I can't understand why Hurrum fans always defend her wrong doings. She did WRONG to Gulnihal. And did not even apologize. I never liked Hurrem, especially after reading historic facts about her - she was thirsty for power and was cold-blooded, eliminating anybody who was on her way, plus using black magic and money to bribe people. And eventually, her favourite son Selim who was an alcoholic ruined the Empire.
Lol, everyone choose themselves when it's up to them. Be it Hurrem, Suleman , Mahidevran, Mustafa, Ibrahim and even Gulnihal. No one is above that. And everyone expects others to be loyal towards them than their own lives, why on Earth anyone lose their own lives because of loyalty? What an era to live! Everything feels like choices of gambling.
If Mahidevran had an ugly side hurrem too had the same.. mahidevran and hurrem were no different . Suleiman tolerated hurrem's rebel nature...but ignored mahidevran ..
They were very similar. But to say that Hürrem got away with everything and Mahidevran was punished isn't accurate. Mahi has literally gotten away with attempted murder before this.
I really lost a lot of respect for Hurrem here. To me this is the WORST thing she's done. She didn't do this to protect herself, her children, or Suleiman. It wasn't a kill or be killed situation. She poisoned her ONLY friend just because of a jealous rage. She KNEW this poor girl can't say no to the sultan. As for Gulnihal'w ambitions, that only came after the fact, when she had no choice but to see the silver lining of a bad situation. Everybody daydreams, but she had no intention of betraying Hurrem.
She had no intention of betraying her, but that didn’t stop her from doing it regardless. Saying that she did it even though she didn’t want to, in my opinion, is the same as saying she had no choice. Well there’s always a choice, but you’re all just too scared or too proud to make it. I’m not taking anyone’s side here, they’re both in the wrong, the way I see it.

Gulshah run away from Mahidevran when she treated her outrageously and asked her rival Hurrem for help and Hurrem took her as a servant. Gulnihal could do the same, after burning her face she could go to Mahidevran or Valide and ask for help. Slavery in harem was not as harsh as in ancient Rome (for example harem girl could demand liberation after 9 years of harem service, in other places it was not possible). When Gulnihal wounds were healed by Sumbul (her face was ok) she could ask Valide for marrying off or removing her to another palace to be far away from Hurrem. Valide probably would accept her request, only to make Hurrem angry. Why Gulnihal didn't do that? I can't imagine why she was so passive, people like her are always victims but they silently accept their fate.
