One of my friends from the UK shared this video today. First time ever hearing her. She sounds like a mix of Amy Winehouse and Norah Jones. Anyother voice I could listen to all day long.
Gabriella was only 16 when she did this, what a talent. It was used in a TV ad in the UK, with people walking on the ceiling, as everything was upside down.
Hard to believe it was this difficult to find this song considering I had a huge crush on her as a teenager. Fuckin had to google "song in which a small woman ties up a man upside down" Needless to say I had to go through a lot of porn.
Unbelievable that this song was released almost 15 years ago! Still remember it like yesterday when the song was seemingly on repeat on radio stations or anywhere you went in 2008 here in the UK. Still a great tune. Great singer!
I was bed-bound after a nasty accident for the first few months of 2008. I had the radio on a lot, and this, along with the Noisettes (Never Forget You) and Annie Lennox (Shining Light) were on heavy rotation. Not that bad a thing really!
Still plays regularly here in NZ. Lately the radio stations have realised nobody wants to listen unless they go back to the 2000s bangers, nothing released in the 2010s comes close to the UK R&B movement that came and went way too quickly imo
Yeah baby it is isn't it a pretty good song baby yeah come on yeah let's get down tonight oh baby oh YEAH DANCE right Baby yeah make me crazy real bright the stars don't come out at night only I do by the fire light because the stars are in my eyes to see you so high in the midnight sky and that's you my baby my Moon shining on me your moonlight.
I love how she starts off singing softly, then gets into her raspy Amy Winehouse bluesy voice just before the chorus, then back to soft in the chorus. It’s just so satisfying to listen to 😍🎼👌🏻X
@@sarahrichards6001 she definitely wasn’t here before Amy Winehouse. Winehouse was nominated for the Mercury Music prize before Cilmi was in her teens.
The 2000's had the best music hits growing up. This song was sure my favorite, when Gabriella sings this. It has that steady blusey vibe of Duffy and Amy Winehouse. You actually have to be a good singer to hit their notes and Gabriella was a natural
90s kids say, the 90s had the best music hits growing up. 80s kids say, the 80s had the best music hits growing up. What do 70s kids say? Huh? Get my point? You are just nostalgic. We all know, the 2000s sucked when we were living them back then. It's just nostalgia.
@@marcor6284 relax, every person has a right to express their likings of music regardless of decade. Obviously if you were brought up in the 70s. You'd say that's the best decade of music which is fine and natural. Point is, each generation had their time with music. Just like people liking 2020s music now
@@hendrickhendrick7034 What really annoys me is the fact, that the same people who claimed, that "this was the time!!!", on the other hand were the same people who complained how much this times sucked when they actually were "the times".
Ooh, watching me... Hanging by a string this time Don't, easily... The climax of the perfect lie Ooh, watching me... Hanging by a string this time Don't, easily... Smile worth a hundred lies If there's lessons to be learned I'd rather get my jamming words in first, so Tell you something that I've found That the world's a better place When it's upside down, boy If there's lessons to be learned, I'd rather get my jamming words in first, so When you're playing with desire Don't come running to my place when it burns like fire, boy Sweet about me Nothing sweet about me, yeah Sweet about me Nothing sweet about me, yeah Sweet about me Nothing sweet about me, yeah Sweet about me Nothing sweet about me, yeah Blue, blue, blue Waves, they crash As time goes by So hard to catch Too, too smooth Ain't all that Why don't you ride On my side Of the tracks If there's lessons to be learned I'd rather get my jamming words in first, so Tell you something that I've found That the world's a better place When it's upside down, boy If there's lessons to be learned I'd rather get my jamming words in first, so When you're playing with desire Don't come running to my place when it burns like fire, boy. Sweet about me Nothing sweet about me, yeah Sweet about me Nothing sweet about me, yeah Sweet about me Nothing sweet about me, yeah Sweet about me Nothing sweet about me, yeah Sweet about me Nothing sweet about me, yeah Sweet about me Nothing sweet about me, yeah
This is song gives me so much nostalgia it used to be on the radio all the time. Even tho I didn’t know what she said since English isn’t my native language I absolutely adored this song.
OMFG!!!! FINALLY! One month ago I suddenly felt the urge to listen to this music, and I simply couldn't remember the name. And today, [again, suddenly] the phrase "Sweet about me" rang in my mind and I immediately typed it. Sooo happy! added to my 'Favorites' playlist!
@@mushmello526 I get your point, which is why I said ´´truly´´. Although I didn´t know it was so overly used - I guess some things just ring universally true.
Eu sempre achava que o nome dessa música era "Oh, Watching me", mas aí pesquisei no RU-vid e descobri que o título era " Sweet About Me", essa música fez parte da minha adolescência
I went to Europe summer of 2008 and this song was everywhere. I come home and don’t here it anywhere. Love this song, don’t know why it wasn’t popular in America.
Quick story.. 3 years ago I got married, although divorcing now,but then at my wedding I hired a group of musicians ,of which I asked specifically 2 songs, one of the King Elvis and one that was this song. She destroyed both songs so I took over, the bride, and sang those and some more. Let me tell you,it really became a party when I sang this and I adore it. Before during and after my wedding ❤ so,thanks ,Gabriela❤ God bless you and your sounds, girl❤
My brother has been searching for this video and song for several years now. He was just completely at a loss looking for it. The combination of her beauty and the song itself just blew him away. He searched high and low, asked people on reddit, the whole nine yards. I'm happy to say that 5 minutes ago he finally found it after about 9 years of searching and he is as happy as a hog in slop.
Oh god, that's the bane of the workplace! Songs you would normally adore start to grate on you because unlike your friends you hear them twice an hour for 8 hours every day. I loved one of Ellie Goulding's first songs 'Starry Eyed' back in something like 2011 (ish) until I was hearing it twice an hour on the radio of the kitchen I worked in. I eventually went slightly mad and threatened to stop serving Piri piri chicken unless the goth kid who cleaned the dishes was allowed to put one of his shit CD's on.
Out of no where this song got stuck in my head. And suddenly It was a Tuesday night my parents always did groceries that day. Our parents were strict and wouldn't let us use the computers. My two brothers hacked into the windows XP computer. My other two sisters would play songs. This song was just released. We would sing this song on the top of our lungs. We had the most toxic home but these memories are the most treasured.
Hello!!! How are you doing today, please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you’re a fan ? Have a great day. Stay Safe
She's albanian from italy. So ethnical albanian just as Rita Ora, Dua Lipa, Ava Max, Bebe Rexha and Era Istrefi. We're a small opressed population but with many talented people. Makes me kind of proud.
Italian from Puglia here, I don't know her story, but I had many friends of albanian discents, especially in Molise region, even tho they've never been in Albania and neither their close relatives did, they still speak a weird dialect and kept a lot of pride for their roots with food and even religion (the black Madonna i.e.). I've heard of surnames like Roschi or Tosches that are clearly albanian, never heard about Climi tho,. Thanks for the information, Albania is an underrated and surprising country, greetings man
I will call and ask her now whether she is from Albenia or Australia. We need clarified informations about her hometown, religion and ethnicity as if they're important for people to know
@@feyziatakan6358 she was born in Melbourne, Australia, and was raised in Dandenong where she went to high school, etc. Her parents are immigrants (I think?) from Italy/Sicily so it's not as if Gabriella herself was born there or even speaks the language. She's of Albanian descent but her nationality is Australian. Hope that's clears it up, no need to call her lmfao 🤣
Why is this beautiful singer so underrated even though she has the same vocal color as Amy Winehouse? Gabriella was in the music market before Amy and yet she didn't get the attention she deserved
Ugh. Please, no... Someone told me it was Miley Cyrus, I wanted to die with each of those options... Ready to give up on the song if it was any of them...

I listened to this song constantly when I was younger, and I finally, through the pure chance in RU-vid's recommended videos, found it again. It brought back some sweet memories and great times, thanks RU-vid.
I past literally 10 years looking for this song. I used to hear when I was a child in a AMV here in RU-vid. But the channel got deleted, so I never learned the name of the song. I'm so happy right now! I used to watch that AMV everyday, so I learned all the melody. But my first language isn't english, so as a child I didn't understand the lyrics, and couldn't search by this in later years. Thank you Gabriella Cilmi, your song is a mark in my childhood!! I will hear it so many times from now on!!!

The three things that can't be explained; 1. Time travel 2. Bermuda Triangle 3. RU-vids recommendation BUT THANKS FOR RECOMMENDING THIS SONG, I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT IT, LOL
I like this thing of mixing Old Soul,Reggae and Jazz...I don't really know how this is called or labeled, but it's something done especially by women (Duffy ,Lilly Allen, Amy Winehouse, Natasha Bedingfield, Adele...) and some men (Michael Bubblée and sometimes Robbie Williams).
Totally agree! Even like Estelle, Alicia Keys, Amy MacDonald and Corinne Bailey Rae are also incredible, too. Also, Amy and Lily are my TWO QUEENS !!! 😍
OMG I finally found this song !! 😵 I first heard it during my work experience at a retail shoe shop 10 years ago !! I been searching for this song for years !! Typing nothing is going to stop me loving you haha And Damn she is beautiful ! 👌 with those eyes ! 👀 and that beautiful voice !! ❤️💛💚💙💜💖💘💝💟💞❣
Was in woolies last night and heard this song which took me way back.. Had to Google who the artist was and couldn't believe she was from Melbs where I live. Such a unique and exotically beautiful talant. You deserve to be far more successful Gabriella.
It was over ten years ago. I was at Kohl’s looking at their overpriced mediocre shoe collection. This song came on over the intercom. I froze and listened because I knew I had to remember enough of it to find it again. This song was the best thing I ever left Kohl’s with.
