Let us be honest. The time Gaddafi died; Libya went on the worst downward spiral. People should stop hating Gaddafi and realize that we made a mistake for leaving him to be tortured and die miserably. The African Union did not show any support at all which is a noticeably big shame!!!

Thank you so much for this documentary. I have always been fascinated by these women. I remember when i was younger Gaddafi came to my country Senegal for our independence day and everyone was mesmerized by the female guards so beautiful feminine and strong at the same time. I suppose he made mistakes but globally he did a good job and wanted better for Lybia and Africa in general but as usual the west destroys everything unfortunately.

Gaddafi only took one wife. He divorced his first wife (from an arranged marriage before he seized power) and married his second wife rather than take 2 wives. That they were women is irrelevant to anything. The relevant fact is that they held themselves up to be “bodyguards”, a task they clearly weren’t up to. Gaddafi presented a violent threat to the advanced world, yet you’re claiming his supposed “bodyguards” could be expected not to anticipate the danger of “foreign interference”. As failed bodyguards and failed human beings, it would seem unlikely that they are prospering.

The translation is terrible! Full of inaccuracies and omits entire sentences sometimes. Here are some examples: 23:07 Fathiya's father says men and women are equal "in defending their country" with the last part omitted in the translation. He also doesn't mention colonialism but says something about God and humans. 29:45 Sabria says her specialization is in computer science NOT high level training. 53:27 Fatima's husband says bodyguarding is not mandatory NOT not important.

well, that depends. if the man is physically weaker than them then the training might not be able to jump the gap. Also, we have guns nowadays so hand to hand combat is unusual.

@@testacals Dude.. no man weaker then these women would ever become a bodyguard. And also i think physical contact is very common for bodyguards, much more common then using firearms. There are reasons for having female bodyguards but physical capacity is not one of them.

@@Redstripe921 We are not talking about other body guards though. We are talking about attackers. Not 100% how common hand to hand combat is when it comes to body guard. I am not sure why gaddafi even had a female bodyguards, I imagine it was for public relations.

@@testacals I think physical contact with other people is quite common. I once got to talk with a retired naval officer in my country (Philippines) around 20 years ago. He was an engineer by training and he was with Naval Research and Devt when he was in active service. After retiring, he joined an engineering company, and their company was one of the builders of those irrigation tunnels in Libya. They were really massive tunnels, the officer told me. Interesting to note was that, according to the officer, those tunnels had US government technical guidance.

I have mixed feelings on this. As a dude who hasn't been involved in combat sport in decades, I know a couple of hard, true things that some people might not believe or want to believe, and I'm sure you already know them. On the other hand, these women put their actual lives on the line and that's not nothing to me. And I know that there are women out there who could probably take my lunch money, but I'm 52, so meh. It deserves attention. They deserve attention. History, in general, short-changes women and the reason for that is also hard. Understanding things intellectually is actually not the problem. Accepting them emotionally seems to be where all the action is.
