(G)I-DLE 'Hann (Alone)' REACTION | DG Reacts 

Due to my Queendom reactions I am slightly familiar with this song since Park Bom covered it but... HOLY HOLA! This might be one of my favorite reactions and I hope you guys like the slightly updated aesthetic :)

This song is so good. That is Minnie doing the whistle! Shuhua and her killing dance!!! Love the outfits in this mv too! Can't wait for you to see Hwaa if you didnt already. It's a follow up song to this one and it's my favorite!

I'm still recovering from their "My Bag" performance video, but yes, red-haired Soojin is definitely a problem.

My bias is Soojin too and still deeply longing for her. Hope she get back to industry again. :(

What makes this song even more interesting is that two of their other songs "Hann(alone in winter)" and "HWAA" are like a sequel to this one. When their album "I BURN" was released Soyeon recommend that we first listen to Hann then Hann(alone in winter) and finally HWAA( which is the title track for I burn) to get the full meaning of the songs. I think these 3 songs show how much of an incredible lyricist and producer Soyeon really is. ( I'd even say Hann(alone in winter) is their best song ever if you ask me!) Also I remember international fans talking about HWAA's lyrics and Korean fans were saying that some parts are not translatable (is that a word? lol) into English and you would be even more amazed if you knew the Korean lyrics. Another fun fact: the whistling in the intro and Shuhua's dance break was done by Minnie. Soyeon mentioned that apparently other people also tried to record it but Minnie's version was the best. she said Minnie is the best whistler in cube entertainment 😂😂 Thank you so much for the reaction I hope you can react to this trilogy in the future:)) Also Mieyon is coming back with her first solo mini album on April 27th!

That scene with Minnie and the film camera is one of my favorite scenes in any mv. The symbolism is so simple and yet so clever. People don't talk about it enough. Hann was always a favorite of mine, but I like it even more in the context of the triptych: Hann (Alone), Hann (Alone in winter), Hwaa. I think you would have a field day with Hwaa, by the way. That MV was like "oops all symbolism".

A bit of linguistic context for this trilogy.. The Korean name of this song is 한[一]. The first word is “han”, which has many meanings, some originally Korean, and some borrowed from Chinese. The two that are important here are “resentment” (from Chinese), and “one” (natively Korean). Not quite “alone”, but close enough. The line inside the brackets is not just a line: it is a Chinese character for “one”, resolving our ambiguity which of the many meanings of “han” is intended (even though the “han” that means “one” does not use Chinese characters). As you correctly interpreted, in this song they decide they are done with that person, and that they can totally be alone, they are fine without them. Unfortunately (well, fortunately for our ears), this not the end of the story. I will not spoil what the next two episodes are about, but knowing what the titles communicate to Koreans might be useful. The second song in the trilogy came two years later as a B-side, and is called 한[寒]. Still “han”, but the subtitle is hinting at another meaning: the Chinese character (pronounced “han” in Korean) means “cold” or “midwinter”. The third song that came out on the same album as the second Hann is called 화[火花]; i.e. “hwa” with two Chinese characters as the subtitle. The first one is… wait for it… “hwa”, and means “fire” (and also, metaphorically, “anger”). The second one is - you guessed it - “hwa”, and means “flower”. When you put them together like this, in Chinese (and Japanese) the combination of “fire flower” means “spark” (and as an extra fun fact, if you reverse the characters, “flower fire” means “fireworks”); just like “one”, Korean does not use this combination of Chinese characters, but if you take native words for “fire” and “flower”, you get 불꽃 “bulkkot”, meaning “flame” (and 불꽃놀이 “bulkkonnori”, literally “flame play”, means “fireworks”). So: resentment, one, cold, fire, flame, flower. If you decide to check out all three parts (and I can’t see a reason you wouldn’t :P ), keep these six words in mind. While I’m doing a linguistics essay, Yuqi is the standard transliteration (pinyin) of her Mandarin name, 雨琦 (a beautiful name, “rain jade”). More correctly, Yǔqí, adding the tone marks. Pinyin uses some letters very differently than English, and Q sounds kind of like “ch” in “chicken”. However, when she is not speaking Mandarin, she uses the Korean pronunciation of those two characters, 우기 “Ugi”, pronounced “oogy”, or “woogie”; there is no “y” or “k” sound. Since I am sure she is used by now that all the foreigners are mispronouncing it it is probably not a big deal, but just in case you wished to know.

G Idle got me into kpop. And Yuqi is my first bias of kpop. I love G Idle, and each comeback is different concept each time.

The first time I knew I-dle was in K/DA, I was so surprised by those two girls and reading the comments I reached this mv, and I saw Soojin....I was looking for Miyeon and I saw Soojin, I remember saying: wow how is this possible! The music was so interesting, written and produced by Soyeon, I decided to stay here learning from them. People who know me can't believe I like kpop music but to me I-dle, along with Dreamcatcher are beyond kpop

Yeooobun ! Greetings from Paboland ! Some things to know before going deep into (G)I-DLE Soyeon created Latata because CUBE Entertainment couldn't give them a suitable debut song, she was 19 yo at that time (almost 20) but it was just the starting of our journey ! She then created and (co)produced almost every single song, every song used as a main song (Title Track) are Soyeon's creation As for today, counting this comeback (I Never Die), there is only one song where Soyeon didn't took part in any kind of way and it's Polaroid created and (co)produced by Yuqi Soyeon is always involved at least in the lyrics because she can't rap a line/verse that she didn't herself wrote - Because she think rappers should write their stuff - And also because she want to express her feeling though her writting All of (G)I-DLE members have somehow unique voices, Soyeon wasn't ok with the other members voice coaches because they wanted them to be generic for the K-POP industry (if I understood correctly), but she thought that their atypical voices would be the group' strength. Nowaday we have a producer line, Soyeon (ofc), Minnie and then Yuqi Minnie wanted to produce song as well, so she come out with "Blow your mind", which is a b-side from "I Made" their 2nd Mini album, she created it alongside with Soyeon, she then created other songs (Moon,Dahlia etc...) Yuqi then join in the producer line too, with the co-created/produced (alongside Minnie) song "I'm the Trend" which is seen as Nevies anthem. Neverland being the fandom name of (G)I-DLE We now have 3 capable producer, that can fire in the future and we saw it threw the album "I never die" With this comeback Miyeon voiced her growing desire to write and produce songs too, so maybe next comeback we will have a Miyeon production too ! For now we will have one song wrote by herself and produce by Yuqi in her solo album ! Yuqi did her solo debut on 2021 with "Giant" and "Bonnie and Clyde", she also used to be in "Learn Way: Season 1" also known as "Learn Wave" during 2020 Her solo debut show how deep and attractful her voice is, I highly recommend listening to it Minnie started her actress career with "So not worth it" in 2021 aswell which is a Netflix serie She also had a lot of model shoot during this year Unfortunetly Soojin got caught in a bully scandal, being accused by an actress, which lead her to not being active from February 2021 to August 2021, then leaving (G)I-DLE but staying under Cube Entertainment from "August 2021" After bringing the police to the table and juridic case, it was difficult to prove whether the actress lied or not or whether Soojin was a bully or not since the event occured 10-12 years ago... Which lead Soojin leaving Cube Entertainment few weeks ago (I will not take position on this, I'm only LARGELY summarizing) "Hwaa" was released January 11 2021 and since that date we didn't had comeback for 1 year and 2 months (I don't count "Last dance" since it's a promotional song for "Universe") and every member took a break and focused more on solo stuff. Foreigner line (Minnie, Yuqi and Shuhua) going back in their country I will not come across everything they had done during 2021/early 2022 but it's mind blowing They are slaying hard on this comeback, charting well in South Korea, receiving lot's of praise, etc... and I hope everyone will show them support and love for all the harsh time they've been threw during 2021 (and since there debut) We need to focus on Miyeon solo debut now ! With "My", pls don't let her down, she brought us lot of happy moment, during our loooong hiatus, she deserve to be respected ! Fellow nevies just remember that opening fan war isn't necessarily, (G)I-DLE was always seen as black horse but in the end they always come up with good stuff We know what they are made of, and we just need to put our hands and mind to support them, our Queens ! You're pretty on point with your analysis for HANN! The black clothes with veil represents death, and the forgotten ruins in the middle of desert is the old them. Vibrant colors in the oasis, and the flower blooming represents growth and spring, giving life to a new them, and the scorpion is the toxic person who hurt them. BUT, this is a trilogy story/song made by SY. And she explained that in order to get the story, you should listen to HANN (Alone) >> HANN (Alone in Winter (b-side) >> HWAA. Like you said that scorpion hurt them and then they captured it in a jar. At first this was just like you've explained that the "person" was locked up and now a thing of the past but, with the release of HANN (Alone in Winter) and HWAA on their 4th album "I-BURN", that scorpion in a jar tells us that they only locked up the past but didn't let them go. You'll understand once you heard the trilogy. There's one line that contradicts everything in this song. Also, SY touching the scorpion and stinging her, like you pointed out, is a toxic relationship but they still did it. This reminds me of a story where it is in the scorpion's nature to sting, and yet SY still wanted to touch it, knowing that consequence. Their fire, burning, cold, ice, etc. lyrics directly connects to HWAA. The theme goes as well with their WHITE, COLORFUL/FLOWER, STRONG TONE (RED/BLACK) -This is a far reach by me, but here it said LION. In LION they said "Blue flower burning". And in HWAA, w/c is part or trilogy, they had a "blue flower burning". I really think that SOYEON is creating an IDLE-verse. FUN FACTS: -The scorpion is real! And Soyeon was indeed poking her finger at it. She (and the staff) were so scared since the scorpion was aggressive and trying to sting Soyeon. -This trilogy was actually inspired by Shuhua. YES. Soyeon explained that SHU was so damn gorgeous that she resembles a protagonist of a story, so 3 songs were created. SY also said that SHU is indeed "PURE BEAUTY". (and yet haters says SY hated SHU) -RED HAIR SOOJIN IS ICONIC! -SOYEON LICKING THINGS IS ICONIC! -MINNIE SHOOTING HER MEMORIES IS ICONIC! ...
