Love your websight , I have a laundry list of wish parts I want for my G35. Originally I was thinking the jwt twin turbo kit , I really love the sound of turbo spool. Alot of opinions are telling me to stick with the vortech sc kit because of the maintenance costs and complexity of a turbo set up. But just about every import these days is released with the turbo set up ( i know mainly because of the need to meet gas mileage restrictions) anyway they must be pretty reliable if production cars are getting them right? If turbo is going to be constant tweeking and tuning and replacing parts I guess I should go with vortech for my g . What's your honest opinion between the two set ups . Thanks for your input .
on a stock engine? aluminum block, open deck.... it wont last very long without supporting mods/enhancements. The block needs to be resIeeved, you have to upgrade the pistons, connecting rods, port and polish the heads, install heavy duty valves with valve springs and retainers, titatanium, balance the crankshaft install a fuel return system, install aftermarket FPR, bigger injectors, then you have to have it tuned, dynoed, Then you need to ugrade your suspension depending on driving style. By the time its all said and done and done RIGHT, one will have invested 2-3 times if not more than the actual value of the car. Its alright if you plan on racing, trailer queen out to the race track and winning money but for daily driving, not practical. I used to want to do that stuff to my cars but after growing up and actually researching the costs and what all of this entails, it isnt worth it to me. If the car was meant to have all that on there, then the factory would have installed it, its better to buy a car already equiped that way from the factory. Not trying to shoot anyone down, but I see a lot of kids posting on here probably working minimum wage, this kind of investment is waay out your league, so save your pennies, go to college get a career going and if you have the extra dough to throw around, hey go for it.
Oh god you're one of them scare tatic guys that believes because he knows so much about cars that you are a Titan to the car game and everything you say is right and everyone is wrong... Nice write up altough it does not -require- none of that, RECOMMENDED yes. My buddy's car has been running with no issues on an every day basis at 7psi tuned. Runs just fine. A/F ratios are great, oil is on point, temps are perfect. That's a nice scare tatic used there buddy. Now That's also a nice SAFE way to perfectly build your car but these Z's can withstand 400hp with a good tune and supporting basic mods like exhaust, injectors. I would at minimal replace the rods but as long as you keep your boost levels safe you are good to go. How I know? Because i ran a 351w with hyper pistons at 9psi on a carbed car for a year before i sold it and never pinged or knocked as well as the stock 302 at 15psi stock motor down to the rods... had my 4 cyls the same way, a 300zx the same way and even got balsy at 10psi for 2 weeks and pulled it back down. I see 6-7 psi on stock motors all day long where I live except for one running 10psi for his money making, 11 full runs, not shitted a brick yet.
WG Consultants no he's not because he's wrong. All of that is not necessary on this build. A vq35de can reliably handle 400-450 horse power on stock internals so this build is totally acceptable. If you were looking to make the baddest, fastest vq35 build then you would have to go with what he said. But for a street build none of that is necessary in these blocks. Know-it-alls tend to never know it all. Pay it forward gents!
@MomentumPerformance curious how is the uprev tune on the momentum kit? is it rated for lik 8 p.s.i im considering going back into the world of forced induction and love this kit but reliability is my issue... as you know the 05-06 z have some oil cusumption issues but can it safely be boosted without problem or should i save and build? also considering a procharger... anyways keep up the good work!!! you do alot of work on my buddy mike k's 300z you built it last summer
Most Single Turbo kits are around $6-$8000. Although the Rev9 kit (Turbonetics replica kit) can be had for around 2k and the Kanji Single Turbo kit utilizes a Precision turbo at a low cost of $3k for their kit. If you want to go BIG and can muster the coin for it... AAM has a Twin Turbo kit for $10,000. I "think" Greddy still makes Twin Turbo kits for the G35 as well, but I could be wrong on that one. The cost is likely similar to that of the AAM kit. Anyway, hope that answers your question. Oh and as for pricing on install... I live in Washington state and the lowest price I was quoted was $4000 for install and tuning ALONE. Not including the price of the turbo kit.
@Z1Motorsports/MomentumPerformace Very Solid Kit. I believe I see a Kinetix upper plenum on this G... What other mods did this car have prior to going FI? Also was install just the turbo kit or did you add Momentum headers and exhaust?

philip shamoun yeah, I posted this a while ago when I was drunk and before I bought this car. The G35 is an amazing machine btw. And now that I've done a little more homework I think people underestimate the VQ motors. I'm probably the first on the internet to admit I was wrong so there it is. I don't care, I'm gonna do a burnout tomorrow :p
Question!.. I've always wanted to get a turbo but I kinda have no clue about installing or anything like that.. If I buy a turbo kit will I be set? Or do I need to buy more then just the turbo kit?
On a stock block… it wolnt be a daily.. it will be a few days.. then done lol. Wonder how much money wifey had to shell out ? Anyone else this would cost 10-15k they’d charge you for the kit and a markup, dyno time, any mechanical issues would be like 250$ an hour or More, not to mention uprev reflash. And I’m sure it goes on.. you guys should pick one subscriber every month and show up at their door pimp my ride style, take their car and bring it back tuned with a turbo kit.. you’d get amazing feedback and more business
@MomentumPerformance can i have a job.... lmfao ill let you test out new parts on my 350z rev :) well it was worth a shot guess ill just keep on with construction.... damn lol
