第４回菅原淳アレンジ・コレクション 〜 FUKパーカッション・ギャラリー 〜

バッハの「管弦楽組曲第3番」第2楽章のアリアの部分ですが、単独で「G線上のアリア」として、有名な名曲。弦楽アンサンブルだけでなく、いろんな楽器で演奏されていますが、今回はマリンバだけにより５重奏でお届けします。
山口大輔が演奏するバスマリンバは、水野三郎氏が作られた、世界に一つしかない貴重な楽器です。(1972年制作) 50年前は、まだ低い音域の出るマリンバがなく、アンサンブルをする時にどうしてもチェロ、コントラバスの音域の低音が欲しかったので、水野さんに強引にお願いし、作ってもらいました。音域も低い（C,ド）から上に３オクターブ（バッハ作曲「無伴奏チェロ組曲」が演奏できる音域）という無理な注文をして出来上がりました。
鍵盤もとても大きく、幅が10センチもありマレットは重さも必要なので、テニスボールぐらいの大きさの特製マレットで演奏します。
更にこの楽器はパイプの先に皮を張り、その皮の振動がブザーの役目になり音が更に増幅され、独特な響きを出します。水野さんはこの楽器を「ナビンバ」と名付けました。
本日はそのナビンバを使い、マリンバ・アンサンブルでのバッハの響きをお楽しみください。

《Program note》
This is the aria part of the second movement of Bach's "Orchestral Suite No. 3," but it is a famous masterpiece as "Aria on the G line" by itself. It has been performed not only by string ensembles but also by various instruments, and this time it will be performed by a quintet of marimbas only. The bass marimba played by Daisuke Yamaguchi is a unique and precious instrument made by Saburo Mizuno. (Made in 1972) Fifty years ago, there were no marimbas that could play in a lower register, and when I played in an ensemble, I really wanted a bass in the range of cellos and contrabasses, so I forcefully asked Mr. Mizuno to make one for me. I asked Mr. Mizuno to make a marimba for me, and he did so. I gave him an unreasonable order, starting from the lowest register (C, Do) and moving up three octaves (the range in which Bach's "Suite for Unaccompanied Cello" can be played), and the marimba was completed.
The keyboard is very large, with a width of 10 cm, and the mallets need to be heavy, so they are played with specially made mallets about the size of a tennis ball. In addition, the pipes are covered with leather, and the vibration of the leather acts as a buzzer, amplifying the sound and giving it a unique resonance. Mr. Mizuno named this instrument "nabimba". Today, please enjoy the sound of Bach with the marimba ensemble using the "nabimba".
