Gabriel's Oboe by Ennio Morricone from the 1986 movie "the Mission" performed by Frederik Bang. The piece is performed on my Fender Eric Clapton Signature Model plugged to my Engl Ritchie Blackmore Signature Amp.
Brother, amazing rendition. I was at a festival in Korea (mud fest) when out of nowhere the band that was playing stopped and the lead guitarist played this. Your version brought me back to perhaps the best moment of my life
As the comment below suggests, there is a Dire Straits element in your cover. It's simply gorgeous. I'm pretty sure Mr. Morricone is smiling wherever he is while listening. Excellent job, mate!
I am a great fan of Mark Knopfler and an admirer of Ennio Morricone and also his fellow citizen being a Roman like me. I start from the end, thousands of covers of Gavriel's Oboe have been made each with its own style. This version is one of many. Now come the painful notes ...... of Dire Straits and the Knopfler effect there is nothing in this cover .... but only a simple reverberation effect, also the Knopfler technique is fingerpicking .... ... while the boy plays with the pick. It's a whole other story. Good evening.,
@@andreazarlenga5421 Exactly, the reverb makes it evocative of some of Knopfler's recordings. And the willingness to play slowly, crafting the notes, trusting the sparse melody to carry the song. Oh, and a similar single-coil tone. A very different from humbuckers, let alone the soft wooden tone of an oboe double reed. Other than that though- no similarities at all. P.S. Keen of you to note that Bang is using a pick. Granted, many guitarists marvel at how Knopfler gets such attach without a pick. But the fact remains he doesn't use one, so -completely different.
so beautiful and so moving- as a violinist I love that you sometimes do classical pieces-have you ever thought about William Tell Overture by Rossini? Glen Campbell did it and it was amazing
