I'm the same but it's so versatile I had to buy it. It's grown up too unlike the rest of their range. Hopefully this will encourage them to expand their target market beyond builders and military style roles.
good morning from Tokyo. thank you for the review. after I watched this I bought the same these watches in different color (black and yellow) and I love both of them. I'm planning to buy all black as well when it is in stock. all black is so popular in Japan as well that difficult to get them. However, it's not a limited edition some day it will be in store. I will wait till then.
Great review. You touched on a variety of points. I especially like the time you put in to compare this watch with the 5610. I do wish the markers had lume, even just a dot of lume to identify the hours. Lack of positive display on the digital display would be a welcome change.
Dammit Oleg, I was just able to divert my attention from watches to knives for a second. But now I need a GA-2100 because of you. Great review, as always, man!
I own this one and wear it on a daily bases. I work professionally with water, not diver. I thought a proper diver would may be overkill, but this one I wear because of the good markers, they come in real handy when working in water. And it looks good even at a meeting:) The only slight problem I could think of; am I wearing at proper tool watch or am I wearing a future collectors item and therfore really should keep it out of harms way? Great rewiev.
Nice review. Just subscribed. Didn't discover your channel until recently! Nice watch. I was between getting this and a GG-1000, totally different watch, but great for trekking and mountaineering. Went for the Mudmaster instead! I am thinking of getting the green stainless Casioak. Did you get to review the steel version yet?
@@stevefox8605 i'm starting to see the GW5000 family looks a bit like the Nautilus. Maybe that's why watch enthusiasts seems to like these 2 gshocks more than the others
Casio have announced some metal watches in the Edifice line with a similar design and more functionality, to be released soon. Eg. ECB-10D-2AEF (steel with blue dial) is Y24,000 (about $235).
I am considering doing my own full metal conversion, the kit with bezel & bracelet is $90 on top of the price of the watch. For less than $200 I don't think I can stop myself tbh.
Another great review Oleg. I picked up one of these for £89.99 before Christmas and love it. You're right it's a G-Shock that looks and feels like a "proper" watch. In terms of weaknesses I think the light is adequate, but no lume on the indices is disappointing. I'll see you at the front of the queue when the steel version is released!
@@stelloyd4266 No, quite happy with the Casioak. I asked Google Assistant to set a reminder, used one expletive, it replied 'that is not appropriate'.! Old school with a smartphone in my pocket works best 👌
I got this at a steal during The Hudson's Bay Bay Days. Paid 99 after taxes in CAD. And this was during the first month of release when it was really hyped!
Air Miles (.ca) has the black on black listed as a merch reward. 1540 points to grab one and mine should arrive in a few weeks. I know it's been a while since the hype and most probably have their own by now but I was pleasantly surprised when I saw it come up while looking for a blender...lol. Blend later, watch now. Great vid BTW. Cheers
I've ordered the GA-2100 1AJF (white indices, white hands) primarily for the smaller dimensions replacing my 7 year old G-100-2BM 5158, 47mm with 51mm lug to lug and 15mm thick. I also like the white indices and white hands for clarity and the "Casioak" appearance is a nice look, especially for a G-Shock, bit of an upscale "beater." And I agree, lum on the indices would have been a bonus. Thanks for your review.
I have one of these too and love it. There are metal cases and bracelets available for it on AliExpress, even with the screws in the bezel like the AP Royal Oak (only stainless steel, they told me black will be available by the end of March). The composite bracelet of the GW-B5600BC-1BER is a good repacement for the standard strap, I have swapped mine over and it looks and feels great.
I have that watch (GA-2110SU-3A) and I love it. However because my eyes are getting worse for close the LCD part is very hard to read so for me that part is not very useful. If Casio will ever make a full metal version of it I'll certainly consider buying one (depending on the price).
Hey Oleg. I meant to ask you if your contacts amoung Chinese watch suppliers have hinted if watch manufacturing and-or deliveries have taken a hit. Just curious since several of us wanted to place orders.
I was lucky enough to get this very model when they briefly became available ( sold out the same day) at one of the big jewellery stores here in Glasgow , had a 10% email code so I got the watch for £90/$117/$150can. It really is a great looking watch , so light and nice to wear , it's probably the first watch I've owned that I could sell at a premium , but , I think it's a keeper. As you say the stealth version is nice but quite illegible. Watch geek has an excellent how-to video about this watch , including how to change the light setting from 1 to 3 seconds which I found a lot better.
A very good review, I was tempted back in September, when they had a good discount. I should have pulled the trigger! With atomic and solar movement this would have been the perfect G Shock.
I paid $130CAD from G-shock Canada. I bought the red one because that's all they had left. I love mine and have no complaints for the price. I don't own luxury watches though.
Cracking review brother....when I first saw this model last year I didn't like it, no idea why it just didn't appeal....however having seen them in various reviews and in person I'm pleased to have been wrong....they are well worth the money....the case shape seems like a breath of fresh air, quick release springs are always welcome and I bet it would look the dogs on a NATO....the lume is underwhelming to say the least, perhaps they'll improve that in future models....I agree that it would be amazing in SS but I really do struggle with the value equation of metal G's....but would love to see a review of one when they come out....⌚🏴⌚🏴
I checked out the aliexpress metal case. It looks good but, like most royal oak reps, the metal brushing finish is usually uneven. Gotta get the real royal oak
I love this watch so much I have bought 3 (1) Black /white paid $155, (2) Camo $110, and (3) Green $105. The black/ white I got first and probably when they were there hottest, plus it came from Japan.
Sir, I will be thankful to you if you arrange this on reasonable price, here in India it is not available, in case available they are charging premium..
Its the closest to a royal oak ill ever get. When I have some more money I'll be getting this really like it. I'll stick to my timex for nighttime stuff as indiglow is awesome day time though this looks great. A bit lacking in functions, but everything you need. Appreciate the review 👊🏼
The main reason I forgot about this watch is due to the rough finishing: I do not care if it is cheap but it should not have rough finishing. Economical materials need not have poor finishing. Very poor work form Casio and some one needs to roast them for it. I will leave it on the forums as it killed my appetite for this watch
With all the respect as you say i think that what you pay for this watch is too much, I bought the black with grey indexes last week for 101 USD from a official dealer, and actually you can buy it from the oficial page of G-Sock for 119,59 USD. In this cases when the people go crazy the best that you can do is wait, and 50% more of the real price on a G-Shock, in mi opinion is a lot. But as I said I respect all the decisions I just share mi opinion. Nice and beautiful watch!!
I got one of these for £80 , used my wife unidays discount 20% off (mature student) also when I goto the Macdonald's drive through I ask for my student cheeseburger, they never ask for ID, in your face Macdonald's, the watch is awesome by the way.
