Just found your channel. I did this particular repair about 2 years ago on my G63. That window rails is a real PITA to go back in. Other than that, it's a pretty easy job. I found your channel looking for the Ferrari PTU leak issue, so it was great to see you are working on a custom fix.
Thanks for the upload. I couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t get the lock out …. I did the removal. I was Al le to remove and reinstall the window and the window frame without removing the window mechanism. I also agree with the earlier comment, If all you need to do is replace the spring on the lock, the. It can probably be done without removing anything and a nice mirror. I found my spring sitting in the bottom of the door. The end Had broken off. I bent the last two coils up and reattached. We’ll see how long that lasts for.
Thanks. This is a first for the G but I’ve had to change the Regulator’s a few times, it’s annoying but not difficult. This is a much more complicated job. I wish my wife would sell her Wagon. Does anyone know if that mechanism needs replacing or is it fixable?
In most cases it's just a small spring. I put a link to where you can buy the spring in the description. Mercedes only sells the whole latch at a much higher cost
Think it's possible to salvage the existing spring? I ordered one from fourbyfourclub two weeks ago and my order was canceled and refunded. I'm guessing they're no longer in stock.
Can you leave the glass secured to the door tape or suction cups and skip the window frame removal or does that have to come out to remove that damned plastic cover that is keeping me from simply replacing the spring with the lock latch still in the door?
I I know the regulator assembly has to come out. I guess that glass frame has to come out (or at least be loosened) go move out of the way to remove that plastic cover?
@@breedshill7333 I had to remove it to get to the latch. There might be a way to do it, but it comes at the risk of breaking, bending or scratching some expensive stuff in there. If you just follow the way I removed it, I find that you should save more time then playing with it. I used to try to figure short cuts out with my work, but most of the time, I end up doing it the original way as well as wasting time and breaking something. Sometimes there are tricks, but most of the time, the shortest way to do it, seems like the long way.
I don't know. When I did this repair, I didn't know the spring was the problem and had a replacement latch already. It's very tight and behind other things. I don't think it's possible.
