G2 Esports is Europe's most dominant League of Legends team and the most successful Western team ever. Welcome to LoLAthlete, this is the entire history of G2 Esports in 100 Seconds. Subscribe for more League content :)
G2 was not the first Western Team who made it to the worlds Finals since 2011. Just one year prior fnatic made it to the worlds finals(also losing to a chinese Team).
Sorry I meant more of their performance was more successful. They lost less games than Fnatic to make it to the finals, and their overall strength was higher compared to the competition. Should have phrased it that it was the best performance in general, not since 2011. Oops😅
@@LoLAthlete actually Fnatic went 3-1, 3-0 in their Bo5’s to make it to finals. G2 went 3-1, 3-1. Both G2 and FNC went 5-1 in groups, with FNC actually snatching first seed with a tiebreaker win. G2 lost 2 more games than FNC to end up with the same result: an 0:3 devastating loss in finals.
@@LoLAthlete Don't worry 2011 was not an actual Worlds since there were no estern teams attending, that tournament was nothing more than a early Rift Rivals
My feedback: G2 no longer had a wide reputation as "international chokers" after MSI 2017, a tournament which you didn't mention at all. MSI 2017 was G2's international redemption in the eyes of a lot of fans. "Mediocre group stage exit" is a bit of a revisionist statement for G2's performance in Worlds 2017. They were placed in the group of death; contemporary commentary was fairly positive towards G2. G2's 2nd place in Worlds 2019 is not "the best result any Western team has found at Worlds since 2011"; Fnatic got 2nd place in 2018. Saying they won their 2020 summer split in a "convincing fashion" is an exaggeration. While they did smash Fnatic in the final, the rest of the split was filled with bumps. They only finished 3rd in the regular season, then lost to Fnatic in the upper bracket of playoffs and were almost eliminated by Rogue in the lower bracket, barely grabbing a Game 5 win after a hard-fought 44 minutes. Calling their 2022 season "alright domestically" when they won one split and were runners-up in the other is underplaying their results. Fnatic got 2nd place, but overall, everybody who is watching Leauge, knows, that G2 2nd place, was way more harder to get, fnatic were doing really good, but they got the easiest playoffs ever.
this material has a lot of holes in it, like, how could you not mention Jankos replacing Trick, he was a face of G2 alongside Caps and Perkz, and yeah, their performance was great in 2019, but FNC was also in finals in 2018, tbh this video could be prepared better
really great vid, got almost everything important that someone who has never heard of the team would need to know. The sound effects on every text cut-in and scene change got a little annoying though imo
Thank you Mr. Poro, I appreciate the kind words. Still trying to find the best balance of editing for these shorter videos. Really like your unique builds series :) reminds me of Disco Heat from back in the day
bro no offense but how can u make a video about G2 history and not even mention first blood king jankos?? his duo with perkz and later caps was unmatched
I thought about doing that similar to the TSM video, but decided to exclude it didn’t really affect the org as a whole too much, especially the League of Legends brand. Unlike TSM regi who was the face of the org I feel Carlos/Ocelote wasn’t as synonymous with G2. So his departure didn’t really change much as least from the outside
I talked about them beating SKT and TL to win MSI, the role swap was implied when caps joined and I showed the team rosters hit you’re right I should’ve touched upon it more.
