Elizabeth Munzón (b.1990) is an American oil painter of Mexican descent. Her paintings explore the parallels between Mexican prehispanic mythologies, folklore, and the people and moments in her life. Munzón was born in the San Fernando Valley and raised in Sylmar, a suburb of Los Angeles, then moved to Long Beach, CA, to pursue an art education. In 2017, She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) with an emphasis in Figurative Painting and Drawing and a minor in Marketing from California State University, Long Beach. The same year, Munzón founded a small grassroots art space that doubled as her art studio as a means to stay connected to the local art community. The space was a perfect incubator for exhibition programming and trial-and-error projects. As she outgrew the space, Munzón decided to move to a larger location with refined programming under the name Munzón Gallery, a contemporary art gallery located in Cambodia Town, Long Beach, CA, with a particular focus on painting and printmaking. The gallery represents emerging and mid-career artists who create engaging and inclusive work for our time. She currently lives and works in Long Beach, CA.
