Theory time: I don't know if you could check the lyrics, they are pretty sexual with a lot of innuendos. So: 1. For the first 80% of the song, our girls dont lipsync during the video. And talk (in a satiric way) about how sexist men want their wife: good in the house, good in the bed, and with their mouth shut. 2. But for the last 20% of the MV, the girls start lip syncing, right at the part "I dont wanna wife". It is their way to criticise the role of the traditional wife and her sexist husband, and that they won't shut up about it. PD: gidle's fandom name is NEVERLAND, called nevies or nebobos in a friendly manner.
Agree with you about the English lyrics. That's why I love Soyeon as a writer/producer. She does what she wants to and doesn't let anyone tell her different. She knows that her English pronunciation is strange and the lyrics aren't grammatically correct and she likes it that way haha!
I love that that you immediately clocked that they're taking the piss LMAO I love that every comeback they bring something different!! Yuqi's rap was great (in general her lower voice is very beautiful) and I'm glad you pointed it out 👀 I listened to their highlight medley and I feel like Vision, one of the upcoming b-sides, would be right up your alley (may be wrong though lol). ALSO I TOTALLY GET WHAT YOU MEAN WITH OLDER KPOP ENGLISH LYRICS!! There's like 2 compilations of them that always makes me feel better on bad days haha. In general quirky kpop my beloved
You know what I thought was part of the lyrics? I thought they said, “want me to wipe that shit” when they were saying “want me to wife, but she is” but I think it’s totally intentional given the parody nature of the song!
@@douglastjchew it just makes more sense. Each girl says it. Soyeon won’t be your wife so it passes to Minnie, Minnie won’t be your wife,so it passes to Yuqi, Yuqi won’t be your wife it passes to Shuhua, Shuhua won’t b3 your wife it passes to Miyeon, Miyeon won5 be your wife : now all of them sing together about how none of them will be your wife… intermittently the raps are about all he sexual things they would do for you but, they aren’t your wife ( you aren’t married) and they aren’t your wife ( they don’t agree with the stereotypical “ wife” ) .
I'm pretty sure some of the English lyrics were meant to be misheard - what the lyrics say may not be too trustworthy. Some people are also saying that there is innuendo in it, so it's probably worth finding a Korean youtuber that does a breakdown. As a Neverland, I am always so nervous about each release because they are always trying new concepts. Soyeon is such a creative artist that we never know what to expect. I think this is probably why we are usually OK if people don't like a song - we know that worth the wow game of genres they hit and the boundaries they push, there will always be something that just doesn't resonate with everyone. Now, if you kept calling them "giddle" people might get nasty 😂
First half of G-idles career has some of my all time fav kpop songs, second half honestly has some of my least (and I dont mean bad, just REALLY not my thing)….but this absolutely slapped. So much fun
Listen, i shouldn't love this song. Not my type. Not something i would listen on my daily basis. But you know what? I LOVE IT. its so fun, quirky, weird. I really enjoy this song.
Glad you liked the song. Nice reactions. Thanks. Another bop by Soyeon. About the English, it's unfortunate how people think the standard Eng is correct and anything else is wrong. This is not towards you but for those who mock others. Eng is spoken differently in different countries. They don't need Eng to get by in their day to day lives. And when they do, it's their local version which is correct for them. As speakers of standard Eng, we should, with a bit of effort, be able to understand their Eng instead of trying to mock or correct them. Soyeon has shown from her K/DA and Heat songs and also some I-DLE songs that she can sing with what's considered standard Eng pronunciation and grammar. For her own songs she considers carefully her main target audience (mostly Koreans as this is Kpop after all), how easy/difficult it'll be for them to understand/sing, the mood/feel of the song, the melody, beat and many aspects before going for local or the standard Eng. No wonder her songs are so popular in Korea. They feel like lyrics even the English parts are written by someone Korean. Also it's nice to see her songs getting more popular all over the world. Feels good to know there are still many people who are not judgemental over non standard Eng. In an age where Kpop companies trying to pander to the US & other English speaking markets, it's refreshing to see that Soyeon produces and writes songs her own way.
I too love how quirky and unserious this is 🤭 the people complaining rn are talking to a wall cause what exactly is there not to like? just say you hate having fun n go 🤷🏻♀️
i think you can't survive in kpop as a fan, if you're not down for wrong english lyrics. 🤪😅 we are using words that sound good together, who cares about grammar and stuff. 🤟
