Thank you very much for the video on this guitar I found it very enlightening it's nice to have somebody take the time to explain exactly how everything works on this guitar instead of just playing a bunch of loud music you articulate your points very well I was thinking of getting a Mexican Strat but after watching this video and doing some research I think I'm going to go with this guitar thank you
Hi Anthony, great to hear that you found this video useful, I agree with you that the G&L guitar is a better guitar than the Fender MIM Strat, I even prefer the G&L to the American Standard Strat, Thanks for watching and be sure to check out guitaranimal.com lots of good stuff there too. :)
Great guitar! I got the first run from years back. Better than standard MIM Strats. Bright USA pickups. Don't let the fact that they are made in Indonesia sway you. These are high quality guitars that seem to hold their value.
Thanks for the video, I really enjoyed it. Just curious if you know if the G&L S-500 medium c neck profile thickness depth at the 1st thru 12th fret is any thinner than the Fender modern c neck profile. I have a 2002 Fender Highway 1 Strat with modern c neck profile and it has always been a little thick for my small hands and short fingers and am looking for another strat style guitar with a thinner neck depth profile. My '88 MIK Strat is the thinnest neck depth Strat I have ever played and that neck is to die for. Thanks again.
I just felt both guitars here in the shop and they are very very similar.I did not have a 2002 to compare it too. These felt thinner than my '60 road worn neck. Hope this helps thanks for watching :)
@@GuitarAnimal Thank you yes that helps. I really am leaning towards the G&L as I understand their trem system may have the edge over the Fender and I use a whammy a lot. Thanks again.
Thanks a lot for your review. However I just received mine yesterday and was extremely disappointed by the assembly. The neck was very poorly assembled, with space between neck and body on the upper side (low E), and 2.5 mm of the pocket's wood visible on the other side (when looking from front, you can see the bottom of the pocket). Impossible to fix it by moving the neck, since it would increase by 2.5mm the space in the other side and would make the low E string move almost beyond the side if the fretboard. And when looking at the back of the body it appears that it's shape is really wrong: the chrome plate is not parallel to the edges of the body ! Also, the tuners looked like 10 years old! A lot of small scratches on them. Finally, long dark stripes on the neck, maybe wood veins but really bad looking. Maybe tool marks... I am a big fan of the Asat Tribute that I own since 1 year, but it seems that there are some quality/consistency issues. I got a refund and will chase another S-500 but won't purchase without testing!
Very Sorry to hear of the condition of your new guitar. Sounds like G&L may be having some issues with quality control of late. Was this a 2019 or 2020 model? I will be leaving this information here for others to see so they can be aware. I teach at a local shop that sells many G&L tribute guitars and have never seen on in such bad shape. Thanks for sharing
@@GuitarAnimal Guitar Animal Thank you for your reply! The serial number started with "1903". I really love the brand and wish it was an exception. Soundwise this guitar was really fantastic, I'm frustrated 😀
you forgot clean with the pull up switch down (standard switch) everything sounds the same with overdrive, want to hear the tone not overdriven compressed tone.
Shhh.don't let anyone know but yes it is a Green Screen lol. My director knows all the secrets to this mojo. head over to guitaranimal.com an use the contact us link to see what she can tell you. Thanks for watching :)
