It's funny.. I knew Dave when he was still "the Wave".. 99-03 time frame.. When everyone had records, he used cd's.. I always questioned him (not his talent.. nooo) but why he wouldn't throw down wax. He had a hard time getting gigs bc he didn't play records. He remained adamant that CD turntables were the future .. And he was so right about the direction all the technology went.. No more record bags.. lol. If anyone in this scene deserved all the success they achieved, Dresden is that guy. Highly intelligent and very in tune with life.
I love Gabriel & Dresden productions and particularly Dave's quirky personality behind the decks, but they really can't program a DJ set. For instance, that Andain mash-up clearly belonged near the beginning, and they lost all of the steam coming out of Only Road by following it up with that out-of-place Dominator remix. The mashups were hit and miss, Heaven Scent being the sloppiest. Also i_o is over-rated, but overall decent set.
Huh? Josh and Dave are badass at what they do! The problem here, is them trying to fit everything into an hour set, when they are known for 3+ hour sets. I think you were just being nit picky to be honest, because those 2 things were hardly noticeable and 99% of people wouldn't have noticed or had a problem with either. We're all entitled to our opinions though. Love and positive vibes in your direction.
Every artist needs to change but i think personally G&D lost alot of the credibility they had back in the middle of the 2000s. Their back catalogue got so much gold that their newer stuff just falls...flat.
A lot of the greats (especially the real Progressive DJs, not what they call Progressive now) from the 90s and early to mid 2000s just got pushed to the side or to the back of the bus, because a lot of the newer heads want a drop every 5 mins and don't care about being taken on a journey.
