So many bands were influenced by these guys and they were relatively unknown for a long ass time. The perfect mix of punk, hc, rock, heavy metal. Not easy to do the right way. And those vocals are something else!
Someone should use the meme with all the hands together in the middle labeled “GISM lovers” and label the hands: crusties, metal heads, stoners, glam rockers, street punx, black metal fans, etc. Everyone can agree on GISM.
On a bed of German money, probably. Can't be showing those swazis uncovered over there, it's not legal to sell depictions of Nazi symbols unless in a historical context.
The swastika on the cover was obviously satirical. Censoring it out is ceding the ground that there are some forms of satire and social commentary you aren't allowed to make. It's hard to think of something less authentic and less fitting for GISM's legacy than letting RELAPSE of all labels churn out a censored reissue.

They played roadburn a little bit back too. I'm sure he agreed either by money or because like most guys who had material untouched by labels for years just wanted people to have it as supposed to having to pay tons of money for it. Sakevi's clothing brand also sells gism merch and it included the relapse shirts
I remember the first time I heard this about 20 years ago year 2000 . I had a long night of partying banging sluts and doing cocaine. I woke up to endless blockades coming from a living room where there was a bunch of crust punks waking up on the floor smoking weed at like 9 am on a Sunday. I was enlightened ever since, the dude introduced me to gism and deathside on some cassettes. It was nice

Gism is so much better than Amebix tho. Also Amebix should have changed their name to Stone Sour for that last album cus it was some straight up bullshit.
@@peterframtid5168Debatable (Amebix and G.I.S.M. are both pretty special in terms of history and influence) and also kinda beside the point. I also don't think Relapse had anything to do with Sonic Mass.
Is it just me or does this mix sound really off. I can't put my finger on it but all the space in the original master seems absent, like it's been shoved inside a cardboard box. Maybe it's just me i dunno.
@@feathersmcgraw4090 he'd have to. The album had no re-release for years. I was actually thinking about picking up a later vinyl pressing of this before relapse announced this. That's how hard it was to find because it remained untouched by any labels
