Got one yesterday, it’s perfect for working onsite and the display is super easy to read at a glance. I’m not really bothered about all the other functions. I like it.
Just ordered one and I'm so excited! As a child, G-Shock where the watches every cool kid needed to have. I've used smartwaches for a long time now and although I really apreciate the functions, I hate having to recharge my watch every two days... This watch looks fantastic and has a great display and brings back memorys of my childhood! Thanks for the awesome review!
It's my favourite G-shock! Frist of all I love the color (I also bought the blue one) and the display, it really sets it apart and offer something different than any other G-shock that I own. I don't really use the step tracker or activity stuff, but the notifications are super handy. I work in an enviroment where I can't use my phone that much, and to be able to see notifications on my watch is a super handy way to know why my phone is vibrating in my pocket. I do wish that Casio would do a Tough Solar version of this watch, because all the features that I use tends to drain the battery. Other than that, I'm super happy! All the usual G-shock features that I love combined with a great look and added functionality. A great watch!
Hi guys. I am asking for your help. Please can anyone tell me whether the watch displays the caller id together with the phone call notification? And is the Bluetooth range long enough to walk around the house without the phone and still get the notifications? Another question: is there a way to set up a scheluled DND mode or something like that for the night? If so, this is the perfect watch for me. I was unable to find these informations online. Your help is greatly appreciated since this watch is quite expensive in my country - well at least for me - just to buy and try.
I just bought the blue one only for the display and alarm clock with vibration option 😎 Oh, forgot to mention that it generally looks simply amazing 😱😁 BTW, as soon as it's delivered I'm going to switch Bluetooth and notifications off as I don't need them at all and would buy it even if it didn't have any of the smartwatch functionalities.
Hey how has this watch been for you? I also don't need the Bluetooth etc, but really wanted a step tracker watch with vibration alarm. Was hoping it would last quite a while with occasional vibration alarm and occasional step tracking.
These MIP watches have the ability to be positive or negative display. Maybe even auto display so under low light, it'll switch to a positive screen for easier viewing before a backlight is needed. Hopefully there will someday be a module upgrade like the G-shock squares still get new modules every few years. Solar too is sorely needed. Great review. I just want it as a watch and alarm so I'm getting one and never even linking it to my phone. I just ordered the new light gray/tan looking color. Great review. Just subscribed.
I actually like the way the notifications work, the vibration and quick banner describing who and where it is from let’s me know if it is something I should stop what I’m doing to dig out my phone to respond to. The fact it is awkward to retrieve messages on the watch makes no difference as I’m not likely to read an email on my watch anyway

Cool watch. I love the MIP display. If G-Shock would come up with another G-Shock MIP display without the workout features, notification features, I would be sold, especially if it had better battery. My two G-shocks will wait until the next one comes out!
Lovely review. I saw the same blue watch at Casio store today. I had gone to check out and probably buy a triple sensor ProTrek or G-Shock for my upcoming travels. But I kept my purchase on hold when I saw this one. Beautiful watch with a great color. So I noted down the model number and got down to doing some research, and your video popped up. Your review is crisp, to the point and very informative. Thanks 👍
I'm tied between this and the 5610 mainly because the screen is so much better on this 200 than the regular LCD ones. However the 5610 has solar and multi band which is quite appealing. The phone link features I won't care for other than time adjustment. Overall really tied on this...
I have the 5610 and I'm pretty happy with it. I don't need the fancy schmancy fitness features, either, as I don't ever wear the watch at the gym anyways. However, between the two, I like the look of the 200 more.
@@adam.dzwoniarek72 I wish the 5610 had both the nice screen and the 200’s ability to vibrate… vibration makes the alarm and timer functions more useful, imho.
i would have considered this watch if it had solar charging as well. hopefully in the new models have it. Instead i am going to take my chances with the gbd2000, great review!
The watch seems cool and practical, particularly for monitoring your steps. As for the smartwatch features, I can do without them since they tend to be quite bothersome, which is a major reason why I seldom wear a smartwatch.
Good review. This helped me make my decision. I was ready to purchase this, because I thought it’s just a watch with a cool display. Because of the stripped down workout functionality, I decided to go with Instinct 2X.
I really love the display and look of this watch but it just has too much stuff I wouldn’t use. Casio should make this display with the basic f91w features, maybe throw in a countdown timer, maybe a smidge smaller and a fun colour range under $100. Till then I’ll stick to my skmei 1988 for a work beater. Tough as nails.
Fantastic review, thank you, I bought mine purely for its great display and good looks. ( I got the blue one also ) Thanks for the heads up re the 6 hour thing with the auto light, I did wonder why that stopped working. Great G-Shock and it only cost me $145 AUD.
I’ve been using smart watches for years for working out but man I hate charging it everyday. I love how similar it is. It has almost everything I need in a watch. I would love something like this but with a heartrate monitor
Thanks for this review. Best I have seen so far! That 6hrs auto light is a deal breaker for me. I do a lot of work in artificial light (underground mining), and the auto light on my 5610 is a lifesaver!
@gaius_marius I can see that, just feel they missed the mark on making a good watch a great watch by making it solar, especially being that it uses a lot of battery
Yeah the 60 minutes timer sucks. The watch in outstanding in many ways but at the same time has some significant design flaws. Thanks a lot for the great review.
I’m blown away . . . You telling me the guy who converted me to vaping has a product review channel with something I’m looking to purchase 🤯 I’m so used to your review style for the vape stuff this was PERFECT
Very good review on this watch. I like the display. But when I was about to get this model, I saw a good deal on the GBX-100KI 1ER. It was the last one in stock, and it was cheaper than this model. The functions are the same, I think the GBX-100KI have some extra functions, and a metal bezel. The strap is better on the GBX-100KI. But this gbd-200 is very nice, I like the blue color. Maybe in the future I get one. 👍👍
I was the exact opposite! Tried on the GBX100 and I liked it but didn’t love it, and then found a flash sale at Macys on the GBD200 and fell in love. I use the features on this a lot. Good find on your GBX it’s an awesome watch!
@@NoelKunz It is not a big difference between the two, maybe the GBX-100 is bigger with the metal bezel,, but the strap is much softer and comfortable. It is very similar to my old G-7800 with this metal bezel, and negative display. I have the G-7800 from 2007 and still working fine, with the original strap. The GBD-200 is also very good design, anf and I like the colors, especially the blue and yellow. But next on my list is the new casioak with Bluetooth and solar power.
Nice review, Would like to wait a solar poowered version without HR sensor. Best with better notification improvement, a quick access to show the details.
@Sneaky Pete's Product Reviews I've always heard local.. Ahem, gemstone enthusiasts.. praising My Weigh Triton-series scales, they're somewhat regarded as status symbols here and they're even mentioned in a couple of rap lyrics! I'd love to know if they're actually better than your cheap, average hardware store/supermarket scales! I'm mixing e-juice with a really cheap scale and it seems far from consistent, thought of upgrading but there's almost no reviews whatsoever about these scales!
For notifications, you can at least limit what apps send notifications from the phone to the watch (via the Move app), if you didn't want to get everything your phone receives, maybe just two or three apps (just email & text messages, etc.).
I just want to count my daily steps, without connecting to a smartphone. No need something else. Just time and steps meter. Only with the watch, no connection to something else. Is it possible with this watch? Should i buy it?
Looks awesome. Love the blue colour. The display is so clear. Shame it's not solar. The notications and sports tracking seems pretty useless. The big button for the light is nice.
Great video and new sub here - I have the white (well, cream color really) one and use it to track my walks. Kind of a stormtrooper vibe. It is great. Thinking of adding the lime green or even blue.
Hi man! Is the led light uniform or the left side looks a little bit brighter? That happens to my watch and I have seen the same situation in many other videos.
Pros , it looks great Cons The function on this is very gimmick driven, had they made it solar or rechargeable it would be more appealing i guess thats where the dwh5600 came into play which is also more of a gimmick watch than a true fitness tracker but for now nice additions to an ever growing collection
The display is beautiful. If they make one with MIP display without the "smart" features, I'd get one in a heartbeat. I'd probably still get one now that it's been out for a while, and there are some pretty decent deals.
Wish you could control music playback on your phone trough the watch. Would very useful when running or working behind machinery with gloves and full gear.
If this watch had a way to set it so that first watch face with the nice big time display with the seconds had the steps at the top and the date at the bottom, I would be buying this watch. Unfortunately, they just don't give you the option to have all of these displayed at the same time.
I've got an old Bluetooth Gshock (bt 4.0, a gbx6900) from like 2012. The BT still works, notifications have always been useless. I just use the BT to sync the time and set basic settings (adjust my alarms, timer, etc) then immediately cut it back off. If you just use thr BT link to sync time and set up the watch then turn it off it makes a lot of sense. Dunno of you can just easily turn the bt on and off on this one like you could on old ones. I think I just wanna get this to try out a MIP display. Seems so cool. I wonder if anyone will make a 3rd party phone app to sync these too, like BlueWatcher was.
Fantastic job covering it's features. Being a cyclist, do you think it's pace and distance functionality would be a good thing to track my cycle rides?
thanks for watching! I don't think it would work for cycling unfortunately, but at the end of the day it just depends on how critical accuracy is to you
Casio... please add solar and compass and be ready for metric tons off money. I would even trade the vibration and notifications for solar and compass. That would be the ultimate Pro Trek - G-Shock lovechild. I would pay 500€. Maybe even 600€.
Eh, I just don’t like this thing. It’s moving too much into smart watch territory. There’s something great about a self governing, solar G-Shock that’s completely independent of a smart phone. This definitely has a beautiful display, but I’m also like you in terms of the size…it’s a little too big. I wear the negative 5610. Too bad we couldn’t get this display on mine. But oh well, not a deal breaker for me. Good review! You explained everything really good!
How do you get to the screen seen at minute 2:14? I just received the watch, and I already use it well, but I'm curious how to get to the screen that says "adjusted"
Awesome review☺️ by the way will the step tracker work without connecting the watch to the app? Thank you in advance and more power to your channel. New sub here☺️
G-Shocks that have vibration also have the limited 6-hour timer for the Autolite probably because the vibrations drain power fast. My GD~350 IS that way I believe
Maybe someone can help me with regards to a repeating countdown timer. I need this for my interval training....I would like the watch to give me a short audio or vibrate alarm every 30secs. Which cheapish casio will do this? ps I have a gshock 5600 with a repeating timer but the alarm sound is too long and annoying for such a short interval.
this has repeating countdown timers yes, I would read that section in the manual and it’ll describe if the timer works in the way you are hoping so you can confirm for sure
They put an aweful lot of work into making a legible negative display when some of the functions clearly show that it should just be a positive display by default
