I remember Spyro 2, i was sleeping over at a firends house he just bought this game and he played it while my brother, his brother and I watched and the line "The baby turtle will lead the way" cracked us up so much
so let me get this straight insomniac went from my favorite games like spyro to ratchet and clank just like naughty the dog went from crash to jak and daxter.... WHOA.
The first three "Spyro" games are amongst the best ever made, I haven't played the "Ratchet and Clank" and "Resistance" games and I know I'm missing out! Insomniac is awesome though, and I miss the glory days of the platformers like "Crash Bandicoot" and "Spyro" - even "Jak and Daxter" and "Ratchet and Clank".
razorjake G4 sold out long before they were taken off the air. Remember when they traded all their good shows for star trek reruns? only got worse from there.
Spyro the Dragon was the first ever game that went and made me fall in love with video games! I hope that I can one day produce an awesome game like Spyro!
I remember watching this show back in the day. I believe this is why i told my parents to get me Up your arsenal for Christmas. Played every rachet and clank game before, and after since. Love them all.
I love games like Mario and Sonic, but Spyro, Crash, Ratchet & Clank, Jak and Daxter, and Sly all have a special place in my childhood, love all of those games
I remember i got a ps1 for my 6th birthday, my parents bought my crash 1, rayman, a mickey mouse game and hercules and my dads friend bought me Spyro 2. my life changed forever haha!
My god, the first ever all nighters I ever had, they all dealt with me and two pals just wasting hours upon hours of Jak games, Spyro games, and Ratchet and Clank (with some Halo in there)
I loved Disruptor very much when it launched back in '96. I did not however, care for Spyro The Dragon. I was just becoming a young adult and Spyro was akin to a children's game. There was so much available on the original PlayStation (I had a Saturn and N64 as well) that it really wasn't a loss for me. However, that all changed when Ratchet & Clank launched. I have played and own every single entry Insomniac has release. Further, we (fiancee and I) are ready for the new game in the series and will pick it up on day one for our PS5 *physical. I would also love to see a return of Resistance Fall of Man as well.
If anything, the series that Activision created (Skylanders) is a spin-off Spyro series. So I don't think they'd have to lose that series.What I mean is, maybe Insomniac could bring back the original Spyro franchise. While at the same time, Activision can continue with the spin-off series. :)
The awesome thing about Spyro is that it's accessible to someone who's never played a game before, yet at the same time it offers challenges to experienced gamers going for 100%.
It's depressing to see the old Spyro now. There's a slight chance we can still see Naughty Dog make another Crash game if they buy the rights back (as the IP isn't doing so well these days) but Skylanders is so popular that we will likely never see another good Spyro game ever again. I wish that Naughty Dog would try to buy the Crash IP though, 1/2 is better than nothing.
i was born in 1995, so when this this game 1 came out. ohh nvm 1996, i was 1. i wouldnt mind play this now, my 1st game system was playstation. then when xbox came out i went to them and stayed
Funny how they wanted to name the company Resistance which is what they have named their newest game franchise. It also interesting how they left Universal along with Spyro to go onto Ratchet and Clank. The same way Naughty Dog left Universal with Crash Bandicoot to make Jak and Daxter. Now Uncharted and Resistance couldn't be more different from both each other and what their companies started with.
Ratchet & Clank is not Sony's best selling franchise but it up there with the big dogs, Jak and Daxter, God of War and so on. There are rumours that not only R&C will get a movie, Jak and Daxter and Sly Cooper is also rumoured to get animated movies.
If you have a PS3 get the 'Sly Collection', ' Jak and Daxter Collection' and 'Ratchet and Clank Collection'. Basically 3 games in one CD in HD and 3D for 40 dollars.
Will someone PLEASE make a fan-based spin off of the original Spyro games? Of course you can't call him "Spyro", but make him a dragon, BLUE (since blue is the closest thing you can get to purple) breathe fire, and charge. + glide&hover with headbashing and swimming of course. But I want a game where you collect dragons, Orbs, AND eggs. Have the Dragons throughout the level, Orbs in side quests, and eggs by catching theives. :DDDDDDDDD
i don't know about that :( considering what's happened to him and skylanders. Spyro's no longer a character, he's just a little stamp on the box to get more sales :( but I do hope he comes back
yeah that sounds perfect. combining the exploration elements of twinsanity and the more linear elements of the classic is just what would make it great. and if there was one thing i did think radical did right was add a co op feature. maybe they could bring that back.
Ah, good point. I diddn't know he was doing this for no prophit. That's a shame, he can make millions if he made a game himself and modeled it after the original trilogy, but you have to change it enough so it's not breaking copyright laws.
No, they don't. They have stated for the last 12 years that they have no intention of ever working on the Spyro franchise again. Ted Price has stated, however, that he's pleased with the new direction for the series.
No I don't, please tell me! The Ratchet & Clank movie was a rumour with a Jak and Daxter movie and Sly Cooper. A Ratchet & Clank movie was the next day revealed, Jak and Daxter and Sly Cooper will probably be too, sooner or later.
Well, i'd absolutely loathe them if they did it now, but i would have understood had they done it after A Crack in Time. It rounded up the series in a very hard to improve on game.
I heard rumors about that, not sure if they are true, but it doesn't change anything.:( Activision will never give them Spyro series back D:. They're making too much money by selling expensive game and figures Dx.
I doubt Jak & Daxter would get a movie. Since they stopped making games years and years ago. But Sly Cooper would work pretty well as a cartoon or something.
Ah, I see. Well, that could change things (if it's really true). Because Insomniac CREATED Spyro. And I think that technically, they should be able to buy back the franchise.
I agree 100% that Year of the Dragon was the best of the first 3. I unfortunately also played Enter the Dragonfly. Never finished it though cause I hated it.
They have such amazing music in spyro. That and zelda have the most enjoyable soundtracks ever. I also love love love ratchet and clank. I have beat them all with pride and still own them today! Along with spyro!
"insomniac has to say goodbye to their little purple dragon"... Why did they abandone the series if they want to regain it now? It's too late now, Activision will never give Spyro back to Insomniac. :(
overall Ratchet and Clank had a really good run. they have like a dozen games and its only natural that some franchises loose their steam after awhile. but in the end its probably due to the fact that Insomniac hasnt been keeping up on all the series. they let other people work on them and those are the worst ones. I would rather Insomniac just put the breaks on Ratchet for awhile and work on a spiritual successor of course. cause whether we like it or not Ratchet will end sooner or later.
Only just started playing Ratchet and Clank, and tbh its a really good game, is it better then, the 3 original spyro's? No! Is it better then the new spyro games? Hell yes!
Only if he makes money off of the game. Activision can't legally do anything as long as he acknowledges the copyright owners and does not make any profit off of it
yeah that would be perfect for crash, hopefully they come to their senses and reboot it (like what retro did with donkey kong country returns) so more younger kids can play a real crash game.
At first I hated it but I gave it MANY chances but I dunno something about it just says original and separates itself from other shooters. But I definitely know what you mean
and somehow in a sick twist of fate, Skylanders is selling well and Activision thinks THAT THING is Spyro. Activision let radical kill crash when they released mind over mutants and titans that both sucked. crash and Spyro were not even in Playstation Allstars, that would have at least said they cared a little bit......
Yes! That I will not disagree with! So was the Jak and Daxter series, millions of fans are still waiting for their return but Naughty Dog, well they hint and hint, that's all they do...
I think they learned what would happen if they ever sold their IPs when they sold Spyro. XD That being said, if they ever feel a need to shelf the series (though I hope they don't), nothing I can really say except that that's life.
Don't compare the two. The original good Spyro games were made by Insominiac games, whereas all the Banjo games were made by Rare, even Nuts and Bolts.
