The only problem with the new 2 frigates it got bongogonized, it is still a floating gunboat and unacceptable comparing to Vietnam's frigate or other Asean countries which is already fully loaded with weps. Men and women of the Philippine navy deserves the best formidable wep system out there that can deliver the package against opposing force, since they will be the very frontlines dealing with it when it hits the fan. Protecting the country is priceless, no matter how much it cost. The government should not be cheap on these things! C-STAR was cut down to 4 from the standard 8 launchers, it's already a handicap gunboat! Hoping the 2 new corvettes won't be pathetic and will have formidable weps already.

This is very ideal to PH Navy. Govt should invest in having more frigates/corvettes. Ph is an archipelago that's kinda hard to defend from shore attacks so having fast attack crafts deployed across the islands will be great

You prolly gonna wait for another 15 years for the Philippines to acquire such an expensive warship. The cheapest aircraft carrier is the HTMS Chakri Naruebet costs around 285 million dollars. (Di ko alam if this is true kase mula toh sa Wikipedia) Repairs and upgrades aren't included and we're one of the most weakest navy in south east asia. Even with our ships combined, jt can't even defeat a ww1 two or even a fleet from Imperial German navy.

It's ok to have these warships but still not enough to recover lost territories to China. Actually we can never have the capability to defend our existing territories except when the US help us.
That is the main reason why they consider it a light frigate due to VLS absence. Pero importante tlga sa warships ang CIWS kaya ito ang pinapriority ng Navy ngayon na ma acquire. And hopefully makuha na nila pati na rin ang VLS, anyway ready for modification naman ang rizal class frigate dahil naka design talaga sila for future upgrades. Wait there's more!! Ok po ang DND sa pagbiling mga depense asset at kailangan lang laging may Speedcraft escort at advance helis assault combined to detect early a far and submarine and make possible attack if needed to protect our people and the vessels too. And if make comfrontation take a full blown the enemy vessels instanly when it deserves.. Its only concern advise but be right and just decided it better but not to late.
Naging malaking issue yan dati. dahil taliwas sa approved design ang Hanwha System pero HHI pushed the procurement of the system without the approval of the DND and PN. it was investigated at lumalabas na may mga tao sa Palasyo ang nagka-pera as "gift". sa kahabaan ng imbestigasyon lumabas ang pangalan ni Bong Go bilang influencer, pirmado pa nga nya yung isang post-it na may naka-sulat na "please consider" biglang itinigil ang ibestigasyon at ipinikit na lang ng DND at ng PN ang kanilang mga mata at tinakpan ang mga tenga.

They are not. They only have 8 missiles. Compared to US Constellation class frigate na may 38 missiles. Let us not talk about Chinese frigate which are even more armed. Even with the 8 VLS and a CIWS. It wont compare against a single frigate from other nations.
Based on credible data the following missing & necessary armaments are critical to be supplied for the 2 new Jose Rizal frigates (BRO J Rizal & Gen A Luna) asap: A) 1 × Close-in weapon system (FFBNW- Fitted For But Not With) This weapon is the last resort or back up to shoot down in coming.enemy missiles or aircrafts at close range. B)8-cell Vertical Launching System (FFBNW- Fitted For But Not With)). This missile (ASM, SAM. SSM) @ longer range of about 100-150 km to shoot down enemy aircrafts, enemy vessels or land based enemy facilities far from visual. range only through radar (CMS- Combat Manage System). Note: since the release of the 2 new frigates almost more than 1 year the above 2 armaments possibly were plagued by lack of Philippine financial budget to procure the above. The Philippine Navy should give priority to purchase and retrofit the missing weapons rather than procure other naval assets. Without the above armamaments the 2 new frigates are sitting ducks to counter Chinese PLA frigates or missile fast crafts!
Hindi na masama ang mistral sa brp jose rizal at brp luna. Dahil ang mistral kaya humabol ng fighter jet at tirahin ang incoming missile . Kahit Mac 4 o 5 ang bilis.. mas accurate daw ang mga defense missile kumpara sa CIWS na automated gatling gun. Kaya sigiro yan ang inuna ng NAVY yung mistral kase capable naman sia as defensive weapon

Update lang sir nakikita naman natin yung dalawang barko at walang nakalagay na C-Star anti-ship missiles. Paano matatakot ang kalabang frigates niyan? Pang speedboat/patrolboat lang kaya nitong takotin. Sinabi sa procurement requirements ng PN na dapat meron C-Star pero sa final product ay wala ang mga ito. Nasaan na napunta ang bayad natin walang anti-ship missiles ang ating dalawang frigates.

At Isa pa iwasan na utak talangka, buti nga brand-new na mga new assets nang AFP di na mga galing junkyard na pininturahan lang para mag mukhang bago atleast yan state of the art na mga naka lagay na computer system ay hightech di napag iwanan nang panahon. Konting tiis nalang lalakas na din ang AFP Natin. Basta wag lang iboboto mga Dilawan at mga NPA na mga anay sa lipunan.

The downside of the Philippine Navy Frigates is the Combat System Management (CMS) installed is the S Korean local design HANWA system which is not battle proven and still in its proto type stage, worst is not compatible to NATO or other allies navy.. The CMS is the heart of the tracking and locking / firing of its guns, missiles and torpedoes against enemy ships. Instead of the Tacticas Thales of Netherlands as stipulated in the original contract, HHI did a breach of contract by installing inferior HANWA system. Note that original S Korean Navy do not even utilize this HANWA CMS. Any confrontation with the Chinesr Navy, this type of CMS might not be effective and will have flaws or bugs, thus the Philippine frigates will be in sitting duck situation or at the mercy of the assertive and aggressive Chinese Navy.

Until now, Rizal class guided-missile frigates are still frigates without guided missiles. What a waste! Patrol ships lang ang kinalabasan. Mabuti pang bumili na lang ng Brahmos anti-ship guided missiles, mas mura pa at mas effective kumpara nitong pang display lang.
In my opinion, Jose Rizal Class Frigates will be strong and capable to counter naval threats when the following armaments and subsystems were installed and functional: > 8 cells VLS with VL Mica missiles, if Mica missiles are quad packed the better so that it can have 32 VL Mica missiles in total. But if not, it needs additional Mk. 29 launcher for 8 RIM -162 Evolved Sea Sparrow Missiles so that its MRSAM will be 16 for AAW to engage Cruise missiles and aircraft. > 1 gun type CIWS either Phalanx CIWS or equivalent in addition to its 2 x twin Simbad RC launchers for Mistral 3 missiles SHORAD CIWS. > Towed Array Sonar System for ASW and if possible they can have vertically launched ASROC since these ships have 8 cells VLS > Additional 4 incline launchers fo Haesong 700K SSM Antiship Cruise Missiles in order to make a total of 8 Antiship Cruise Missiles on standby for ASuW. If not, there's 8 cells VLS and also I think Haesong 700K Antiship missiles have vertically launched and if possible they can acquire the vertically launched Haeryong Land Attack Cruise Missiles which is the extended range Haesong 710K up to 1500km. So, if there's enough budget JRC Frigates (FF150 & FF151) will definitely improve its capability to counter naval and aerial threats.
Downgraded CMS, still no TASS provision, and 4 anti-ship missile launchers only vs the standard 8 on most frigates. Take into account that Taiwan will be fielding a corvette with 16 anti-ship missile launchers. These "frigates" should be downgraded to corvettes. Better a strong corvette than a weak, wannabe "frigate".
Fake news tho. 4 ashms isn't an issue, obviously it can carry 8, while 16 is too much (distributed firepower is far better). It's called frigate as it is designed as so, & there is no absolute distinction w/ corvette but if u claim there is, then prove it

Lalakas pa ang kapabilidad Ng Jose Rizal Class frigate kapag ma-install na Ang gun type CIWS at Kun pwede 16 cells VLS at kung may budget pa lagyan Ng towed array sonar system. I think sa structure Ng JRC Frigate ay Malaki ang space provided for VLS, so it is possible to have it 16 cells VLS.
Hindi pa kinompleto o dinamihan ang armas nito kulang kulang pa, ay di mag purchase ka pa uli ng panibago o mag modify butas uli para madagdagan ng armas, maganda sana kung may provision na ang warships for additional arms nito, kaya yong mga in charge sa mga projects ng ph.warships sana maingat.
