Keep in mind that Soyeon will often switch a noun into a verb. So, at the end when they say, "I don't wanna wife, wife, wife, wife," she's using 'wife' as a verb representing all actions that are force-fed to women regarding their role in a relationship.

It is a slam against being a stereotypical Wife cook, clean, have babies etc. They can be whoever they want to be. They can be gay, straight whatever. Society shouldn’t dictate who u are.

Shuhua once said in vlive (maybe a year ago) that " I'm not a housewife, I don't qualified to be one. Also I don't want to be one, OK? Being a housewife is noble job, it's just not for me though. " I guess Soyeon take it serious 👀

also has in the korean part a lot of "innuendos" so it was controversial for koreans where i think Soyeon want them the most to catch those parts, we lost a lot of meaning during the translation but it was crazy on twitter lmao, thank you RJ the snippet for this album sound soo good

I really like the fact that the girls are silent in the video during the description of the "perfect wife", but at the end all together say "i don't wanna wife'. so the song is about the usual stereotypes of being a wife and girls kind of refuse to accept them.

the meaning is real behind it like i saw someone on tt saying this ; i cook cream soup its so coco loco = i cook cream soup its so good want me your wife but she is mh mh mh = you want me as your wife but she is (another woman is already their wife) mh mh mh (no no no) wife, i make you feel so high, i make you feel like lie (does it need a translation?) but i dont wanna wife wife wife (i dont wanna be your wife/do the suppose wife thing = cook cream soup,.....) also this mv represent how (sexist or most korean) men see women (all the same=same outfit and wig) and their opinion about them ( they cook cream soup, no opinion = they dont rlly lip sync in the mv, pleasure them (if u look at the english lyrics) ,....) so yeah its not a "silly song without meaning like 2GEN" , they ate 💋

in soyeon english 'i dont wanna wife' means 'i dont want to be a wife'. there are no such things as nouns, verbs or grammar in kpop english. 😅🤟 i love those white wigs. especially on miyeon. it's such a look. 🫠🤍

Well actually she did this in purpose bc she wrote wife like it’s a verb and it represents all the things a wife does in the view of men’s eyes (for example cleaning and cooking)

The lyrics are a criticism of Korea and its marriage models. In the clip, they are all wearing the same clothes and the same wig, showing that they are not seen as individual people, but rather as "wives". Throughout the lyrics, they talk about cleaning, cooking and satisfying sexual desires, in addition to being cheated on, which is why in the end they don't want to be wives.

You should watch the video this channel called *WOO* made, it’s basically a channel that breaks down every lyrics of g-idle and they made one of *WIFE* it’ll make so much more sense than looking at the lyrics yourself lol

personally, i dont really like the song sound-wise, but soyeon's genius never fails to amaze me. here's some "theories" i've collected on the meaning: - obviously the song is criticising traditional women roles (cooking, cleaning etc.) - they're all dressed the same, each of them is not their own person, but just a wife - they are not lip syncing in the video, just dancing, because society tells us women shouldn't be heard, just watched - they're playing the "ridiculous song" card again lol, just take a look at the switch-up in the lyrics between the chorus and the verses (from childish and simple to explicit) (fun fact: the song just got banned by kbs for "sexually provocative lyrics" lmao)

I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY I LOVE IT SO MUCH BUT I DOOOOOOO. It's not a "good" song... lol... but there is somethinggggg about it! It's chaos and ridiculousness and I HAVE NOT been able to get it out of my head lmao. I have watched the video like 30 times.

you should check out their solos! soyeon has "beam beam" (you already reacted to "is this bad b***** number"), miyeon has "drive" (and i recommend "te amo" by her too), yuqi has "bonnie & clyde" and "giant", minnie has a couple solo projects, her most recent is "expectations" i believe. shuhua doesn't have any solo projects unfortunately, and you already reacted to soojin's!

I like the song a lot but apparently just doesnt translate well into english without losing all the double meanings in korean so im bummed out i dont speak korean now 😢
