Gabby’s husband and his twin brother Scott are both astronauts. What’s especially heartbreaking is Commander Scott Kelly was on the international space station when his sister-in-law was shot. He was unable to be with his brother and sister in law, and was bombarded with questions asking him how he felt about being in space while his sister-in-law fought for her life. Scott and Mark Kelly are my literal heroes. Like they inspired me so much to get into astronomy and astrophysics and just have this all encompassing desire to be an astronaut. So when this happened, I was heartbroken and in shock. I remember it well, despite being only 15. I remember in so many live chats from the ISS, every astronaut was always asked about how Scott was holding up. Uh..how do you think? His sister-in-law was shot in the head and he’s stuck on the international space station, away from them. It always seemed so insensitive. A simple “how is commander Kelly?” Would’ve been acceptable. Not “so how is commander Scott Kelly doing, knowing his sister-in-law lay fighting for her life and he’s stuck up there?”

The fact you were able to discern what you say you were thinking about at the age of 15 tells me that your generation is the last(after mine) to use critical thinking and to understand what true journalism is. Great to see Gabby's recovery. It is so hard to recover from traumatic brain injuries. Mine has gotten better too over time. I remember seeing the video footage. It was during my torture, and I had such a hard time watching because of the terror I was going through. I can understand the move ahead. Hope she doesn't get the PTSD flashbacks. It is horrifying looking back and seeing what the premier criminal terrorist organization in the world did to silence me. It is strange that Gabby was part of that organization and yet still has experienced something so close to what I lived through. I guess there isn't much difference between bullets, poisons, and electronic torture devices that cause brain damaging seizures. Strange how one would hope for the government tyrants to ban the guns while another would hope for guns to stop the government tyrants. We both had our futures unfairly stolen for being nice people. At least she got justice delivered upon her attacker. I wonder what that is like? They didn't even pay for the technological advancement or speeches they stole from me that saved many of their evil lives. What should I expect, I guess. Evil doesn't pay unless they are forced to pay. I wonder if Gabby feels safe now. I still don't feel right and don't think I ever will. At least she had someone to look after her. That is quiet a blessing. Receiving medical care to recover must have been nice too. I was denied medical care by the monsters even though I had insurance and worked in a medical field. Strange how things work for the privileged. Maybe in another 20 years we will meet, be fully recovered and not have a memory left of those dark times.

HOWEVER her cognition is UNBELIEVABLE, considering what her brain endured. Her essence, soul, spirit, consciousness that she was before the shooting, is there. It just takes a hella long time for her to convey what she is thinking. Her mobility looks amazing, that is not scripted. Hand, arm gestures,. looking AT you with intent, not blankly. When she is looking at her husband, it is not for him to coach her, but her trying to push that thought, or word she has "On the tip of her tongue" to him(and when you are in a true loving relationship with another, they learn to read you pretty well).. All that is not prep. If she lives long enough (I hope to 100 she deserves it) she will get better.
Work on how to solve the currently impossible dilemma of parents who know their adult child has something seriously wrong but they cannot get help because they are an adult. This was the situation for the parents of the Tucson shooter. The child can’t get help because they are on the inside and cannot see the problem. The police can’t do anything until a law is broken. In Giffords case that was tragically too late. Until there is a way to navigate getting mental health services for this situation before tragic consequences occur there will be a loophole for gun, other weapon devastating violence.
I’ve heard Ketamine as well brother. Hopefully they’re open to trying novel and more experimental treatments. If I were her or her husband, I’d be pushing for it.

@@thatoneguy8715 the shooter had previous offenses, yet he was still able to legally buy a semiautomatic. How about a federal law that prevents people with a criminal record from buying assault weapons? That would take us 1% of the way to where we need to be but that would be a good start.
@@jayshko he was not able to legally buy any weapon if he was a convicted criminal. We have that already. Its called a background check, you get one before each gun purchase. So he did not buy the gun legally or get it legally

My compromise on guns are none, you can start by getting the mental cases off the streets and in institutions also stop teaching kids to hate their country and other people based off color etc.
