Last season wasnt a step up under Emery. Villa were 3rd best team in the league for most of the season before under him. Its basically two years of being 3rd or 4th, not one. Last season wasnt a surprise, it was continuation. I think theyll be better next season too.

I'm just going to enjoy the Champions league campaign because it's not something I ever thought I'd get to see when we were mid table in the Championship under Steve Bruce. In the league this year I'd love us to qualify for Europe again preferably the UEFA Cup over the Conference league and who knows if 5th spot goes to the English Premiership this year with the coefficient maybe CL again could be possible. We are trying to break a very unfair door down to join the elite clubs and we are just starting our journey of raising our revenues to enable us to compete on a regular basis. We will have knockbacks, no doubt, but our owners seem pretty relentless in their goals and obviously have the cash to back it up. Most Villa fans like me are just enjoying the ride. UTV

while villa fans may want us to aim for top 4/5 a ucl spot. Our expectations are more just to get a european spot again so would take conference league again. Pretty sure most villa fans would be happy with any from 7th upwards. heard many people saying this, and expecting us to finish 6th. I think we finish 6th this season. My Dad however is optimistic and thinks we get 3rd haha

I think City, Arsenal and Liverpool will struggle to balance the two extra games in the Champions League so to say Villa will be fine is just classic Gabby bluster and overconfidence. There's been a lot of talk about Champions League regulars bolstering their squads to deal with the increased workload. Also let's not forget that Emery sides tend to fade towards the end of the season so they need to have a strong first half of the season.

villa will stuggle this season. they haven't improved their squad and they can't handle eight games minimum in the CL. The top eight in the mass group qualify, and they won't get it. They're not as good as man City and Arsenal, and Liverpool has a better chance of the top eight then they do.
