Derek's Rise of Skywalker credit was because he wrote the Duel of the Fates version of Episode IX.

5:40-6:12 Well John, you can’t totally blame Paramount for not bringing back Travis Knight. Back then, Travis Knight already planned to go back to Laika because he’s the current CEO over there so he was probably too busy to come back. That was a decision totally out of Paramount’s control. Sure, they should have waited for his return but then again, who knows when he would have been freed to make a Bumblebee 2.

To be honest, GI Goe doesn't need current relevance to be future hits. For example, the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, the list goes on.

To be fair, he has story credit for Rise of Skywalker because Colin Trevorrow was originally supposed to direct episode IX but ultimately dropped out but Lucasfilm kept some elements from the original story he wrote to what we got in the final product

By the way, there are in fact Deck Building games for both Transformers and GI JOE. Granted, that's tabletop, and you're talking about video games, but my understanding is that the GI JOE Deck Building Game is actually more popular than the Transformers one (despite the fact that I only have and care about the Transformers DBG). Of course, the demographic which plays these games is very small, so it's not like we'll have any real impact on the movie going demographic for this crossover movie, but technically, to answer your question, there is in fact a community for it. It's a very small one, but I do know it's there.

And us tabletop dice rolling players who play the Transformers and Gi Joe RPGs which can be played together (alongside Power Rangers RPG) 🙌🏻 Renegade have done a great job with the IPs by Hasbro and now we have Image Comics with their new connective universe between TF and Gi Joe (shoutout to the Energon Universe) As someone who never grew up with Gi Joe all the above has made me recently interested into the franchise and now has me excited to see them as the human/military characters in Transformers movies :)

Its for me! 🙋🏼‍♂️ Life long Beast Wars fan and G1 Transformer and when I was a kid I had a collection of Duke Action Figures from GI Joe even thoe Storm Shadow was my favorite lol. I've been stoked for this since Rise of the Beast. 🎉

I could see Channing Tatum and Marlon Wayans running around alongside Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson in the desert which fits as both Rise of Cobra and Revenge of the Fallen are taking place there. BUT the problem is of course, Paramount abandoned both continuities, in case of G.I.Joe they already got rid of half the cast in the second movie. This idea COULD HAVE WORKED and make some money. But only if it was released in maybe 2015 / 2016. Before The Last Knight from 2017 put an end to that Transformers continuity as well.

I’m a big Joe fan. What it really needs is an animated series or even a live action series for character development. There are so many great characters in the franchise.

when i watched rise of the beasts i was like why does the dudes armor " the transformer" looks so familiar the way he moves and everything and well lol it was the early concept for the gi joes armor in the first movie lol so soon as the post credit hit i was like oohhh sh it ok lol

Here’s the thing, I’d be more excited for this crossover if I had a full picture of how good both of these franchises currently are, because we’ve seen from Bumblebee and Rise Of The Beasts that the current Transformers movies are in a good place but as of now we haven’t seen anything that G.I Joe has to offer, because I’m pretty certain they’re not following either of those old live action movies, and so when it comes to the G.I Joe side we’re gonna be totally blind to what they’re gonna give us, it’s like if they made Godzilla Vs Kong without ever making Kong: Skull Island first, and so I’m kinda unsure about this project because I just don’t have any knowledge about what the G.I Joe stuff is gonna be like
