This is the best way to modernize the line as quickly as possible. Give the workers uninterrupted access to the tracks to get this done. People might not like it but there’s no gain without some pain.
@@TrainMaster5097 The MBTA in Boston did a full 30 day shutdown of it’s orange line (second busiest line in the city) to carry out urgent repairs and they were able to get done FIVE YEARS worth of repairs by doing a full 30 day shutdown of the line. They will now be closing part of their red line for 24 days. It’s a pain to get around for the riders during that time but it’s the best way to get repairs done.
Although I don't live near the G line, and it would be inconvinient for many people this Summer, this is honestly a way better option than to have weekend suspension for 2 years. Great job MTA!
@@Gueli844 I haven’t taken the G line in five years but if the regular riders want the benefits of a high performing line, this is the best way to bring it to them as quickly as possible. Giving the construction crews uninterrupted access to the tracks is going to get this done much faster rather than doing only weekend shutdowns that drag on for years and years.
@@Gueli844 The MTA expects the G line CBTC project to be completed by 2027. I don’t know if why they didn’t do a longer shutdown to get it all done in one fell swoop. I don’t think six weeks is long enough to install the system from one end of the line to the other.
It’s much better to do a full shutdown for weeks at a time rather than only doing weekend shutdowns. It’s the fastest way to get these projects done and it also saves a lot of money. There’s no gain without some pain.
That's not going to happen, and here's why: 1) Not enough train crews or ridership. 2) The G interlines with the F, which receives priority since it's much busier.
Yes I Agree 👍 after She Delayed Congestion Pricing a few weeks ago definitely I'm still very Upset by that Reckless move by Governor Hochul delaying Major Subway Improvements like New Train Cars, More Signal Modernization for CBTC On other lines and brand New Evaluators and many more
@mrlegend4456railfanning The Governor made the right decision. Tell the MTA to spend their money more responsibly and stop wasting the $20 billion they already get.
@MTA @Hugo If you really want to improve the G train? Add more cars, from 4-5 cars to 8 cars on the G, extend the G to Forrest Hills or at least Queens Plaza. Repair, renovate and reopen the Bergen St. station lower level for the F train to use as an express (skipping 4 stops, from Bergen to 7th Ave) and the G as a local on the upper level. That way the F & G are not sharing the same trackway, cutting down commute time on the F and cutting the wait time between G trains. #MTA #GTrains #ImprovetheG
2014 the Greenpoint Tubes were closed down for a month as Fix & Fortify repaired the Hurricane Sandy damage in the tubes. 2024 the G line gets an entire signal repairing overhaul and divides into three phases of projects.
The R211 is expected to expand the fleet. Once that’s done, G trains could become full-length. As for sending G trains to Forest Hills, not all of them have to go there. Instead, some of them can short-turn at 21st St using the pocket track which currently acts as a crossover for Court Sq (one stop north) which currently acts as the terminus. Also, local trains on the QBL don’t have to terminate at Forest Hills. One local service can go to Jamaica Center (due to the branch splitting after Briarwood which is a local station) and the others can go to 179th St. As for the express services, maybe one can go to 179th St and the other can short-turn at Forest Hills.
This is the best way to modernize the line as quickly as possible. Give the workers uninterrupted access to the tracks to get this done. People might not like it but there’s no gain without some pain...
I hope the MTA also cleans the stations inside the G Line. They have a lot of time to do so and it will make the G train a much more pleasant train to ride. Oh and as well making it 8-10 cars!
I'd like to ask the M & F train czar's where those trains are at, because they never seem to run. And if they do manage to show up it's every hour on the hour.
@@i_am_a_toast_of_french Use 179th Street for what? I'm almost completely sure that riders east of 71st Avenue don't want any QBL local at their stations Improve Jamaica Center's switches? How do we do that?
@@CLBT7437 179th street has so much more capacity as a terminal and jamaica center switches should be closer to the platform so more qbl express can go through, another set of switches should be past the platform to allow the tail tracks to be used better for storage, also 71 st doesn't need fumigation if the train is going back into service in 2 minutes e trains can go to jamaica ctr with 15 tph and f/m/r trains can go to 179 st with 30 tph (f express, m/r local on hillside)
@@i_am_a_toast_of_french You didn't pay attention to what I said, did you? Riders east of 71st Avenue don't want M or R service at their stations. The E and F are preferred.
@@Futuristbillpicone They don't need to eminent domain the system to audit it. Heck, you don't even need the fed to audit them, the state has the power to do so.
I'm not surprised, I've been taking the G service almost every day for the past 6 years. It has always been messy service sometimes on weekdays, and it gets considerably worse, especially on weekend holidays. Don't try to make it look as if you are doing a service to those of us who use the G line daily. You are not! This specific thing you spoke about has already been happening with Shuttle busses for at least 2.5 - 3 years now. It's really suck that the MTA has been making a mockery of citizens tax dollars and still they would comes on here with more lies to it looks like they are helping.
