunk as I am entranced with that love) kırkların ceminde dara düş oldum (I am questioned at the Cem* ritual - Alevis' religious practice where they also play baglama and dance to enter a hypnotic state where you can lose your connection with this world and come closer to the Creator) güruh-u naci'ye özümü kattım (I shedded my blood for the güruhu naci - virtuous society) insan sıfatından çok geldim gittim (I am reincarnated many times as human) bülbül oldum firdevs bağında öttüm ( I sing in the Jannat-ul-Firdous like a nightingale - nightingale symbolizes the lover) bir zaman gül için zara düş oldum ( I was knocked down for my love for the rose - rose symbolizes the Beloved, the Creator)
The second one has a sad story behind: According to story, Pir Sultan’s family came originally from Yemen and was descended from Imam Ali’s grandson, the fourth Imam Zeynel-Abidin.His family settled in north of Sivas. One day when the seven-year-old was pasturing his father’s sheep he fell asleep and began to dream. In his dream he saw Hacı Bektaş Veli(Alevi/Bektashi leader) and he gave him the name Pir Sultan. Thus he found himself among those on the path seeking truth, playing and singing his poems with the name Pir Sultan, and his fame became widespread. Some time later, in the village of Sofular, there lived a certain Hızır who, hearing of Pir Sultan’s fame, ventured to Banaz. Hızır spent seven years with Pir Sultan (for some time as his disciple); then one day he came to the Pir asking for his favor and advice as to what post he should eventually assume. Pir Sultan predicts that Hızır would become a great man (pasha) who would one day return to hang him. In due course Hızır goes to Istanbul and with Pir Sultan’s support he continues there and becomes a pasha. Finally he becomes the Vezir (governor) of Sivas, where he gains a reputation for suppressing the poor, doing illegal things, and dishonesty. Meanwhile a decree (fetva) is declared by the Sultan forbidding the mention of the name of the (Safavid) Shah and giving orders to kill those followers of Ali(Alevis). Hızır Paşa was angry with Pir Sultan and based on this decree casts Pir Sultan, his former spiritual master, into the prison at Sivas’s citadel Toprakkale. But Hızır Paşa remains uneasy and after a time he brings Pir Sultan before him again and says that if Pir Sultan will sing three songs without mentioning the Shah he will pardon him. In response, Pir Sultan does indeed sing three songs but entwines all three from beginning to end with many references to the Shah. The second deyiş from this video was one of these three songs which Pir Sultan sang at the scaffold with the rope around his neck: Hızır Paşa bizi berdar etmeden, (before Hızır Pasha hang us) Açılın kapılar Şah'a gidelim, (Gates of the citadel, open! lets march to Shah) Siyaset günleri gelip çatmadan, (before the days of politics/conflicts arrives) Açılın kapılar Şah'a gidelim.(Gates of the citadel, open! let march to Shah) Pir Sultan Abdal'ım güzel şah canım (my name is Pir Sultan Abdal, my beautiful Shah) Ağlamaktır benim demim devranım (my life is all about crying - starving for the love of the Creator) Arşta melek yerde çeşm-i efgânım (I am angel in the sky "esotoric world" and fountain of crying and mouning in this world) Açılın kapılar Şah'a gidelim.(Gates of the citadel, open! lets march to Shah) At the end of third deyiş, there was a moment of utter darkness and when it was over the gates of the citadel were open and Pir Sultan Abdal is not on the scaffold or even in that world anymore.
My last note about these two deyis are about the two names mentioned: Haydar and Shah both are special names for Alevis as they are nicknames for Imam Ali. He also nicknamed Hızır which is the thirdly commonly used name for him in Alevi literature.
This song is a failed comment. Because this folk song is played with only 1 instrument and 10 tones are taken with that binding. There is no electronic helper. Multi-sound with single binding that tells the original
