She is mostly in B rated movies or appearing on the Lifetime Movie Network movies where is has produced and starred in with a supporting role. Just like the book she released "Everyday I'm Hustling". Well, when MoNique spoke out several years ago what black actress came to her defense. ZERO!!!! Now Taraji is complaining, and some black actresses are coming to her defense. Well, we all know that those that did MoNique wrong did fess up except for Oprah who only said "IF" I have , blah, blah, blah in private along with Tyler Perry. This is why nothing will change in Hollywood for blacks because they don't know how to band together for the cause. I believe Vivica understands that she has not been able to book those blockbuster movies as a lead nor supporting role so she has decided to just be down for herself. This isn't necessarily true. Especially, when take into consideration that jobs for black women are few and far between compared to roles for other people. They don't work as consistently, so the money they make has to last them for an unknown amount of time. They also still have to pay taxes and they really can't get jobs without an agent and lawyer, who they also have to pay. Taraji actually broke this down at one point. She used the example of being paid 100k for a project. When it's over she pockets about 35k. Also keep in mind that's the price for well known black actresses. That's not the price for all of them. Little known people make much less. AND in comparison to their white counterparts some of the top black actresses are grossly underpaid.

Decline a role, then she can't meet her responsibilities? She's not married or has someone to pick up the slack. Even with everyday folk it takes two incomes to survive during these times of inflation, etc. So it's easy to say she should not have taken the role, however, you cannot regulate someone else's finances!!!

She said it was not her experience- BW are not a monolith and every BW is not underpaid in every position out here in these streets. Vivica showed respect by saying to each his own - everyone is entitled to their response and its timing so how Taraji chose to handle it was her decision and there was no need for a hallelujah chorus celebrating her or down crying. And, she also said she loves her girls for supporting each other. It cracks me up that people seem to want to hold Vivica to a code that Taraji didn’t hold to when Monique came out about her issues - unless I missed Taraji sacrificing herself on the altar of expediency? Taraji’s conversation about being underpaid may be her experience and she is entitled to talk about when and wherever she wants. However, I find it curious that she did not have all of this energy about pay equity with Benjamin Button etc. Plus people seem to have selective hearing and keep forgetting that the same Taraji said that there were no other deals - endorsements and the like - being offered or negotiated. In many ways, I think Taraji fumbled her own bag by having lackluster representation who were satisfied with their % - she could have fired them and gotten a new agent to fight for more money or just walked away to show how serious she was about her 💰 instead of talking now about not seeing a raise in 10 years.
