By far the most admirable character in the show, in my opinion. Not gifted (in fact, the opposite), no powerful parents, no random power ups, no special biological abilities, not incredibly intelligent. Just... unyielding, willful, and determined.
@@robinchen9694 except Bruce Wayne’s parents are at least rich and his father the owner of a multi-billion company, so they were at least able to fund his time as Batman, whereas Rock Lee had nothing except his determination.
Me and my family watched this on tv even tho this is my phone im just commenting here because half my family cried but the eldest brother has a video of all of us crying and when he showed me i laughed looking at us crying like newborn babies
Well kinda cause it pretty much down hill for him he was so cool and I believe more people love Lee more than naurto and all what happen is he just became a background character
One of the best fights in anime history. Lee taught us that life isn't fair and sometimes we have the deck stacked against us. But much like his training weights, these burdens can be our greatest strength. All we have to do is embrace them, and never stop perceiving
@@DanielHernandez-gx4kh uhmm...no? Madara Uchiha was the reincarnation of a demigod and was the most talented of a clan with a unique talent...and yet Gai almost killed him even tho he was powered up byHashirama's cells and by the Juubi and the divine tree...
@@kuroroluxifer8321 and the main character, who supposedly embodies those ideals ends up being the reincarnation of ninja Jesus with a pedigree of the strongest and most influential people to ever live with Clifford the big red dog in his belly giving him all the Chakra he will ever need. By the end of the series he's basically the moon God or whatever. Lee would have made the show bearable. Negi was right and he got bodied by Naruto because of plot armor and the fact that Naruto was leagues and above more gifted than negi ever would be
@@_NobodySpecial_ The fact they sidelined Lee by crippling him in this will always give me the shits to no end, yeah his training made him op in certain ways but not unbeatable. There's lots of rock, paper, scissors in Naruto for powers and skills so it just seemed way unnecessary. Also I'd totally watch an alt-universe naruto reboot where Lee was the focus character and didn't get his bones crushed by Gaara.
they nerfed him by injuring him, even if he managed to recover from it he's still not a top power. and also the writers never payed too much attention to him, he had so much potential with the gates, drunken fist and taijutsu in general.
I'm sorry but I will never change my mind. The flashback scene between Lee and Guy will always bring tears to my eyes. Those two are the perfect student - teacher pairing. And Guy was by far the best sensei in the series. Period. Better than Jairaya and better than Kakashi. Better than Minato. Guy was 100% of the reason Lee didn't give up on himself.
@@ireplytostupidpeople4750 The fact that Gaara is a jinchuriki IS the plot armor. Lee fought gaara in a way that can make shukaku appear, but he didn't, since plot armor.
he would have more will than all the lanterns combined even broken legs didn't break his will then if someone like batman were smart enough to distract him then slip his ring off, his 8 inner gates would still be a thing when ringless nobody would be strong enough to beat him with his ring powers and nobody capable of taking his ring off can fight him ringless this is actually a great scenario
I love how he managed to edit the video in a way that it allows it to be in full with no cuts and there isn't any repeating. There aren't many others quite like it
Guy look like he wanted to fight gaara😂. Lets be honest both gaara and lee were just unlucky to face each other, because at that point of the series they were the strongest
@@tokentrend3614 sasuke is known as the strongest in is class not the tournament, only is classmates didn't want to face him apart from naruto. Neiji was feared because of the clan he is from on the fact that he is a genious, neiji wouldn't stand a chance against any of the hidden sand representative, it is clear that both gaara on lee was the strongest before their battle, neiji can't stop gaara chakra points if he can't touch him and if lee was to open the fifth gate against neiji or sasuke it would be over for them. Neiji didn't underestimate naruto its just that he didn't know he was a jinchuriken have different chackra apart from his
@@tokentrend3614 neji lost cus of some bullshit shouldve had naruto lose to make him realize he need to work on his skills before he could "prove" neji wrong.
I think one of the biggest crimes of this series was how Kishimoto kinda forgot about Rock Lee in Shippuden. Sure he made up for it a little by having guy be the only one that could fight Madara at his strongest... but still.. Really disappointed by the lack of development for Lee.
Guy was the teacher and trainer we all needed. First time hearing him giving lee tht speech I legit cried I’m 24 and still cry till this day can’t thank no one but guy for my goals
@Adrian Scott i never watched naruto but as far as i know, naruto and sakuke are the strongest in the end no..? and both are born strong so…talent > hard work in this verse?
Lee went against a fucking unhinged jinchuriki and had him just about ready to fully unleash the beast. WITH TAIJUTSU ALONE. The way Guy went up against Madara and is recognized as strong as fuck, Lee has all that potential and more. One of the strongest and best characters in the show hands down. The particles in the air as Gaara looses control more and more are a fantastic touch. I remember seeing that as a kid and being like. ‘No matter how much I want this to be a win.. I think Lee is going to fucking die.’
Just like icarus, he flew too close to the Sun, got burned, and fallen down hard. Honestly, in some ways that would've been preferrable to his actual ultimate fate!
I don't care how wild things get in future episodes with superpowers and jutsu's and all that, this scene with Rock Lee dumping the super heavy weights is still one of the most epic scenes in Naruto in my opinion.
This was basically the main final exam. Aint no way sasuke and naruto stood a chance against the hidden lotus 5th gates. This was the deciding round for chunin exams
@@simon801 weightless lee is base speed. weights on is not base speed that's a handicap lmao. And how would sasuke expect to hit lee? The only reason he used chidori is because there was literally a sitting duck target. At this point the only direction sasuke knows how to go with chidori is a straight line
I’m older now. Lee’s perseverance was critical to me as a high schooler when I first got into Naruto. But rewatching this years later, I’m extremely touched by Guy reassuring Lee that “he already proved it”. And Kakashi telling Naruto to “be worthy of his sacrifice”. Those two things hit extremely close to home at 31 years old.
I felt for gaara when he looked at lee master hugging lee after he loose his conscious because gaara has no one to care for him, they both injured yet no one came for him. 😢
Yea all I got from this was lee still lost even after everything. N hard work doesnt pay off but u you'll get some good looks from it. No use in putting ypur best foot forward lol.
@@jaydenlee6573 so the child of profecy and the reincarnation of a literal Demi god doesn't make him talented, he had a very large pool of chakra and her was the son of Minato and he was capable of mixing a chakra nature with the rasengan, it was the nine tails that used to mess with his chakra
Bro there’s literally a dude who uses sand to break bones and kill people and crap, who also turned into a tailed beast not too long after this. What are you on about?
@@snakey934Snakeybakey 🤓. Y’all say this about EVERY fight in the OG naruto, not understanding there are very little differences between the two. Shippuden > OG idc
Here I am again. Lee is my role model. No talent, doesn't fit in, but has fallen in love with training to reach his goals. I will never give up, because that's what true strength is.
@@tokentrend3614 don't let the awesomeness of this great fight distract you from the fact that Tentens fastest speed feat was jogging around her opponent
Everyone who has ever struggled in some physical discipline should watch this. Big dreams and bad genes, you are only ever a failure if you give up, what an inspiration 🙏
@@snakey934SnakeybakeyTeam Guy deserve so much better! One of the most superior teams considering Neji being the rookie during their time. Lee and Tenten are good too and they have their own goals and ambitions💚 that's why they're my favorite team!
@@RickyUzumaki993 I think particularly we gravitate towards this battle because of the balance, but not in the normal sense where they're matched in skill. They're both just as amazing in their respective fields. No power ups, no enhancing foods or substances. Its really just a clear testament to the old debate on nature and nurture. Truth is, we ultimately don't know or can't prove how it concludes,,, but we're sure its very, very close.
Guy is an amazing professor, really. People focus too much learning skills they have too much trouble developing, instead of apprimirating what they ARE good already. Guy did the opposite of any sensei would do, and guided Lee into being a Taijutsu specialist. Holly damn.
you guys do realize Naruto was as strong as Sasuke during the chunin invasion arc scaling from the Gaara fight and Neji gave Naruto extreme diff and would've won had he not dropped his guard and celebrated prematurely. Neji even has dojutsu and could easliy track Lee with it. Lee's rotation also reverses the force of your attack back at you which would be suicide if Lee even crashed into it. It's ALOT closer than people think and even Gaara was threatened when he saw Neji fight.
@@Coffee2024. naruto only had shadow clones and summoning, Sasuke had fireball and chidori. The reason why sasuke was winning was because his sharingan copied lees attributes and lightning counters earth style (sand). Plus, lee can move way too fast for neji to react and he can do it for a lot longer than neji can do rotation. Rotation also takes a lot of chakra. I doubt lee ever fought neji without his weights.
That’s the irony of this matchup. Lee could have won against literally anyone except for Gaara. For Gaara, there was nobody else who could have touched him except Lee.
Man this guy is awesome. Full fight not only but the full episode. Rewatching this episode is the perfect naruto nostalgia. Legendary fight, legendary episode
If you really break it down. This was a fight of strictly ninjutsu without taijutsu vs taijutsu without ninjutsu. At first glace this fight seems so one sided. It's only years later that this clicks to me just how balanced it actually is
So gaara was able to get out of his sand armor and hid himself all while move faster than Lee and floating in the air. Yeah those substitutions are just magic teliportation that's probably why they fell off later on in the series
still the biggest plot armor win in all of anime. bro, even the first blow after Lee's 4th gate should have been easily enough to completely destroy Gaara
Lee was literally the strongest in the damn series at this point. Literally anyone else would've lost. I don't think Gaara was stronger than Lee, writers just couldn't have Gaara lose for plot reasons.
Yeah lee was the strongest in the chunin exams and would mop the floor with everyone even high level jonin and maybe the hokage but not the strongest in the entire show but might guy is one of the strongest in the verse
Gai is not the equal of Kakashi. Gai was, objectively, by a significant margin, way stronger than Kakashi ever was, even by stealing jutsu and having mangekyo plot armor. Kakashis full potential was not even half of Gais full power.
