Thanks for being honest and reminding us of the dangers of extending past your means. I know lots of other content creators pretend like money isn’t a thing and ignore these dangers so it’s refreshing to se you talk about it.
^^^ yes i watched this all the way through bc it really put things into perspective. luckily i've only spent $20 myself and am enjoying my level of progression. (42M base) hoping to keep the amount i spend at a healthy amount.
I am so glad to hear. I am no different from the rest of you guys. Heck, my friend's pep talk with me was what led to me filming this video in the first place. I needed help too.
The worst part about buying summoning letters is that having more heroes pressures you to buy more acorns, yellow essenses, etc. Each hero drives its own economy. This is why I stopped summoning celestials. It is like adopting a puppy and finding out you need to pay for it to go to college.
I would also like to highlight his last statement. You can spend way less and still have the same rewards since it’s divided by top 10 or top 20. You gotta be smart and find a proper balance. Sometimes being first just to be first is not worth it.
I really enjoy the topic in this video and the transparency here, i dont follow you yet but i plan to. Thank you for content like this, you dont have to bash a game to give a reality check to the community. I also enjoy that you do not seem to pretend to be something you are not in these videos, it feels more authentic. Thanks for your content i will be watching more often
Real shit, once you've set a baseline for where your characters are, all new ones NEED to be at that level to stay competitive. Do NOT fall into the cycle of keeping up. They want this to be a gambling simulator, but you can still have lots of fun without spending! Get in a good and active guild, make friends, talk tech, push new stages with your own teams. There is NO FINISH LINE. Just have fun. If you wanna spend, do it. If you feel like you need to keep up, don't spend a dime. Go buy Rimworld instead, lol. You'll literally never get bored.
I've already subscribed, but this video would have had me smashing the subscribe button. Finally, some honesty. I get so sick of content creators yelling to get this unit when it's not one of the units they've been pushing for weeks and to get "their" unit it's usually a $100+ dollar investment.
Example: i only bought 10 gazettes of both, noble pack, groth pack, welcome pack that costed 3000 crystal and only buying 1.99 pop up packs only for rate up letters. I top 20 in arena and top 30 in dream realm. Almost same as peope who spent thousands.
This is great advice. I spent quite a bit to get ahead early on and I've been able to slowly climb to top 20 in most modes on my server. I spoke with one of the top 10 players on my server, and it became obvious that I'd have to, at a bare minimum, quadruple my spending to break into the top 10 in short order. The diminishing returns are real and it just didn't make sense for the way I play the game, or my finances, to whale to that level.
I'm close to you, a little less. That being said I have slowed down tremendously and I think it's very important to get this message across. Good video.
Thank you so much for the candidness and covering such an important topic! You mentioned you read a book on video games as a hobby, would you be able to share the name of the book please? Also if you know of any researchers/professors in the field of the importance of gaming to help with a healthy mindset?
Thanks turtle. The amount of pop up packs in this new season has been really crazy. I don't even buy from the normal shop now because of it. I'll do something similar to you.
Honestly, you saved me from needing to spend my money on Soren. I don't think you necessarily needed to take him to S+ to show that, but you did provide a valuable service to the community.
Its gambling so as a non content creator spend what you can afford. I pick up the growth bundle as it seems decent value. Im playing this game, thoroughly enjoying it, and very few console or PC games so ultimately spending less. Great honest breakdown of expenditure.
To be honest i deeply regret the money i spent to reach the top level of the server. They early few weeks were full of competition and kind of blinded my brain. Tbh genshin/star rail is so much better since you just play at your own pace. I’ve committed to not spending anymore but seeing my rank slowly fall from top 5 to too 10 to top 20 is sad. Logging in is such a drag at this point. Ive tried getting a refund but no luck so far.
There are soooo many people in your position who regret their decision, so you are absolutely not alone. What is most important is that you identified the problem and have started to correct course. I can assure you that you are doing the right thing. If you ever need someone to talk to about this, you can reach out to me on discord.
Great video! I have given myself a monthly budget. I’m sticking to it. This is the first game I’ve invested into. My budget works for my game play style. Monthly passes and pop up deals. Debating about the stargazer pop ups. Looking forward to the rewards with the next patch. Greatly appreciate a real video about the investment. Does this mean you’re currently getting a 25% return on your 100% investment? Or a 25% discount with your revenue returns? Starting a business definitely runs the p&l in the beginning. Love that you’re working towards an even wash so you can just keep going. This is such a business video and I’m here for it 👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Omg Kevin thank you! Yes, when you put it that way, I am making back 25% of what I have spent. Breaking even would be a great goal, which I think will require me to be more selective of what I purchase in-game moving forwards. I love that you stick to your budget btw!
Yea, I spent too much money on games like Genshin and HSR so I’m a bit more careful with other gachas. I feel I still spent a lil too much lately so I’ve been holding back much more. A really good thing to do is to have alt F2P accounts for pulling. That way, I can pull for characters I can’t afford on another account and avoid fomo. I can still play with them and if I end up loving them, I can grab them on main account in a future rerun. It’s been working well for 2 gachas I’ve been playing lately.
Running a 2nd gacha account to scratch that summoning itch is a very good strategy, especially if you are targeting different units in different account. Great idea!
spent more then any as well kind of surprised I did but it is what it is ditching weekly packs only hitting bi weekly orbs and monthly 1.2k% pack and likely 800% pop up packs now I'm 20k deep >.> it hurts to say that XD
I wish tax deductions were 1:1 refunds, but sadly they are not. I'm not fortunate to be in a tax bracket where it pays to know these things, but I would guess it is more like a 10:1 return on losses.
On what would you spend 3000 dragon crystals a month? Summons, upgrade mats? Is it even worth to go for stellar crystals with such budget? I have 15 S+
Personally, I was buying stargaze bundles, 1200% rate up pop ups, temporal/twilight essences, some pop up epic letter bundles, and the one time character dupe pop ups for key units. Stellar crystals are the most worth, but if you only purchase that, the game will only give you the baby pop ups. This is how they motivate you to spend on something that might not be worth it to you.
how arent stargazer bundles not worth? i think they are the most worth. as u calculated, you are skipping MONTHS, purchasing them compared to those that dont. this is huge.
Stargazer bundles are more worth than any other pop-up for sure. My point was that each stargazer pack guarantees you 1.333 scarlitas. If you need 14 scarlita copies to get her from zero to sup+, each $100 you spend on a stargaze bundle gets you 9% of a sup+ hypogean/celestial assuming you hit hard pity every time. As someone who has bought every single stargazer bundle to date, I agree with you 100% that they are worth for someone can afford to accelerate our progress this much.
